I'm updating my review because I adopted a small dog in early 2017. He was a little bit of a mess when my family took him in. He is a Terrier mix and it was painfully obvious he had never been to the groomers. We were advised to take him to Ivanna at this location. She works miracles! My dog is not the easiest little guy to groom. She is always so patient with him and treats him to little goodies when he is done. He looks like a completely different dog. We have been using Ivanna since May of 2017 and will NEVER go anywhere else. She is such a great groomer and so incredibly patient doing whatever is necessary to get the job done. Customer service is so rude. I have a puppy & they recommended whole hearted dog food to me. & they've been out of the puppy formula for over a week they told me to come back on wed because thats when they restock but they still didn't have any. Then they said to come back on Friday, so I called today, which is Saturday & they are still out. It's been over a week how can they be out of their own brand of dog food? I love petco and have been coming here for all my animal supplies, from toys, dog food, training, and grooming. I have never really had any problems or let downs with any petcos. But I brought my pup on Sunday the 3rd at 2:30pm to get her grooming done here when I arrived to pick her up i was told she cut her paw on the kennel because she was scratching at it I took a look and it did not look like a cut from scratching. I called a family member who has been working in this industry for many years and she let me know that it was not likely that she did that from scratching that it may have been the grinder for the nails or she got her paw caught in the gate door while it was closing. I'm a bit disappointed because now my girl has a cut on her paw. Her nails were filed and were done really crappy. I do understand accidents happen but i would like to know the truth so I'm not sure I can return to this petco due to my girl getting hurt. read more

I should have gone with my gut from the start. I should not have left my fur babies there with Sarah. Not only were they there for 5 hours! There hair cuts were the worst ever! The cuts were uneven everywhere, bald spots, a Nik and she clip a nail to short and she bled :(. I wonder if they have training for groomers. Needless to say I will not be returning. read more

I love this store especially their grooming department. Everyone is super nice but I always have Ivanna the wonderful experienced lady with multicolored hair!!! She is always soo eager and happy to help and makes sure that I always leave content when it comes to grooming Rockie. He is a pug and terrier mix and isnt very fond of grooming sessions, but yet every time I have taken him to Ivanna I am never disappointed and he is always looking soo cute. I have seen the wonderful work she does first hand and can see the dedication and love she has for the animals. I have never had any type of bad experience and Rockie just loves her!!! My dog is tri-pawed and I have to keep her nails clipped short. She was hit by a car at 8 months old and is now 3 years old. She lost her left forepaw and broke the right in two places, was in a body cast for 10 weeks. I take her to Petco and love the way they handle her. Ivanna usually takes care of her grooming needs, she is very gentle and my dog loves coming into the Store. Ivanna clips her nails, gives her a bath and I get many compliments on how nice she smells and how soft her fur is. My son even asked me what they do at Petco, he said she always smells and looks great. In general I have found everyone working there is great, I think it is because they all love animals. The training that goes into each of their job really shows in the work ethic, skill sets and customer service each time i have been there. I visit on the average twice a month. read more

I booked a grooming appointment for my two dogs on January 15. But because of one shot they don't have, the appointment was held back until we got the shot. So i went to petco and told them if i should make an appointment etc. And the worker told me to do one appointment for one dog, so I did. For 6 years we've been doing an appointment both them both together, but apparently the vet day comes and their no longer allowed to come in with an appointment together? they told me that i should make two appointments for two dogs when i've been doing the same thing for 6 years and everything has gone well. It was just one shot that they needed, rabies shot. Might take around 5 minutes each dog. So i don't get the big deal, we made our appointment for no reason basically. We also wasted gas going back and forth because of petco's messed up scedules. Now because of petco our dogs can't get groomed for the summer, when the heat is blasting. I just wanted them to get groomed in time but because of petcos schedules our time was wasted and so was our gas. Next time don't tell us to make an appointment and then also tell us we did it wrong when we have been doing this for 6 years the same everytime. ‍ read more

