Christina at Petco was absolutely wonderful with my dog, Maddie. From the moment we arrived, she took the time to really listen and understand Maddie's specific needs, preferences, and sensitivities, which immediately made me feel comfortable leaving her in her care. I asked that Maddie only receive a bath, blow dry, and nail trim (no haircut), and Christina followed every instruction perfectly, including using Maddie's special shampoo. Maddie came back looking beautiful! Extra fluffy, fresh, not matted at all, and most importantly, calm and in great spirits. What really stood out was Christina's kindness and genuine care. She took time to talk with me before and after the appointment, never made me feel rushed, and clearly treats the pets she works with like they're her own. The treats were such a sweet touch too! This was a disappointing visit. I scheduled an appointment for 12:30 PM to have my two Frenchies groomed. When I called ahead, I specifically asked if there were any requirements or documentation needed, and I was told no because Hawaii does not require rabies documentation. When I arrived, they asked if my dog had any allergies, and I explained that he does not, but he does experience seizures occasionally. The woman at the counter with long hair and a ponytail spoke with the manager, and I was then informed they could not groom him because of the seizures. They asked if he was on medication, which he is, and whether the seizures were triggered by noise, which they are not. I explained they only happen every few months. While I understand policies are policies and I did not argue their decision, it was frustrating to find this out only after arriving for the appointment. The manager did provide me with a recommendation for another groomer, which I appreciated. The manager answered my questions and gave me options for types of trimmers that I could use at home. However, the customer service afterward was what truly disappointed me. I mentioned I no longer wanted my other dog groomed but was interested in purchasing nail trimmers. The manager asked an employee to assist me. The employee walked away, and I followed her, but then lost sight of where she went. I eventually found her sitting at the front of the store waiting for someone else to bring the item. When she finally acknowledged me, she simply said, "Oh, I'm waiting for them to bring it to me." The issue was not the wait itself, it was the lack of communication. I was left standing there confused, having to look for the employee, only to find her sitting down without ever telling me what was going on. I've been bringing my baby girl Lily to Rayy for grooming for a couple of years now! She is fantastic and very pet friendly, and we will miss her when we move soon. Our Lily girl is high anxiety and Rayy's confidence helps Lily know that she is safe, and keeping to our routine of about every 6-8 weeks has truly helped our pup. Every time we come in, she takes every client one on one and treats them as the best and like only dog in the world! It's especially comforting being a pittie mom, with the unfortunate constant stigma! Sales staff have also been very friendly when I come by for treats, food and toys for any occasion! The morning crew seems to work very hard, and through that effort, they manage to always help me when I need it. I hope our next home has staff as helpful and supportive! read more

Absolutely terrible customer service at this location. I called simply to ask if they had a specific dog food in stock before coming in. Instead of answering my question, the male employee with a very condescending voice decided to lecture me on "how their system works." I work in applications; I don't need a lesson on inventory systems. I asked because Petco's online ordering system is crap--I've had multiple orders canceled due to lack of inventory. Worse, when I pay with gift cards, Petco never refunds the money back to the gift cards when they cancel. I just wanted a simple stock check to avoid the hassle. I'm giving this place one star after my incident today. I was picking up my online order and my son wanted to look at the fish. My husband went with our son as I was looking at the dogs that were up for adoption. When I got to them, they were at the sink where the employees wash their hands. And employee comes around the corner and tells them the sink is only for employees. My husband (calm and nicely) said sorry and our son just wanted to turn on the sink. The employee (TY) looked at their hands and it was dry and goes on to tell them they can use the public bathroom and points in that direction. I got upset because he was very rude about it, you can tell he hated his job and didn't want to be there at all. I'm mad because my son is on the spectrum and he enjoys anything with water. Being mad, I said I'm sorry my son is autistic but you didn't need to act like that. Mind you no one else is there and i said it loud enough for my husband to hear it. Out of no where the employee TY said, Yea I