I reached out to Pete's and it was such a pleasure from start to finish. Started out with a yelp message, yes through this silly app, but they were so responsive, set me up an appointment, no need to worry about anything they come with a truck, dollies, pads, ties, and a loading dock. Movers showed up on time, were courteous and professional and heck even helped with some packing. Since we were a technical move, we were nervous. The first thing they said when they showed up was, oh hey, we've done this type of move before! I was thrilled as you can only lift this equipment from certain spots without damage. Happy we used this reliable moving company. Movers Anthony, Fluffy and Julian were awesome! It's such a vulnerable thing to have your belongings in other peoples' hands. These guys showed up on time, worked quickly and carefully packaged everything up. They also made sure everything fit in our storage unit. Plus, they were fun to be around and have great taste in music. The reason for the 4 stars is that I felt the company wasn't clear on pricing. The contract says the price quote includes wrapping of furniture. At the time of the move, I was told they'd have to charge extra for paper pads because our furniture is going into storage. Because of this, we had to pay $300+ more than we budgeted for. I emailed the company telling them that they should have been clear on this extra cost, and they agreed to deduct 1/3 of the cost because of the confusion. I appreciated that they got back to me right away about this. Other than that, everything was great! read more

Overall, disappointed in this service. We had a big move and knew it would be a long day. We went with this company since they were great/professional during the quote process and ultimately offered the best price! However - as the day went on, it became clear this would not be a company we'd use again OR recommend. Here's a synopsis: Pro: - On time - flexible with scheduling changes - Plenty of guys to help - mostly nice guys - took proper care of furniture (wrapped, etc) - worked well around my 3 young kids (all under 5)- as in: didn't seem visibly annoyed by them despite their shenanigans Cons: - while they were On time, they showed up with a different (smaller) truck than what was agreed upon. We all Lost about an hour of time while one guy left to trade the truck that was about half the size it needed to be. Granted the rest of the crew continued to work with the one truck that was the right size - but they were a guy short during this process which definitely impacted the process, in my opinion - Absolutely no COVID precautions. Not even a mention of whether they should wear masks or gloves while they worked. We were fine with them not - but it was a pretty blatant disregard for safety during a time when all businesses are doing things to be safe, etc. (for their staff AND their customers). - Sooo sloppy. I cleaned up many things behind them along the way: water bottles, half drank Gatorade bottles, tape rolls. When they moved my refrigerator, there was a trail of water from the kitchen to the outside that NO ONE wiped up. When I asked if they had a towel (you know, since mine were all in boxes!), they just said no .... when they left for the day, they left behind 2 moving blankets that were still on televisions - I think this was a clear display of their lack of care in the entire process - they didn't even check to make sure they had all their OWN stuff before they left! - we had to ask them to wear booties In our BRAND NEW home we were moving into ...(apparently this is not a standard practice?). They claimed they'd have to stop and get them. Then said they did try to get them between the old house and new place, but couldn't because they were sold out? Then couldn't understand why my husband asked them to put down carpets - which ultimately they did, but that this required explanation was pretty disappointing. - left cigarette butts in my driveway. Also - smoking during this job seems weird. The trail of smoke that follows you after a smoke break is pretty strong. We are not smokers and have 3 small kids - this was a disappointing display of judgment. Not sure what company protocols are around this, but if you're in MY home, I don't think this should be allowed. Do it between houses or something when you can drive and air yourself out.! - no regard for clearly labeled boxes: many were placed upside down (including ones that said FRAGILE with very clear arrows pointing in the up direction) and MANY boxes were placed in the wrong room I'd come to find out as I was unpacking. - part of their fee includes set up of furniture. Near the end they slowed down so much we ended up doing most of it as they worked - which they never even acknowledged. We literally saved them a minimum of 2 hours by putting my kids' beds together ourselves- which frankly we also did ourselves because by the time we could do this, I didn't trust they would do it right or well and worried my kids would end up on the floor!They put together my sectional couch completely wrong then watched me and my husband fix it and never said a word about it ...nor offered to help. - scuffed 2 of my walls and NEVER said anything. This was a BRAND NEW home. The scuffs were no big deal and I have touch up paint to fix it, but that NONE of them thought they should say something was a clear sign of their lack of integrity. - weird shift change of guys mid