She knows her stuff, she's polite and makes sure we got out with knowledge on how to ease Jax's undesired behaviors. We had to work on Leash pulling, greeting, recall and maybe some anxiety. Of course we can't resolve it in one day, but she gave us the tools to get there. We left with some calming spray and some 2 for $5 dog toys. read more

i visited this location on april 18, 2026, primarily to restock on bloodworms. while browsing, i decided to pick up a juvenile angelfish. it wasn't an impulse buy. this was a koi marbled anglefish that i've been reserving space for in my aquariums for months. i have multiple tanks syndrome. my plan for this fish was specific: it would start in an established 40-gallon tank with neon tetras and eventually be moved to my 60-gallon community tank once it reached a size where its natural predatory instincts might pose a risk to the smaller tetras. between those tanks and others i have, there's also no reason why i can't also shuffle fish around later on. since the angelfish was only about the size of a half-dollar, i knew from my five years of experience in the hobby that aggression or predation wouldn't be an issue in the immediate future. i approached an employee for assistance, but the interaction quickly became a disagreement about compatibility because as soon as i mentioned the neon tetras, she refused the sale. i explained my setup, my background in fishkeeping, and my plan to rehome the fish as it matured. i essentially told her i would take full responsibility for the livestock. after some back and forth, she eventually agreed to the sale. i walked away believing we had reached a understanding, even if we disagreed on the level of risk. the situation took a bizarre and unprofessional turn while i was in the checkout line. in front of other customers and staff, a manager approached me and informed me that i was no longer welcome because i had "cussed out" or was "cussing at" her employee, specifically citing the "f-word". banning a customer is a nuclear move. at no point during my interaction with the staff member did i raise my voice, use profanity, or act in a way that could be described as abusive or would warrant such a reaction. i was genuinely flabbergasted at that point. absolute disbelief. if this store has security cameras, i highly recommend reviewing them for proof of me "cussing out" or being abusive to the employee. i was there between 2:30pm and 3:00pm. you will find no evidence of anything other than reasonable conduct. if you find the contrary, i will check myself into a mental institution as it would mean i'm clearly losing grip on reality. i respect a business that prioritizes the health of its animals and tries to educate its customers - so two stars for that. the staff showed concern i would expect. i've seen first hand the crap staff here or any pet store can experience with people coming back with dead fish and blaming the store while demanding a refund. however, i cannot respect a staff member who fabricates stories of abuse to poison the well on a customer's character simply because they didn't like being challenged during a disagreement. using management as a weapon to retaliate against a customer after a sale is agreed upon is a massive failure in integrity. i understand the stress of dealing with uninformed buyers, but lying to justify a power move is where you lose all credibility. not to mention the "sorry he's your husband" insult directed at my wife as we were already walking away with our backs turned. there is absolutely no professional context where a remark towards a customer's marriage is appropriate or warranted. i went in purchasing $10 bloodworms + a few other dollars in supplies. this debacle was over a $4 fish. and for reference, here is the grow out tank it and 2 others went into. no predation yet! i'm decidedly shocked. read more

We asked a sales associate to help us grab some fish, and he did. After buying the fish, I was seeking care items such as food and filters. She rudely interjects and tells my 3 year old (on her birthday today) that she can't sell us those fish...after we already bought them and my daughter was excitingly holding them. She then proceeds to tell me I don't have the proper tank size and equipment, and instead of showing me the proper materials needed to house these fish, tells me in front of my toddler that we can take them home but we're going to wake up to dead fish. Do yourself a favor and stay away from the grooming salon in this store. My first bad experience here was they put several students on my dog without my permission. He has always been sensitive about his feet. He nipped a student and the banned him from the salon. They even put in his file and so no other Petco would take him. It took several attempts to talk to a manager to get this off his record and resolved. Now my dog is 15yo and they will no longer groom him per the new manager. I found her to be rude and abrasive. I made an appointment to have my 2 dogs groomed. My husband arrived on time for our 9 am scheduled appointment and brought along our 3 