Hate to give such a poor review on petco, mostly because every visit with every other petco has been short of amazing. But this petco.. AVIOD AT ALL COSTS. I called around 1 to make a simple bath and nail trim for my small dog. They said they could see her at 4, so naturally I'm a few minutes (15 to be exact) early. I get there and the two girls who helped me totally did not know what they were doing. One was new and the other plopped her feet on the table as she was typing in my information, not caring that I was a customer and that was standing less than a foot next to her. Obviously I was a little hesitant leaving my dog here but i called around 4 different grooming salons and they were all booked and my dog desperately needed her nails trimmed down. Right before I left asked how long it'd take, I was on a hour and half time crunch (which I thought was more than enough) and wanted to make sure everything would be fine. Note: I brought in my dog to petco for her first full service grooming service and it took about 40 minutes. The lady told me it should take no more than an hour and that there was still a dog in front of mine to get finished up. I said fine and left. An hour and half later, I still didn't get a text or a phone call. As I walked back into the grooming salon to see what was taking so long, the groomer who was supposed to take care of my dog had just walked out handing a dog back to their owner. As soon as she saw me she began tensing up and apologized. She said that she hadn't even TOUCHED my dog yet. Seriously?!? I was early for my appointment, waited an extra 30 minutes just to find out that you haven't even started?! I work in customer service and I know things can back up, but wouldn't you think of calling me at least giving me a heads up it'll take longer than expected?! These people obviously don't care about their customers time. I kept my cool asked AGAIN and asked how long it would take and she said 'well I gotta be outta here buy 6:30, so before then' THIS IS HOW YOU TALK TO SOMEONE AFTER AN HOUR AND HALF OF THEM WAITING ON YOU?! The groomers are nice but I always ask for a puppy shave and they end up leaving the hair on the tail! Which makes me mad because what's the point of a puppy shave , so don't forget to mention ALL AROUND. Also my dog is a cocker/terrier mix so she is medium size and for a full groom with bath and nail costs around $75. I would try a local dog groomer , you would just be paying for the brand .... read more

The groomers were friendly however would never take my dog back. He went for a bath, brush, and nail clip. He came out still wet after being there for 4 hours and was told to pick him up and his nails were still not clipped. After looking at my dogs nails they didn't even tell me they cut one too short and it was bleeding. He also wasn't brushed out correctly or at all because his hair was all matted in the back which it wasn't when I took him there. The lady also said when leaving "I'm sure you'll be happy not to see me again" to my dog. Kind of strange. But all in all like I said nice ladies I just won't be taking my pet back there to be groomed. read more

I've taken our dog to Petco a few times. I've never been super impressed but it works. This time I warned them at drop off that he's super skinny and susceptible to razor burn. They called during the appt to say they "nicked" him and described it as a "raspberry". They gave me antibiotic ointment and still charged me for the grooming. What they really did was slice his stomach and 4 days later it's not healing. Never again. read more

Took my dogs here twice for grooming and Cindy did a great job! I took my dog here today and had a foul mouth girl with multicolored hair cut my dog's hair by the name of Ivana. I requested Cindy and was very specific and verified she would be working on my dog. Ivana ended up cutting her hair and was really upset. Needless to say, my yorkie now looks like a miniature fawn because she got butchered by this woman. Never take your dog here!!!! Back on May 3, 2019 I went into the Eugene Oregon Petco on Valley River Drive. A woman named 'Lydia' helped me with a very entailed purchase/discount on multiple items. I was so impressed with how pleasant she was as she walked me through a very confusing purchase which took a lot of her time. She made me feel totally at ease with her patient, cheerful personality, and her good logic worked through the roadblocks to what I needed. I broke my back shortly after that visit and haven't been able to submit a comment until now .. but I didn't forget how she helped me. She's a great Petco representative! read more

Today, I took my baby-dog into Petco for her routine nail trim, anal expression and teeth cleaning. Only, to find out: prices have changed! Guess this happened last month, because I had no idea. Now, I have to pay 2x the money to get such simple things done. Now, I have to pay for each item separately, OR buy a "package"... Each item separately would have been the same amount as if I had bought their stupid "package". So, I bought their dumb package... I went with a basic bathing and added on the anal gland, nail grind, teeth brush for an extra $22. (Mind you, I am used to spending $25 to do these things). $46 dollars and 3 hours and 40 minutes later, I finally get my dog back. (They never called me, either. I called them and practically had to demand my dog back). Once I came back for my dog, one groomer explained that they could not express her glands. Told me that I needed to take her to a vet. Funny thing- they usually do this service w/o a problem. AND, I paid for that service- yet, they did not provide... My dog was freaking out and could not wait to climb up my body to get away from the "groomer". I immediately found myself in a situation where I needed to remove my dog from the establishment. As soon as I was outside and to my car, I picked her up and found that her nails were NOT ground, (as I had paid for), they were jagged and uneven, her ears were STILL dirty (paid for that too), but, she got a bath! Whoo hoo! Nothing that I paid for had been done other than "clipping" her nails and bathing her. I am sorry- $46 to do that? RIP OFF! Almost 4 hours of holding my dog when I had made an appointment for 10am and then I get my dog back at 1:40pm?!? BS!!!! I will never go back to this establishment! EVER! read more

