Be warned that when you do arrive it may at first glance seem eccentric and off putting, but do not stray away from this tour. It was everything you can imagine. They provide you with wet suits and snorkeling equipment. They also offer tea, hot coco and coffee to warm you up after your swim. Once you get there, there are several places they will stop at. The first place we stopped at was around 8-9 feet deep and then we stopped at another place near the spring which was around 4ft deep. Now I am not a strong swimmer at all and was a little tentative about going in but they were able to provide me with a life vest and a floaty which enabled me to participate. The staff was extremely helpful in locating manatees as well as taking photos. The wife took a bunch of photos, and once we got back we were pleasantly surprised that the majority of the photos were really well taken. Again, DO NOT miss out on this. They charged $40 per person, and we gave them a tip. the overall experience was amazing. We saw roughly 7-10 different manatees. The wife said that during the winter months there are hundreds of manatees to interact with, so if you can plan accordingly she recommended it. It was a breath taking experience and a must do. I almost lost my life at Rainbow River, and I feel like I need to share this for anyone considering…read moretubing there. I came expecting a peaceful, relaxing experience because that's what you see in the pictures and reviews. Instead, I ended up in one of the scariest moments of my life. I fell out of my tube and got stuck in deep mud. My water shoe was literally sucked into the mud, and I couldn't push myself up from the bottom. I couldn't get back on my tube because my legs were stuck, and I had already gone underwater and was coughing. What made it even worse was that my daughter, who cannot swim, had drifted away and I couldn't see her. I truly thought I might drown and that something could happen to my daughter. I was panicking, crying, and shaking. By the grace of God, I saw the only boat nearby and flagged them down. They went back and picked me up and my daughter too. I will never forget the people who helped us. I truly believe they prevented a tragedy that day. Another important thing to mention is that this happened toward the evening on a weekday, and there were almost no people left on the river. We were some of the last people out there. I got incredibly lucky that there happened to be a boat nearby because otherwise, I don't know what would have happened to me or my daughter. What upsets me the most is that there was no real safety briefing or warning about the risks. We were given tubes and sent off. No one explained the currents, deep areas, muddy bottoms, or what to do in an emergency. No one recommended life jackets to us, even though not everyone in our group could swim. Please understand that there are no lifeguards. Depending on the time of day, you may find yourself with very few people around to help in an emergency. If I hadn't been able to flag down that boat, this story could have ended very differently. I later learned that other people have had similar frightening experiences here, and I understand why. Please, if you decide to go: * Wear a life jacket, especially if you are not a strong swimmer. * Do not assume the water is shallow because it's a spring. * Do not bring children or adults who cannot swim without extra precautions. * Understand that there are no lifeguards and you are responsible for your own safety. This experience was so traumatic for me that I still have flashbacks and cannot imagine ever returning. A beautiful place can still be dangerous, and I wish I had known that before I went. Please stay safe.

Rodney was "drivin the boat" with style & class, while also being our handy dandy pool noodle handler. Austin was the man, he told us all about the manatees and marinated wet suits. I guess manatees are actually buff like body builders, ultimate sleeper build. Taking us to the hot spots we were finally in the water with what looked like giant turds; gentle turds. They kinda just live life, eating and sleeping while you stare at their muscles and watch them breathe. The amount of mental discipline you have to have is , you want to scream and squirm but can't. It might startle the manatees, the struggle was real. It was nice to get out with kind, genuine people, we were vibing. So all in all get ur butt over here and make some memories you'll never forget. Well here it is 10 months later and I am still THRILLED with the kayak that Kirk put me into and I've put many many miles on it. He listened to the type of paddling I wanted to do and along with my experience and vehicle I was going to haul it with he did a great job. He also showed me how to tie it on my car securely. The price was so much cheaper than the same thing at a sporting shop down in St. Petes. He also will give you a 15% discount on any future purchases. I've called him a few times with questions since my purchase and he has always been very helpful. I know at some point I will be moving up to a faster more sea worthy yak and I have no doubt I will be buying from Riversports again.