young children as well. There were 4 other people waiting for the groomer. My husband asked an employee if anyone was there. To which they replied, "maybe they are in the back?" He didn't offer to go check even though there were 5 people waiting. So my husband left. I recieved a call from the groomer at 9:19am asking where the dogs were and I told her we arrived on time for our scheduled 9am appointment. And no one was there so we left. As I can see this is already not a highly recommended petco, due to poor customer service on multiple occasions I will not ever bring my business back nor will I encourage any family and friends to either. A female with short bangs and darker multi colored hair, long fake nails (Wish I caught her name) is the most rude and degrading employee I've ever come across. Brought my daughter in to adopt a hamster which she was so excited for and she greeted us with the snottiest attitude for no apparent reason right off the bat. This is the second attempt I made to schedule just a nail clipping for my dachshund. 1) Their app would not allow you to schedule JUST NAILS BEING CLIPPED, which is all I ever need. 2) You can't reach them by phone. 3) I was close so just went there. They said we could see someone in an hour. I waited an hour, walking my dog in their parking lot and freezing in my car. 4) At the hour+10, they were still not ready. I asked for the restroom and they HAVE NONE. After my hour wait this was not cool. And it was impossible to even sit down inside, as they have no chairs or waiting place. Ann G. lied to me during Xmas of 2022 falsely stating that Petco requires elderly dogs receive a sign off by a vet before they are groomed. I left the groomers disheartened and confused. I decided to vet Ann's claim with Petco corporate and several other petco groomers. everyone I reached out to said the only requirement for grooming was a rabies vaccine. I shouldnt be surprised this was the only petco open for appointments after months of waiting. Unbelievable Ann from Kent Petco. Ann did a great job on my maltipoo. I brought her in and she was extremely matted. I explained that I wanted to keep her hair if possible. Ann explained that she would make every attempt but didn't make any promises. My puppy seemed to be really excited and pooped on the floor. I was frustrated and explained that behavior was unusual and she assured me that accidents happen. When I came to pick her up she was shaved down quite a bit but when I asked for pictures she provided them to me to show why she had to be cut down so low. I also arrived late and to make me feel better about the major cut she provided a cute bow to improve my pups appearance. read more

Today was my first time being from Petco, or going to a Petco. I had already ordered online, and I was at the register waiting, I did see a lady struggling with her dogs and looking for something else so I thought she obviously wasn't gonna check out anytime soon. So I stood by the register waiting for employee to come attend me, but once the employee gets to the register he tells me that he's going to see me 2nd and her first. I had asked why and he told me I cut in front of the lady, then he told me to move aside so he can assist the other customer, because it's rude and inconsiderate of me to cut in front of other people. I told him I didn't cut her, and he just rolled his eyes at me, I honestly wanted to leave the store but I had already made the purchase. I wasn't going to just delay my kitten from getting her dewormer any longer, I lost a pet recently to worms so I am feeling very overwhelmed and anxious. Thought going into petco would've been calm and easy going but no, my voice was shaking when the employee asked me what i needed help with. I told him I made an online order and he just had attitude for no reason, he got me what I needed atleast and told me to have a nice day still...had a panic attack in my car, my partner was trying to calm me down, but woohoo my cat will hopefully feel better after this because I do not want to lose her. I was tasked with caring for a beautiful Black German Shepard after her owner , a life long friend passed a couple years ago. I live in an apartment so it's impossible to get groomers to do house calls.I took Pup to Petco as a walk in and Ann was fantastic. She checked us in in minutes, gave us some excellent advice and in no time had my girl looking as sharp as ever. I have an irradict wirk schedule so time off isn't conducive to making appointments. I love the location of this store, we moved to Kent a year ago and got a bearded dragon from Covington Petco and a couple months later ended up getting another beardie. I didn't even realize that the Kent location was right by target even though I shop there a lot I somehow missed it. Covington kept running out of crickets and my beardies love them. I was calling around locations to find cricket and got a hold of the Kent store who had plenty in stock I've been going there since and I got to say I'm a huge fan the staff there is amazing they treat you like family. I was having