way. Literally a brand new person was walking thru my home with my stuff and no one thought to say anything. I had to ask who he was. - the youngest guy was heard talking with the others about things like: other jobs where workers showed up drunk, how he'd been fired before by Pete, and also about how "most customers don't tip...". Wellll - I can see why not, frankly. - we supplied them with water - it was hot as heck out during our move and Idk why they weren't prepared with this! I was more than happy to give water - and was glad we had plenty of extra bottles on hand. Poor planning on their end in my opinion. Notably- this is a really hard job and I totally get it. But, it's also a service we PAY for. I was disappointed in the lack of professionalism displayed throughout the day. This was a stark contrast from my experience during the quote process and I felt pretty duped. I'm giving more than one star only because we had a good experience in the set up process (quote, schedule changes, etc.) and think that's worth something. read more

Pete's Moving Service is the Moving Service from Hell. The movers cracked the screen on my 65-inch TV and broke the processor. TV is now worthless. They did not reassemble my adjustable bed correctly and they lost the motor and connecting cables. They also disassembled my adjustable sofa, lost the cables, and lost the motor. They inserted the refrigerator into its nook, but did not plug it in or connect it to the water supply. Food was spoiled. They did not connect my washer and dryer. They did not connect my computer to its peripherals. They wadded up two tuxedos and tossed them on top of a bag of garbage that was intended to be put in the trash. Instead of hanging clothes, they took suits, sport coats, and other items and stuffed them into a wardrobe box. My list is longer than I care to write, and I have photographed the extent of the destruction. A remote controlled model speed boat (a house-warming gift that was still in the box) is missing. Only the movers had been in my house. And, on top of everything else, they left garbage, wadded-up packing tape, and food wrappers all over the place. I can't believe that this is the same company to which others have given 4- and 5-star reviews. I indicated one star only because there was no option for zero or, preferably, negative "stars." read more

These guys were great! Pete and his two helpers showed up on time and got to work. We hired them to move the contents of two large storage units and pack them in to a 22' moving truck for our drive across America. They quickly went to work sizing up the items and organizing them for the best fit in the truck. Pete was the pack master and seemed to do a good job making everything fit tight and secure. They carefully wrapped all the furniture in blankets (provided by us) and shrink wrap. Pete even thrown in two of his own blankets when we ran out. 2700 miles and six days later all the contents made it with out a scratch. I never usually never write reviews but I Had a scheduled move for Monday, Fired my contracted movers the day before and called Pete's. They were able to get a crew together for the move the next day at an extremely reasonable price. The 3 movers who arrived (Fred Anthony and little Bernie) were amazing-they worked non stop were very polite, cautious and detail oriented. I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy!! Not only did they show up late, but their packing skills were horrible! I paid $4200 to have them professionally pack up my whole house. They literally threw my necklaces in wrapping and when I unpacked them it was a ball of knots. I'm still trying to untangle my necklaces. The worst part is my $12k wedding ring was stolen. The owner said he interviewed the movers and all denied it!!!! They used my expensive bedding to wrap lamps and other items. I've used professional movers in the past that did a fabulous job and I expected the same from this company. I was extremely disappointed and upset how this company was such poor quality. I'm 65 years old and my husband is 76 years old. Needless to say, we needed Pete's Moving Service. We were too weak to move furniture in our own home. I was totally frustrated with not being able to accomplish this task, but I got in touch with Pete's Moving Service by way of Yelp. We negotiated initially by way of Yelp, and that was really easy. Then we switched to text messages. I had the opportunity to send photos of the job and that really helped streamline my estimate. I want to do a special shout out to Matthew, Wayne and Monty. These were the gentlemen that Pete sent to our home. They arrived right when they said they would arrive. I was especially impressed with how polite, professional and kind they were. They all had such incredible patience with my indecision. They started by listening to what my plans were for the entire move. We had two beds and two shelves and a lot of boxes and two recliner chairs to move. The icing on the cake was the fact that they were willing to take away an ancient exercise bicycle and a few old filing cabinets. What I had only hoped for, I received, ten times over. This was money well spent! I have kept Pete's Moving Service number for the future. The best part was the way they patiently let me recline in both reclining chairs, in order to find out if they were exactly situated where I wanted them, both in the upright and the reclining positions!! Communication