I took My husky in for grooming and she was completely transformed in a good way of course.Sky came out looking like a diamond brand new dog after shedding so much fur.I was very satisfied with her results and she was one very happy husky.Everyone is friendly and they look like they care about the pets.Front Staff is also very friendly and helpful. read more

I called last week to see if I could bring my dog in to be groomed whom ever answered the phone asked me if she had been there before and she hadn't. She asked her ae ( my dog is 11) she told me they don't think recommend grooming for older dogs because it takes a toll on them. My dog is in great health shes a lab shes 11 and acts like shes 5 . Ivanna has been grooming my dog Benji since he was old enough to be groomed. She is amazing with him. She takes the time and has the patience to ease him into to salon cuz he is a mommas boy. I love going to petco. I really like fish and this location has a great variety of fish, but they also have alot of other great animal stiff. Their staff is very nice and knowledgable and their prices are fair. This is by far my favorite petco store to go to. read more

You have to be kidding me. FIVE STAR REVIEWS? Ok ok I get it I mean alright hey- if you're going there for everything except FISH go ahead it's like every other Pet Co you've ever seen. Lots of selection on dog things and cat things, I mean I've bought some nice stuff for my dog there if a bit pricey but hey. It's Pet Co. So yes this is a review SOLELY ON THE FISH DEPARTMENT. If you don't care about that pass it by. On the other hand if you were thinking of getting a healthy fish in a wide variety from knowledgeable staff, haha think again my friend! If anybody actually thinks Pet Co. employees are the end all on animal knowledge then Mc Donalds has some great advice for your dietary schedule. Where do they get these people? Who trains them to care for fish, Starkist? I mean, if you wanted to train people to become really good at killing fish they are doing an exemplary job. I mean it's true the people are nice, but that doesn't matter if your fish are unhealthy guys. It makes me VERY sad when I'm able to play, "Spot all the dead fish" in one tank, it's deplorable. Do they even really know how to test their own water? You know with a proper kit and not a bunch of the faulty strips they seem so keen on selling you. They work to a POINT but their data isn't as accurate as actual water tube tests. The number of sick fish they pawn is as high as their kill rate. I just bought three blood fin tetras from them and as soon as I brought them home, I knew one was not going to make it and I cursed myself for letting that silly worker net it because I knew it was messed up but he had such a hard time trying to catch any of them I just said fine and took it. Thank god for their 30-day return policy because like the rest of their small pocket of blood fins to choose from, they were all screwed up, some even had facial deformations and swam slow and sideways. The gold fish are fine but that's because gold fish are always fine- killing a gold fish pretty much means you should hang up your tiny net and buy a gerbil. My two little swimmers are doing alright for now but the weakest died in the next few days. I came back to exchange it and they only had two left. Perfect the sickest ones. And the one I just exchanged for the old one died the same night. It had a slump back anyway poor thing. I didn't even want to go back so I just flushed it instead of going to return it for another cull grade fish. Oh and it's not my water I checked, all the other fish are great- just the sick bloods. Also, I can't conquer the horrendous ways bettas are kept in chain stores with one measly review on Yelp, because that is a wall built too high and too thick of spectacularly false 'common knowledge' and greed for much too long- but hell I will complain about it anyway. There has to be a better way of keeping them than small shipping cups and maybe this'll inspire SOMEONE to think. What I can tell anyone reading this is NEVER. BUY. A. "BETTA. SPECIFIC. TANK." Do you know why? If you thought those little cubes and tiny cups are adorable you're right they are, I really wish bettas COULD live in them but bettas need 2-5 gallons to swim. PERIOD. They'll only live for about a year in that piece of crap. It's just a tiny bowl collecting ammonia. Most 'betta specific tanks' are only a HALF GALLON. THEY HAVE NO ROOM TO SWIM. One even advertises you can fit TWO in one of those. You know how sick that is? 2-5 gallons. No ifs ands or buts- "Oh, oh- But bettas come from Thailand and thrive in small rice paties so-" NO. PLEASE STOP. Look I know you probably didn't want to go to extremes to take care of it, that's what's appealing about bettas that they seem so simple unlike other fish that require filters and all that. You wanted maybe a pet project (pardon the pun) or something to sit on your desk or something easy for your kids to take care of. But a betta is a very special fish. They're human interactive and fearless and they are so unique. Pet stores treat them like garbage. You CAN house them with other fish just not each other. They need to be KEPT WARM. I keep mine at about 75-80 degrees because newsflash Thailand's hot. These fish, like any other have specifics and are a responsibility so don't just jump to buy one without maybe a simple google search. That goes for you Pet Co. employees. I know what you've been told to say to customers but it's wrong. That goes for most of your fish. It's not your fault, but in a way it kind of is. It's really common sense that heck maybe all the dead fish should have alerted you to change something. All in all, and again this is SPECIFIC OF THE FISH DEPARTMENT NOT THE WHOLE STORE, just really poor selection, very expensive for equipment, absolute shit conditions for the fish I felt like I was walking through a fish morgue. I being my Shiba and Pug in to get groomed. A young lady named Ivanna has helped me both times. She is very knowledgeable on what they need and they leave happy. Their fur always smells really good and is shiny. My Pug hates his nails clipped and she manages to do them without him getting mad. I only bring them to her for their grooming. I live walking distance to this petco, so its a no brainer to just walk and get a few of my pets items. The past few times I've come into this location there is very minimal staffing and it seems like they are stressed to get everything done when there is a line for people to get assistance and the poor cashier is the only one in sight. The Dog classes look very engageing and positive for the dogs and owners and there is a good selection on pretty much everything. But when it comes to customer service, one of the ladies with curly silver hair and glasses could definitely need a few moments to herself to gather herself and some customer service. She comes up very head strong asking what you needed and very fast to get things done and move onto the next customer. Lack of customer service and friendliness by that employee, but there are a two that have been super sweet and accomodating, it stinks that one bad employee will bring the atmosphere down for the shopper. read more

