Was happy to meet up with my gf this morning at Petinos on March 4th @1030am. Looking fwd to our girl talk! We were seated by the owner (tall Greek discontented-looking man). He proceeds to seat us at our table, and warns us that we have the table for 1,5 hrs but if there's a lineup, he'll have to "kick us out". I was taken aback the instant he used those words. I then asked my gf if I heard right. And asked the patrons sitting next to us if they heard the same thing, which not only they did but found the owners tone rude and unacceptable. I could've just sat and had my breakfast. I just couldn't and felt very awkward. I waved at him so he can come to our table, and mentioned, nicely, that mentioning he'd have to "kick us out if there was a lineup" wasn't appropriate behaviour. Very quickly, he got very angry and defensive, mentioned he did not and could not have used those words, mentioned that I was clearly having a bad day (what?), and said they're were signs out front for this exact situation (lol..,what situation...the situation where people can't show some self-respect, or the situation where guests must be pre-warned prior to entering your establishment that the owner is a belligerent and discontented person who's in-adept working in the customer service industry?) That's not all. After he showcased this inappropriate behaviour (also in front of other patrons seated next to us, jeez), he frantically waves his arms like a crazy person, and asks us to leave ?! Wtf? Who is this person? Buddy, you're the owner of a family-friendly (supposedly) restaurant? Shame on you for this very disconcerting behaviour. You need some serious psychological help sir. I only wish people reading this review will NOT or CEASE to attend your establishment. I will never step foot in your restaurant again, as you've brought shame and frankly, a bad aura into it. We went to Allô mon coco instead (place vertu) and you know what, they were all smiles, coffee was replenished every 10 min, the service was impeccable (unlike at Petinos unfortunately where I used to have to repeatedly ask for smtg). I now see the difference in service and attitude. Sir, let me tell you something : in this period of uncertainty and economic hardships, you're in no place to send customers away ... especially after being rude to them yourself. If you don't like your job, and clearly you seem very distressed about it, leave the hosting/seating guests, to tactful and courteous personnel. This bad review will pass around, I'll make sure of it, and thankfully I have a very large circle or friends living in the VSL. I hope you'll no longer be concerned with long lineups. read more

Petinos is me and my friends favourite place to have brunch! The staff are always great and the service is pretty quick once you're sat down. Their breakfast food is by far one of the best in Montreal, comparing to other chains like Tutti Frutti, Allo mon coco and Chez Cora. I recommend the Montérégie half waffle with strawberries, English cream and Nutella served with eggs, bacon and potatoes on the side. It also comes with toast and coffee. Their hollandaise sauce is delicious and you can also top it off on your potatoes! The portions are also very generous, so take it easy when ordering. The prices are decent, however, take into account all of the extras you decide to add because it adds up. The only con would have to be the lineup, especially is you're a group of 5+. Me and my group of friends tend to wait about 20-25mins before getting a table during weekends, but the wait is worth it for the food and the price we pay. read more

Petinos is one of my favorite breakfast chains and I just found out they have a location in St-Laurent. It's a bit smaller than the others I've been to and one of the few things I didn't like about this location is that the booth we opted for which was to seat 4 was a real tight fit. It could have made use of another half foot for comfortable seating. The place is really busy and I'm not a fan of being cramped spaces. I went with a half-waffle under a nice mountain of goodies with the standard far of eggs, sausage, etc. Breakfast was really good. Pricing was good. Service was surprisingly good, fast coffee refills and we were in and out in an hour. We came a little early to beat the rush and I'm happy we did since the queue when we left was outside the door... in minus -25 Celsius weather. These peeps are committed. read more

Been to this location several times it is a great breakfast place. The French Toast is at a great medium between fluffy and dense. While moist is not a easy word to say, it's important in french toast and apparent in this one. One final thing in trifecta is it has a good crisp but not crunch on edges which is good sign. The pancakes are very similar in quality and require the same features. The goal is to make brunch be not so destructive on your insides being you first meal. The bacon is crisp just how i like it. The potatoes are done their own way which is crisp wedges which are bit heavy but good. And the fruits are always fresh, crisp sweet and sour. read more

Brunch in Montreal is a whole new ball park. I typically stay away from Brunch spots in Toronto, simply because I believe they charge ridiculous prices for items you could probably make just as good at home. BUT, in Montreal you have to eat brunch. These restaurants are packed on the weekends, as expected given the quality of the food they serve. Whenever I get the chance to go to Petinos I always order one of the montegeries. This is simply a breakfast plate that comes with 2 eggs, 2 pieces of toast, a load of house potatoes, your choice of protein, baked beans & your choice of half a waffle. ALL OF THIS FOR AROUND $15.00!! I've heard everything else on the menu is good, which I whole heartedly believe but I can't let go of this dish. Now the house potatoes come in abundance of not only portions but flavour. Wow, I don't know how they can get them so crisp & flavourful. The baked beans are amazing. The eggs you choose how you want them & go well with the wonderful, buttery, soft pieces of toast they give you. There are also a variety of spreads for the toast, from caramel to jams to maple syrup. And just when you think you've had too many carbs, take a bite of your protein. Now I think the winner of the dish, is the waffles. Not only do you get a filling meal but you get to top it off with a Belgian waffle. They are so fluffy & good, it is crazy. The English cream isn't too sweet & so smooth. So so so good. The price is amazing, the food is amazing & the wait is worth it. read more