was excellent they called 30 minutes before arriving and walked us through the whole process asking if we wanted things wrapped in plastic of blankets. Brandon Matthew and Uriel showed up to our house Brighton early and got straight to work wrapping and moving some of the heaviest items we had to transfer to the new house... They were so knowledgeable and kind and efficient I cannot believe how good they were... It's like we had moving fairies that made everything magically go so much smoother... We had some seriously heavy items like a cement patio table and odd shaped oversized mirror and even A bunkbed that needed to be broken down... I hired Pete's Moving Services a year ago to move from a one bedroom apartment in Berkeley, to one in Dublin, CA. The move was a disaster from start to finish. To start off, they arrived over THREE hours late for the move. It was supposed to start at 8am and they arrived at 11:10. I've never in my life seen movers go SO slow. One of the guys had no idea what he was doing, and the other was a very heavy set man, and it wasn't possible to move quickly. It took them three hours alone to load the truck. Keep in mind everything was already boxed, they didn't wrap or use blankets for any items, and there was an elevator. (To give you an idea, the next time I moved, it took under three hours to both load and unload my apartment, and this with a broken elevator.) To top it off, they chipped the ONE piece of furniture I had asked them to take special care of. When I first booked the movers, I mentioned my Nana's antique dressing table, and how much it meant, and it was the only item that had real value to me. It had been broken once before in a move, years back, so I'm vert cautious with it. I reiterated to two guys when they arrived to be extra extra careful. And yet, the dressing table arrived chipped. I put in a claim and Pete said they would have someone fix it, but then over time he stopped getting in touch, or replying to emails. Finally I was able to contact him and he admitted they couldn't fix it. I would not recommend this moving service, and would never use them again. read more

I first contacted Pete several months ago to inquire about a future move from Oakdale to Oceanside, California. Pete came out and did an estimate based on the information I had at that time. A few months passed and I finally had an idea when I would be moving. When I contacted Pete, he told me no problem and to contact him when my moving date became known. When that date became known, I notified Pete. He worked with me to arrange for a packer and a 2-man crew to move some furniture around in my house. On both occasions the people he sent arrived on time and were skilled at what they needed to do. A week later I was all packed and ready to move. Pete's crew arrived on time and promptly went to work loading the truck. Three hours later they were loaded and told me they would meet me in Oceanside the next day. The truck arrived in Oceanside the next day, on time, and the 2-man crew unloaded the truck. I experienced no damage or lost items. My cost was exactly what was quoted in my estimate given to me months earlier. I really appreciated the fact that Pete was able to meet my schedule with what I would consider fairly short notice. UPDATE: After several attempts to resolve and providing Pete with estimate for repair of furniture. He has failed to offer a reasonable settlement for the $1970.00 repair of my furniture. Don't be fooled by the four stars. I wish I had paid more attention to the bad reviews because they are spot on. We are very disappointed with the services received from this company. For example Pete Bosman, the owner, described to my wife about the stringent screening process for his workers. He said the movers were background checked, drug tested and trained. But the movers said they didn't undergo background checking, or drug testing and did not receive any training. Our $2,000 Samsung refrigerator was damaged during the move. We brought this to the attention of Pete and he said he would discuss with his movers and get back to us. When we didn't hear from Pete, we called Pete and he said he wasn't going to pay the $160 (based on weight) because the crew said the damage wasn't there when they left. Although he didn't come out and say it, he was insinuating we damaged our $2000 Samsung fridge shortly after the the move crew left. We ended up going with Pete's because it was one of the cheaper estimates. But, in the end, we got charged a lot more because it is not a fixed price. They needed 1.3 truckloads which added many more hours. Could they have fitted all of it into a single truckload? I am not an expert, but I believe they could have completed the move within 1 truckload. I made the mistake of asking for a 4th mover. Thinking it would speed up the move. But it just ended up costing me more. Speaking for myself, it is almost as if Pete's business model is to land the job with low estimates, and then maximize the hours using cheap untrained labor. If I move again, first I will not use Pete Bosman services, and second, I would look for a fixed price, after they come out for a site visit. No one from Pete's came out to look at anything. For a 3bd, 1500 sqft, home it took them almost 12 hours to move. We never received a copy of the contract. There was just one paper to sign and the movers took it with them, leaving us with no copies. read more