know. And that's why I am complaining. Because yes I know I didn't need to say what I said. But as an upset parent, sometimes you say things when your angry. At the same time the employee didn't need to say his remark to us. Please teach your employees to have more manners. This is the worst Petco ever! This is coming from my wife and daughter. My wife mentioned that she wasn't greeted when she first walked in which usually isn't an issue to her but apparently there was like 3 workers talking about video games when she walked in she felt ignored. She then asked for assistance to get fish for our daughter and some punk kid named TY felt very threatening and rude to our 3 year old daughter. He basically yelled at her when she was just looking at the fish's. She never had her hand on the glass and my wife has video proof since she was recording her. Apparently he then walked away with a grinning smile while our daughter cried to my wife. This used to be my to go petco but after my horrible experience I've started going to Petsmart. I asked a worker for help and he seemed unhappy from the start. I needed a specific food bag for my dog he has a sensitive stomach. I may have been a bit pushy but I apologized first before I asked for help. Not only was the food out of stock but I asked the worker if he can check the back. He then started shoving a phone in my face saying "look, LOOK!" We have none"! Some other shoppers came to me and comforted me while the worker stormed off angrily. This was such a devastating experience and my husband will be calling a higher up and getting this worker written up as we have seen complaints about this young man on other reviews. His name is TY. I guess good help is hard to find these days. I was at the strip mall to go to Hana Tea, since the Dillingham location closed. I noticed that Petco was across the way and wanted to see if they had any animals in there. I walked in and there were three associates just standing around by the entrance. The store looked pretty dead. Not one of them greeted me or asked if I needed any help. I just walked right past them and roamed the store. I've taken an affinity to fishes lately and noticed all the bettas in cups. They were all so colorful. However, I noticed this translucent one that was iridescent. He was calling out to me and I knew I had to buy him. I picked up the cup and literally waited there for fifteen minutes for a worker to come by the department. I wasn't sure if they needed to bag it. She said to just take it to the register like that and pay for it. I wasn't sure how to set up the tank, but didn't feel like asking. The Pearl City Petco staff has gone from fantastic to aloof and condescending. I needed to get my dog a new collar and dog tag. I got the collar. I needed help with getting a dog tag. There was no one in line, I asked the cashier, Cindy if she could help me. She told me in an impatient tone to read the instructions, it's easy. My response was so you're not going to help me or is there anyone else who can, a manager perhaps. Instead an associate named Abel comes over. He tells me the same thing as Cindy sounding exasperating. He told me pick a tag, pay for it and then engrave it. He went as far as reading the code on the receipt then told me to do the rest. I had trouble inserting the tag so he did it and looked at me like I was bothering him. I thanked him. He walked away without a word. Seriously, Petco Pearl City employees and manager (another incident) acts as if they are doing me a favor by being there. Grabbing your online order is a chore since you have to find an associate within the store to grab it. They did not acknowledge our presence at the check in counter, no greeting, very rude. We did not feel like valued customers. There should always be a staff member to greet customers. My dog is such a hyper dog that it is difficult to cut her nails. Even when I take her in for her wellness exams - they aren't able to do it. I called to see if the groomers were busy and they made an appointment straight away. We had just left our vet. The groomer came out to greet my dog- get to "know" her. March 2024 I had sent my baby fur shitzu to do grooming and ask to do teddy bear cut yet when i came to pick-up, they shaved the whole hair out and paid for over $100 since its the full service. So dissappointing. June 2024 I made an appointment for my 2 dogs online and called in the store but can't get through so i left a msg yet i never get a call back. I've brought my cat here to this location for nail trims before and this last time I did, it didn't go as expected. I made a nail trim appointment 2 weeks prior to her appointment date. I get there, drop her off with the nail tech and walk around the store. I come back and I'm told that the tech was not able to do the nail trim due to how scared my cat was due to how busy they were with other dogs being groomed at the same time & the noise that was going on in the grooming department. I would have thought that with cat and dog services that they provide, they would have more time carved out in the schedule to make sure no other appointments were booked at the same time for cats or limit the amount of animals in the grooming department getting a service done. I'd suggest they make 1 small separate room for cats or dogs that have a difficulty around people or loud noises so they feel a little more comfortable getting a service. read more

