This is a really nice garden centre located right int he heart of car dealership country at Preston Farm in Eaglescliffe. On the plus side it does have a fairly big free car park. On the downside, that car park is nearly always full! Peter Barratts is a garden centre, so of course they sell the usual garden things you would expect but so much more too. They sell clothes, gifts, ornaments, Christmas decorations, gift books, calendars, and probably loads more that I can't remember at the moment. Oh, and there's a cafe, too. At Christmas they have a wonderful display of all the Christmas ornaments and lights it's like a little Santa's Grotto and we always like to take the children down for a look round, it's so magical! read more

Peter Barrats offer a wide range of plants, and outdoor products and is a large garden centre. The store also sells fish and fish tank accessories as well as home ware and trinkets. Various brands sold include Yankee Candles and Swarovski Crystal. There is a delightful café in store, selling refreshments and food. Seasonal products exist such as bird feeders and bird cakes in the spring, and Christmas trees and ornaments in the winter (There is about the best selection of Christmas ornaments available anywhere here!). Very popular garden centre and parking is difficult. read more

yeh, wait for ages to get served for the fish, and watch him batter the tank traumatise the fish, and treat them as though they were the plague of his existance, that old man wants to retire, and let someone who actually cares about fish, sell them. I watched a customer ask for a certain loach £25. worth, cause it would 'nt come out of the bog wood he shook that peice of wood, banged it on the side, held the wood out of the tank hoping the poor thing would drop back into the tank through total exhaustion from lack of oxygen, cause it wouldnt come out,he hammered it on the side of the tank, every fish quivering with sheer fright, I looked at the prospective customer, shook my heard, and asked her, if she really wanted to actually pay for a half shaken to death traumatised fish, thankfully she deceided to go to the restaraunt for a cup of tea while he continued his darstadly deed, if she had any sense she would have made her escape, left the store and saved her the bother of bring it back dead the next day. He needs a real talking to, and dont try and hide behind the very nice older man who sometimes assists on the aquarium section, who is the totally opposite of old captain hook the fish destroyer: Talking to my friend who also experienced similar fish treatment at the store: Buy the way the flowers, plants are beautiful, Highly reccommend this shop for the garden: a very pleasant experience, everything you could want for your garden is sold here. Not promoting oneself, just being honest: read more

i hyave bought fish from them in the past and a few months ago bought a fish tank the other week we recieved the vouchers from being a member so we went to go and spend them we live a while away and when we got there we didnt end up getting fish as we stood with a young child aged 4 and twins aged 9 months for nearly 1 hour waiting for staff to serve us we were only going to buy the fish because we had the vouchers if we didnt have the vouchers i wouldnt of even thought about buying any as the quality of the fish are crap there is always dead fish in their tanks we didnt end up getting fish that day as we had waited that long the children needed their tea. we went back a few days later to spend the vouchers and we didnt wait as long. i bought a red blood parrot fish and was told it would live with my other fish, i got home put it in my tank and noticed it was pinching my other fish, didnt think much of it i went out for a few hours and when i got back to of my other fish had died. TAKE MY ADVICE AND DONT BUY FISH FROM HERE! read more

Dreadful food! Went for lunch last week with a friend at Peter Barratt's Garden Centre 'restaurant'. The food is expensive and over-rated, service slow and inflexible. Wanted quiche and salad but told they could only service it with vegetables! Who ever heard of quiche served with boiled cabbage and carrots. Ended up with a very unappetising toastie and cold chips. My friend's baked potato was as hard as rock Never again....it used to be ok but has gone downhill. The prices are inflated though. read more

Peter Barratts in Stockton is a great place for anything you need for the garden or indoors / the staff are always helpful / the car park is big, is sometimes quite busy, but that shows what a great place it is very popular locally. Always my first choice for my fish tanks, outside ornaments, water features, outdoor fish, my chicken coop accessories and so much more ! read more