a rough evening tonight and the gentleman at the register I'll have to get his name next time really helped with my evening. The only reason Petco is getting 2 of my stars is because I enjoy their selection.. sometimes. Grooming, 2 stars for effort. Customer service & overall well being of your pet- 0 I scheduled a grooming appointment 4 weeks ago, only because they were that far out. My appointment was for 2:30pm. I 3 calls back to back at 10am, asking if I can reschedule for 2 weeks out because they didn't schedule enough staff for today. Irresponsibility on your part does not count for an emergency on mine. Simple as that. My pet was dropped off 30 min early per their request to still be able to groom my animal that day, like it was a threat. Immediately upon pick up, my dog pees on the grooming floor. Which he has never done inside since being a puppy. I ask for a paper towel to clean it up, as a respectful pet owner would do. The groomer says "I guess i'll clean it. I do it all the time". Fine, suit yourself. I walk to the counter to pay & my dog pees again. I apologize more & offer to clean it. They then tell me to leave it. I walk outside & immediately take my dog to the bushes, where he pees another solid 30 seconds. Which at this point I am wondering why he peed so much in the last 5 min? There's only one logical explanation, Petco employees do not have the respect or common decency to take your pet outside to use the bathroom in the 3.5 hours they're their getting groomed. So so sad. I will be resorting to mom & pop groomers that genuinely care about my pet & don't just have a revolving door of employees. Some people's pets are their child. Treat them so. read more

I understand short staffed (I spent years working retail) and I understand bad days. I have just had enough of this location. The grooming department is incredibly rude. Brought my dog to get her nails trimmed. Was ignored for 10mins. even with attempts of trying to get their attention. I was only acknowledged when I decided to leave. I couldn't get the attention of the 3!!! 3!! Employees working in the grooming department. Because of Covid we haven't had a regular vet visit. Our rabies shot had lapsed. Went to buy a some things for my fish tank, the website said it was in stock, the two associates working today said they can't find it and didn't bother giving it a proper look, then said go to a bigger petco store. Then I asked to buy some fish, they wouldn't sell me fish because I don't have the right sized tank, I told them I have multiple fish tanks and will move the fish to a bigger tank, they refused to sell me fish. Extremely rude and the store is a mess. Nothing was where it should have been, there were dead fish in the tanks and they're worried about the size of my tank. They have no idea what they are talking about when it comes to aquatic life, nor do they care to keep the store presentable. The day before my grooming appointment, which I waited for weeks for, I was called and told that one of my dogs actually needed a letter from the vet stating that she was oaky to be groomed due to her age (16). Thats fine, but you don't call the day before. My vet wasn't available and my dog hadn't even been seen in quite some time so I would have had to take her in. Poor process. Now I have to wait weeks again to get them in someplace else. This info should have been given to me when I scheduled my dogs (or at least NOT the day before). I literally was able to find majority of my pups items at the Ross store 2 or 3 doors down. I found an XL kennel in ross for $54 and that same kennel in petco for $160, how in the world is that possible. I bought my little pup an XS harness and even that was $18 and the leash was another $10 . jeez! I will try to shop around and they will be a last resort . good thing- the staff is friendly and seem very knowledgeable on pet care. They def have all your pet supply needs you just have to expect to spend a $$$. overpriced. overrated. good location. ****Update 11/15/2018 *** My little Baby checkers is a few months old now and I did take him to Petco to get groomed. I saw an ad for a discount on grooming services, so I took him there because it was convenient. I shed a tear when I picked him up, he looked cute but I was def convinced the dog i picked up wasnt mine. My little fluff ball looked like he belonged to a 75 year old woman. They did a great job on the haircut but since I am so used to him being a big fluff ball, seeing this small shaved dog that looked like he was growing a mustache freaked me out. Lol. The grooming was about $85 and he was there for several hours-you have to drop your animal off and return later to pick them up. Love this place!! My pup does too. They have literally everything I need for Milo, ranging from organic/natural foods, treats, toys, etc. It's a one stop shop and then some. I also got Milo's nails clipped here as well - with your Pals card, the first time is free! It only takes about two minutes, so I'm sure once I have to start paying for it I'll be salty lol. But huge shout out to this Petco