This rating is specifically for the Petco puppy training. I like this store when I shop for my puppy. Great location, lots of parking. When I signed my puppy up for training, I was under the impression that the training space will be in the back or that we will have a larger area. The training space is actually at the front of the store right by the entrance. It is just blocked off by partitions that are low enough for strangers to peep and look in. This caused a lot of disruption to the class. Lots of dogs barking when they are entering/exiting the building and the space is so small! We had only 3 of us in this small area but it did not give us enough room. The trainer said that we should not let the dogs we are training to interact with each other so we had to keep them really close to us. Include that with the mask situation, I could barely hear what the trainer was saying. She was great, however... so kudos to her. She was friendly and sounded like she knew what she was doing. It's just the fact that this place is not logistically fit for a puppy training to be held. They should have it in the back where there aren't so many visitors peeping in with their pets. I only went to one session and decided not to go back. I just didn't think it was worth it. My puppy was stressed and we didn't have an overall good experience. I made visits to this Petco several times. For purchases of biscuits, antlers chew bones and grooming of nails and such. This store is clean, big and can be busy. And sometimes you can wait at the grooming desk for awhile. This last visit this past week gave this review a 1-star, if I could give a no star, I would. The girl at the grooming desk, was not friendly and cane off with an attitude. And this wasn't my first time coming for a nail trim. But it was a first fine I requested a buff with a nail trim. If I didn't have a hard time trimming my dogs nail, I wouldn't be paying someone to trim his nails. Secondly, I requested for an anal gland expression. In the past I was told that if the expression was empty, they wouldn't charge, however, on this visit, the girl said even if the glands are empty, they will charge because they attempted to try and express the glands. Ok. Understand. Maybe policy changed. Again. If I could express my dogs anal gland, I wouldn't ask someone to do it. This is my gripe. While I was waiting. And watching. I saw my dog being difficult. So I asked one of the employees to tell the girl that if she was having a hard time buffing his nails, that she could just trim it. When everything was done, then girl came out and she told me. Next time. It should be nail trim only. And just a little stuff came out from his anal glands. Ok. So when we came home and days after his visit to Petco pearl city, my dog's anal gland has been expressing all over the place. A few days ago a friend and I went into the store looking to see what kind of betta there were since she has been fish shopping. I however ended up finding a beautiful male betta who was obviously being treated for something because his water had a blue tint to it, let alone old pellets that had already turned green laying at the bottom of his cup. Besides filthy water and he was swimming a little weird. I took him to the register and asked the worker there if they adopt sick fish to homes or give discounts (which I know there is a policy that they do) she called over the manager named ABEL and explained the situation. ABEL then grabbed the cup and looked at him. I explained what I had just asked the other worker and he then told me "nope" they don't adopt fish out and started walking away with the fish in his had and rudely said "so you don't want him?!" I couldn't believe he was just about to just walk away mid conversation. As a manager he needs to have better customer service and a better attitude. I was super disappointed in this manager as he just brushed it off and had no care in his mind about this poor sick fish! Even though I really wanted to bring him home after the poor service, I refused to be treated that way and decided to leave . She informed me about what material to look for and what I can do to help my dogs fur grow back. She even went out of her way to find a collar in the size I needed. She also educated me regarding what type of food is for what and based on the nutrients and so much more! I've never experienced this kind of service before. I appreciated her one on one time with me and her excellent customer service skills. The groomer on the other hand, may have been having a bad day but best believe with her attitude, she did not get a chance to groom my fur-baby. Sad too because I like the Pearl City Petco when shopping for pet supplies! First and last time I will book a grooming appointment there. I normally groom my fur baby but I've had a hectic work schedule that I decided to book an appointment instead of grooming her myself. My friends and family spoke highly of the Ewa Beach Petco when looking for grooming recommendations and it's customer service but the Pearl city one is closer to me. I should've listened to my friends and family and gone to Ewa Beach instead. If it wasn't for Riley, I'd be giving the Pearl City Petco groomers a 1 star! read more

