Oh, I shop here all the time but never tried the Hot bar until today. I didn't feel like cooking so I gave it ago. The bar was filled with just about everything you could think of. I chose grilled lamb chops, asparagus. Mac n cheese and jerk shrimp rice. The chops were too fatty and very greasy. The rice was GREAT and somewhat spicy, hence "jerk". Mac was good. The asparagus was a little too crunchy. I like them to be more softer. The price was reasonable $11.99 a lb which came out to $20.99..Great idea for a quick meal. read more

I like this Pete's produce, I truly do. I like the fresh produce and choice meat products. I usually get everything I need at this Pete's without having to go to another store in the area. The prices are high like most establishments and I expect that however what I won't tolerate are some of the cashiers "over ringing "during checkout. This has happen to me three times, 1. the cashier scanned a product twice, 2. The cashier charge me for a case of water I didn't buy. 3. The cashier charged me for a product I didn't purchase. Idk if the cashier are over ringing for the company or taking products purchased by customers as their own. It's a hassle reviewing receipts and returning to the store for mistakes. read more

Pete's is my favorite grocery store in Chicago. I visit Chicago bi-monthly and I also make sure I pick up my groceries the day of my arrival. They offer a wide variety of fresh veggies and fruits. The same in the meat section. I like the cut of the short ribs. Pete's has a breakfast bar and delicious hot meals. Thinking that they sell a lot of spoiled food, but they can't mess this up. Guess what? As soon as I got home, put the groceries away, then opened the salad dressing and Pee-F'n-U! It was spoiled to high Heaven! This is the fifth time I have complained about their rotten food. Omg I was in Pete's a couple days ago qnd purchased probably $40-50 in ready to eat food. A chicken salad on a croissant guac and chips a chopped salad bag of chips and rice pudding. Everything was so bland like they don't have a packet of dressing anywhere for salads. I had to ask lady at checkout for a fork and the guacamole although it says mild is extremely extremely hot. It's meat nirvana. I haven't been to a market in many years that had the different selections of cuts that Pete's had to offer. Usually in the nasty ol' suburb of Naperville, you are stuck with the so called "premium" meats which end up being crap and spoiling only a few days later. Also, you cannot find specialty meats like pig feet or beef tongue that looks half decent and won't make you worry that Montazuma will strike your ass down. At Pete's, not only were those items present but fresh as well. Plus the pricing could not be beat. I was impressed. Like I said I was in meat heaven. The fruit and veggie selections were just as good. Everything looked so fresh, it was hard to choose what to get. A big plus, everything stayed fresh in the fridge for a long time. The downside is the prepackaged or name brand items tend to run high. Think Centrella prices. It gets crowded but never to the point that you have to fight with someone to get down an aisle. That was refreshing. I know when I'm back in the area, I'll be hitting Pete's up again. read more

They only letting in 75 people at time and they are CLEANING EACH CART before you get it. I was looking for Lamb Chops for weekend and some veggies, fruit. Went to Pete's in Evergreen Park this morning. Looking to buy Oberweis milk 2%. Well a few dates were the beginning of October way past the sell date and most were either todays date or the 20th. Now I don't know how much milk you drink but I can not do a half gallon in a couple of days. Beware when buying diary and check the dates. Extremely helpful & friendly staff, great produce, deli, meats, and the EP location has salad & olive bars, a great cheese counter, hot foods to go....it's just terrific! And yes...they carry organic produce & products. (The prices are fantastic on the produce and the deli. The regular grocery is hit or miss but you can check out their weekly ad on their website. Many things are indeed priced the same as Jewel or Dominick's.) It's super packed on the weekends right now (they just opened on 1/20) so be prepared to wait for parking! BEST PRODUCE in the SW burbs! I can't rave enough about Pete's and I recommend this store to everyone. The produce section is huge. The prices are great. The produce is friggin' amazing. I really haven't had anything bad. This is my go-to place to shop, especially when I am eating healthy. Everything is fully stocked, clean, organized - and just really, really good. You cannot beat the price and quality! I go to Pete's weekly. I stock up on fruits, veggies & meats. I don't bother with the processed food. The meat is good quality, packed tightly, and tastes great. This place is always packed, so nothing sits very long. People are loading up their carts with meat! They do have a nice deli and bread/cake section, though I don't normally buy stuff from those sections. They also have some pre-made food - chickens, ribs, tamales, salads. They have a huge specialy cheese section and olive bar. Really - just a great store overall. Go early, because it does get very crowded! read more
