American Savings Bank is an excellent local choice. The bank has a functioning, real time account…read moremanagement app which functions instantly so you can track electronic transactions. The fees are compatible to credit unions and if you open a business account they will start one with just a $50 deposit unlike local credit unions which want a minimum of $500! Try it, you'll like it!

I went here to open a savings account for my 3Month old child…read more I wanted to be a good parent and start saving account for my child. I wasnt used to banking with American Savings Bank because I had only banked with bank of hawaii and I was super sick and tired of the fees and limited service as well as bad customer service. Bank of Hawaii always makes me feel like I am a bothersome and hassle for them to hold my money. And they always find ways to make us pay fees. I went in there and told the banker exactly what I was looking for as I wanted to slowly build up a savings for my son. She seemed to hear me and know exactly what i wanted. She quickly signed me up for saving account and it took me about 20min total. She told me I had to sign a long disclaimer (which Im going to admit I KNOW NO ONE READS) because you trust your banker to tell you the important details. I was very very specific about the fact that I had bad experiences with Fees and that i could deposit small amounts of every couple of months. Megan made me feel great about this account. Gave my my new "saving account" check book balancer, the initial deposit receipt of 250$ and a pamphlet of what i thought was when i went home was a list of savings accounts (only to find out later she gave me a pamphlet on the checking accounts- NOT WHAT I SIGNED UP FOR). I trusted this banker as I thought she would tell me if I had met the minimum deposit or how to avoid fees. 1 MONTH later I get a letter in the mail with my statement showing 10$ fees ( 1 for not having the minimum balance and 1 for not enrolling in online bank/paper statements) I WENT IN THERE FURIOUS. Megan said this was all in the disclaimer i signed. To which I felt like she was trying to take advantage of my now 4M old son! To find out- she gave me the wrong pamphlet- she gave me a checking account NOT a savings account pamphlet. She said it was my fault bc I didnt read the 20+ page fine print disclaimer. Also she failed to mention that if I deposited another 50$ that I could avoid a fee. She also FAILED to mention that bc I dont have a checking account, I have to manually fill out a form to sign up for online banking and that I cant sign up for an online banking access like a normal person. Right now I am going to make the minimum deposit so i can create a savings for my child But MEGAN was very non informative and the fact that she told me that she couldnt even recall the conversation let alone me when she opened my account tells me this may not be the place I should be banking. Her non attention to detail and lack of concern is very disturbing for a banker and not qualities I would want in an employee who worked for a bank I banked with. GRRRRRRRRR