The kittens poor baby. 1 cutie kitten name Isaac must've lost his right eye recently. He would focus on you but turn sideways to see you with his 1 eye--- If you have room and is able to love a kitten. He's available $200 adopt fee. Well i left there with a new Collar for my cat. I'm not rating the whole Petco - just the grooming section. And this is based off of 2 visits, for 2 separate dogs, in 1 weekend. Saturday, brought my dog in for his 11:30am appt. Had to walk around the store for a little bit, as the groomer didn't arrive to work yet. Paperwork went smoothly, transition from me to groomer went smoothly - all was good. I was told the appt would take 1 hr. Great! 12:30pm comes along - no phone call. But that's fine, because I know sometimes appt run longer. 1pm comes along - no phone call. 1:30pm comes along - no phone call, so I decided to call and inquire if my dog was done with his grooming appt. Person who answered said my dog was done. When I went in to pick up my dog, the groomer said that she tried to call but that it went straight to voicemail. Claimed she left a message...riiiight. It's the next day later...and I don't see a voice message from PC petco?! Hmm... interesting. Today (Sunday), brought my other dog for her 1:30pm appointment. First red flag - the groomer gave me SOMEONE's ELSE's document to sign (Suzanne? Shelby? With a dog named Destiny. They gave me your paperwork :/). I only realized it was the wrong paper when I wrote a different number for them to contact me (since yesterday, the groomer claimed they called me but it went straight to vm). Transition from me to groomer went smoothly. This time, she didn't tell me how long it would take. I assumed it'd take just as long as yesterday, so I anticipated 2hrs - but because I gave a different number, this time I thought I'd get a phone call. 2:30pm came along - no phone call. 3:30pm came along - no phone call. Went in around 3:45pm. Saw the groomer servicing another dog (cute brindle frenchie), so she sent out another groomer to "relay the message" to me, which was "come back at 4:15pm." So I requested that she call me when my dog was ready and left to go wait in my car. 4:20pm came along - no phone call. I went inside to see what was going on and what did I see? The groomer servicing my dog - looking like she's rushing, at that. 4:26pm, I got a call, "your dog is done *click*." I went to retrieve my dog and was taken aback by what I saw. Where the hell is the hair on my dog's ears?! What happened to her face?! She doesn't look like the cute puppy dog that I gave at 1:30. I was so stunned, I forgot I was supposed to put her harness on, i was too busy looking at her. Once I snapped out of my shock, I didn't how to respond, so I uncomfortably asked, "why did it take 3hrs?" The groomer said, "I had 7 dogs. Sunday is our busiest day. If you need your dog done faster, you should schedule your dog on a week day." To which I replied with, "okay, thank you." Then Kaci unleashed her blue leash and walked away. I can definitely say I will not return to this Petco grooming in PC. It was just a month where our main groomer at another location was totally busy so I had to schedule at the PC location. Kaci had serviced one of my dogs in March, and I wrote (in my personal notes about groomers) that she was friendly and did my dog's nails well. That's why I chose her service both my dogs this weekend. Disappointing, Kaci did not live up to my positive notes this time around. She didn't do my dog's nails well yesterday, as they were barely buffed. And today, she wasn't professional in keeping communication with me in a span of 3 hrs - but more than that, she completely changed the look of my dog's puppy face. Most importantly, the intake desk really needs to get their sh*t together, because their paperwork is literally in a messy pile on the table. If I wanted to take a paper (with someone's contact info on it), I totally could. Heck, I was given someone else's paper today by the groomer!! I'm so glad I was able to schedule with our regular groomer at another location for next month. Never again, PC Petco. Never again. read more

They had a woman that was a great groomer and ran into other people that would take their dogs here specifically for this woman. She quit cutting large dogs Abe this place fell way off. Last time I took my dog here he came home with multiple razor burn marks.