for hiring Rollin, he's an amazing manager. He stayed and talked with my boyfriend and I about what kind of diet we should be providing for our new german shepherd and didn't care how many questions we had. He literally took us from aisle to aisle stating the pros (and cons) of different brands and answered any questions I had about what kind of bowls/brushes/etc. I should be buying. I have been coming here for years for supplies for both dogs and cats. The selection is always great, they have a large selection of supplies for a wide variety of animals. My issue is with the customer service. It usually fails to meet expectations. There is an older lady working here that is always great, super friendly and knowledgable. But the younger employees have poor attitudes ranging from the relatively benign but still frustrating vacant stoner-esque demeanor, to curt rudeness, to blatant hostility. I am sitting in my car in front of the store fuming right now because I just essentially got chased out of the store at 5 minutes before closing. First they made an announcement over the loudspeaker that the store was closing in 8 minutes. Then 3 minutes later, right after I received an important phone call I had been expecting regarding a family member, one of the two girls working at the time tracked me down, came to my aisle, and talked over me while I was on the phone saying, "Do you need something?" I had been in the store for a grand total of 5 minutes at this point, and had my purchase in my hand. I was forced to discontinue my important phone call, go to the register and complete my purchase when it was still 4 minutes till closing, and hurry to my car. As someone who spent years as a waitress, where if a customer came in at 1 minute before closing, we had to provide them with full, regular - paced service that often kept us there an hour or more after closing, this behavior really pisses me off. They need to get a grip. I'm already going to Mud Bay instead whenever possible, this experience only reinforces that stance. Only come here if Mud Bay or Target doesn't have what you're looking for. Target has much cheaper wet food for cats, and Litter Genies, by the way. read more

This isn't your dad's lions, tigers, and bears pet store, kids. Nope. This is more the ferrets, fish, and parakeet store. And there's nothing wrong with that. This Petco is one of those convenient-cause-it's-close-to-the-other-place-that-I-frequent-cause-that-place-is-close-to-home-places. It's small. And with a small store comes smaller selection. Thing is about this smaller selection is that it lacks consistency. It's as if they're Buyer/Purchaser decided to play Spin-The-Wheel with the sizes, flavors, and colors of what should be available in this store and gave it absolutely no tact and strategy. It isn't true variety in this store. I find myself in need/want of a product that is usually not quite. The service is your usual "we love animals better than humans because understand me better" service. Lots of smiles, lots of empathy, and lots of unneeded advice. I'm not saying I'm not listening because every once in blue moon, I'll come across a nugget-o-info that I hadn't known about. This isn't to say it's a bad thing. The employees here seem to have that "Please let me help you" urgency equivalent of needing to find a bathroom fast...under control. For the most part. I indulge their need to help with a smile exchanged and press on. Keep Calm and Smile On. Overall, there are definitely better stores. Its just the selection. It's too inconsistent for me to want to ever recommend it to anyone. Because that whole "you said it was there! This is a small condensed version of the larger Petco's I've been to. If you're in a hurry and know what you need to get, this place seemed to nail it. I've had to run in here to get bird food for my Caique and they do have the Zupreem brand he eats. I've also had no problem spending $100 on bird toys to stock his cage. Sure they sell parakeets, but the toys available show that they are catering to larger parrots as well. Today I was here returning a Kong toy that was a gift and it was too big for my dog. I lost the receipt, but there wasn't any issue asking for store credit as I was there shopping for a couple things anyway. I found a sweater vest that was Boston Terrier sized and I got a new padded harness that fit. I was also looking at crates and there are quite a few options available along with dog beds and kennels. The cat stuff doesn't look too shabby either. I substitute some cat toys for my bird because he seems to like the jingly plastic ball things and he likes to shred the foil looking crumple toys. So far I haven't had a problem locating items I need for my Avian/Canine family members. I'll be coming back. I like this place. I really want to get a Beta Fish and Ferret. read more

The customer service is good but I bought a ball python from there and they gave me wrong advice to care for him. *He was very underweight and needed adult mice but they were feeding him hoppers because they claimed he was afraid of adult.
