The ice cream flavors are unique and intense: cardamom chocolate and blue Java banana taste so authentic and fresh! The coffee flavor tasted fresh brewed and delicious. Our latest visit on 5/17 was the complete opposite ( we were served by someone else, not the owner). We were told that we can try only one flavor. And when we ordered a single scoop (two flavors), the quantity was well below par, like less than a kids size. Attaching pics of both visits. I don't know if it's the color of our skin or the fact that we were a little undecided on what to get and that irritated them (for not more than two minutes because their menu is scattered around the store, not all in one piece of paper). While picking up some sides at a nearby restaurant, we decided to stop into Petals Creamery for dessert since my brother and sister-in-law had been here before. The place was crowded on a Saturday night! A charming shop which is nicely decorated with a Persian style. There are plenty of seats and tables inside, though it can feel quite cozy/tight when fully crowded. Only one unisex restroom. Artisanal small batch icecream with some traditional flavors and some Persian flavors. The service was nice and friendly and moved the line of people quickly through. I tried a sample of the Rozu flavor which I thought was pretty tasty as it had a florally taste with a sweet tartness from the yuzu. Rozu: rose water & all natural yuzu juice. A harmoniously blend of floral and citrus notes. Perfect balance of creaminess & refreshing. My wife got Cookies & Cream and Turkish Coffee. Both were good. My brother ordered the Baklava flavored ice cream. That was my personal favorite! I'd get this flavor again. My sister-in-law got the Saffron Latte. The ice cream is not much better than Baskin-Robbins at twice the price. And the coffee is bad. I came here for a quick treat and got a double scoop of their chocolate and coffee flavors. The lady taking my order had this irritatingly quiet voice despite it being loud inside, so I had to keep asking her to repeat everything like I'm some old deaf guy. "What'd you say, Sonny? SPEAK UP THESE OLD EARS AREN'T WHAT THEY USED TO BE!" And oh my god the questions. How big do I want the scoops, what kind of sugar in the coffee, like I get you offer options but I just wanted 2 scoops in a cup, not a home loan. Anyway, finally done with the inane questions and the coffee ice cream was so sickly sweet. I was expecting something rich, dark, and with subtle flavors like the bougie coffee shop it looks like. Nope - just sugar! The chocolate ice cream was better, still unbalanced with the intense sweetness but at least I could taste chocolate and a hint of cardamom. I was a bit tired so I also ordered a saffron latte, and this was one of the worst lattes I've ever had. All I tasted was steamed milk - certainly no saffron, but not even coffee. I don't know, maybe they should change it to a cappuccino and halve the quantity of milk so it has some actual flavor. All this came out to $29 along with 2 other single scoops, and then they have 18%-20-%-22% options for tipping. Uh, tipping for what? Scooping the ice cream and making coffee which is... your job? I gave about a 17% tip which I regretted upon tasting the saccharine ice cream and steamed milk passing for coffee. I was really excited about coming here as it sounds great, but the reality just disappointed me so much. It is very nice looking inside, and its location is lends itself to strolling around downtown Los Gatos which is nice. But when you combine the meh ice cream with the crappy coffee at exorbitant prices it's just impossible to justify. Also the parking situation sucks. read more

They have unique ice cream flavors from cardamom ice cream to a yuzu rose flavor named Rozu! The service is quick and attentive, while friendly and cheery. My buddy forced me to order the saffron creme brulee on the side, even when I told her I don't like creme brulee. It was definitely the best creme brulee I've ever had. I had to sample this a lot because I had never been here before and I did not know what I wanted to get. They have a lot of interesting combinations of flavors that are based on a different type of taste palette so it was a little bit of a challenge for me to find a flavor that I was Willing to get. The woman behind the counter was super patient with me and willing to help me sample several flavors before I finally settled on vanilla bean, but I got a tiramisu topping on top of it, which was really fun. She actually placed some of the syrup on top of my ice cream and then Blow torch the top of the ice cream and that made it super delicious. The person I was with got Turkish coffee, which was an interesting flavor combination. He actually ended up liking my vanilla bean with the tiramisu topping more. Cute date spot. This was my second visit after a night in Los Gatos. I came back for the ice cream but my husband wanted to try the coffee. The staff there were very welcoming and let us try some samples. I've tried their stracciatella which was delicious. This time I got pistachio, it was very light and creamy. My husband tried their pour over coffee. I stopped by Petals Creamery in Los Gatos; This Persian-focused ice cream shop had a soft opening to the public May 4 only. I talked with the owner Nathan Gaudreau. The grand opening will likely be Saturday May 17, or Saturday May 24 at the latest. I sampled most of the flavors. Here are my rankings: These are premium flavors: $9/scoop: - 4.5/5: Saffron. Quite good. But saffron is a numbing flavor; the first few bites are great, but then your tongue adapts quickly, and it doesn't taste like much. - 4.0/5: Orange blossom creamsicle. Nice spice blend to go with the orange. But the clotted cream chunks freeze too hard. - 3.0/5: Pistachio mint stracciatella. It's really mint with a hint of pistachio. - 3.5/5: Marcona milk: Uses house-made almond milk. It has a subtle lemon/citrus flavor. These flavors are $7/scoop: - 5.0/5: London Fog: Excellent. They add Lavender to complement the flavor. - 4.0/5: Baklava. Too much cardamom flavor, but good otherwise. - 3.0/5: Turkish Coffee: Too much cardamom flavor. The coffee flavor is not strong enough. - 3.0/5: Cardamom chocolate: Too much cardamom flavor masks the chocolate. - Vanilla (did not sample) - Parisian Cookie monster with natural blue coloring (did not sample) I tried one scoop of saffron ice cream ($9) in a baklava bowl ($7). The ice cream was great. But the baklava bowl just doesn't work. They are still experimenting and will likely tweak things. They also have pastries, like a saffron creme brulee $9. For ice cream geeks, here are the specs: - The pastry chef Marcel Khorsand was trained in France, so the ice creams are heavy custard style: the formulation is high in fat, at 18% butterfat, and is loaded with egg yolks. People with egg allergy must be careful. - They make everything from scratch, and do the full pasteurization pipeline in-house. It took them 2 years to get all the permits to become a full-on dairy processor. - The ice creams are less sweet: It shows off the flavor better, which is nice. They use agave and honey for part of the sweetener, to have a somewhat lower glycemic index. - They churn on-site using an Emery Thompson batch freezer. - Similar to Eataly, all ice creams are stored in a pozetti cabinet, where each ice cream is under a silver lid; you can't see the ice creams, but they get better temperature control. read more