I rescued two little dogs last summer, one a Maltese/Bichon Frise, the other a Maltese / Shi Tzu.Today was the third time I took them to Petco for grooming. The first time I told them just a bath, a little trim, brush them out, everything was great. Last time, asked for the same thing and they shaved both dogs and gave them more of a traditional poodle like cut! NOT WHAT I WANTED! I'm not one to make waves, so I didn't say anything, figured it would grow out but was very disappointed. I took them for a third time, as the first visit was great and I'd be VERY specific in what I wanted! BIG MISTAKE!!!! This time was even worse! they were both shaved to where I could see their skin and what was left on their heads and faces was all choppy and uneven. After complaining to two different people who passed me off until I finally talked to the manager who then defended the girl who checked us in (although she admitted that the girl's English was sometimes not that great...wtf!) said I told her to do the same as last time, cuz that's what she put on the ticket. NO! THAT'S NOT WHAT I SAID! DON'T GET YOUR DOGS GROOMED HERE! I'll be looking for a new place to take my dogs. read more

My wife and I have a Shih tzu and we had made an appointment for my him to be groomed at 11:00 o'clock. we dropped him off at the grooming desk in the back of the store, the woman that took him said he will be ready in two hours. Well three hours pass and my wife called to see why is it taking say so long. The manager got on the phone and said that they were short staffed today and that it is going to be done at 4:00 o'clock and that she thought we didn't need him back at the time she said he would be ready.The biggest problem we had with PET-CO is them not calling and telling us that they wont be able to finish grooming our dog and assuming that we are not going to pick him up at the time they said he was going to be done. Prior to this, there has been several incidences where they had given our dog a sloppy hair cut where we have had to complain to them to fix problems that shouldn't be a issue and besides all this we haven't even talked about the "price".......... read more