Went there yesterday for lunch with a friend. I was standing at the front where the hostess is and another family came in behind me. The hostess walked right past me and went straight to the family (standing behind me) and started chatting with them. She did not acknowledge me at all before walking past me. When she walked past me again, I asked her who taught her manners and why she ignored me and went to speak to the family first. She probably didn't understand what I said as I spoke in English and not in french... she went to the back and complained to someone and an extremely rude man came out and started shouting at me and all the other patrons who were waiting to be seated. There was absolutely no reason for the outburst and the abusive behaviour. The manager or whoever he was was NOT interested in listening to anything I had to say about what happened and continued to scream and berate me. The manager was shouting and essentially said that he is willing to "put up with any behaviour from staff because he is unable to find staff". If a manager that I worked with, came out and publicly berated and belittled customers, I probably wouldn't want to work there either. There is no reason to be screaming at your patrons without even listening to BOTH sides of the story. I would not recommend going to this restaurant as there are many other breakfast places you can visit in Montreal with a nicer atmosphere and staff. read more

A new location and has been open less than a month ago. I have to rate it again, as it was over crowded and service was very poor. I would give it another chance just because it recently opened, however the food was very average and there was a big lineup. We have ordered a few different dishes as we went there with our friends, and in general we thought the the fries was good overall but as for the eggs and other dishes they were ok. Never Never EVER order the tuna sandwich, it felt like they didn't have time to make it, so they just opened a can of cheap Tuna (in Water), and just put it in the sandwich! No seasoning no dressing not even a slice of tomato!!! Nothing at all!! It is a nice clean place and good for families with kids, however there are no crayons or anything special for kids. A useful note: pay attention to your bill... there were few mistakes. read more

Another brunch place! Same story as last time (refer to my review of L'Avenue). Ending a long night shift, I was on the hunt of a good brunch. My friends had already planned to go here so I joined them. We called for a reservation for 10 people and were able to get one for 9am, right before the rush. Around 11am, the place was packed. As for the food, I ordered from the Monteregie menu, which includes a half-waffle with toppings of your choice, 2 eggs, potatoes and a choice of meat. Being super hungry, I opted for all the extras possible, so i went for the extra benedict sauce on the potatoes and took all the meats. Needless to say, my portion was enormous. While the first half was enjoyable, the rest of it became a chore (my fault though). Food quality is decent and their waffle is very good even though that was the last thing I ate. Service was also very good, with constant refills of coffee. I would come back with a reasonable appetite. Also bonus points for parking spots! read more

If you're a big group make sure everyone is present when you arrive or shortly thereafter if not the dude who assigns the tables will make sure to ridicule you. We were a total of 9, which included 4 kids. When our table was ready, 2 were missing. He refused to have us sit at the table which I would understand if he gave it away to the next group. But he held it empty until everyone was present. He also gave us a speech on how he didn't appreciate us not all being there. So in terms of customer centric - not quite! But the 4 stars is for the food. Portions are bigger it seemed than the laval location and was totally delicious. The latte and cappuccino was also on point. We came here semi regularly since it's walking distance from home. Today however was disappointing. One strawberry on one plate was dirty, really dirty. Told our waitress, she walked away with it and no feedback. We now doubt the cleanliness of all the fruit. We will not be back anytime soon. The food was pretty good! However, they messed up our reservation and made us wait 10 to 15 minutes for our table. The lady at the front did not even apologize for this which I found annoying. This place has awful hospitality. They won't seat your party until everyone is inside the building (even if someone is just parking), which I can almost understand when the place is very busy. As if the first part didn't already rub me the wrong way, when I asked for a salad instead of toast, potatoes and fruit, I was told it would cost me extra (to get less on my plate)! I asked to speak to the manager about it and he came out, his name is Chris, and was rude and confrontational from the get-go and did not care. Totally unapologetic about it. I am trying to make healthier choices for myself, and this is the first time I've been charged for a salad instead of potatoes, let alone toast and fruit. I went to have breakfast this morning at Petinos in St Laurent. There was a 45 minutes wait. The place is small. I have to comment on the manager who was excessively rude. It was our turn to be seated we were 4 but my daughter was in the parking lot parking her car so the manager said to me that since my daughter was not physically present I couldn't of been seated. He said for all I know she could be parked far away therefore you will have to wait when another table comes available and your daughter has to be physically there. As he escorted the other group my daughter walked in. I was very disappointed. The disrespect of the manager was enough for me to say I'm not coming back. read more

Great breakfast/brunch/lunch. Portions are huge. Resto gets very busy on weekends, but line moves. I've yet to wait more than 10 minutes. Like most brunch places, they don't take reservations. Been here for brunch twice, and it's alright. The place is closeby so the location is good as there is also a parking lot. The portion size is ok for the price and a lot of people in the area come here so it can be quite busy during the usual brunch times on the weekend. Worst Mother's Day Experience with the owner himself ! I showed up on Mother's day with my wife and 1 year old son in my arms at 8:20AM on purpose to avoid the long waiting times. I gave my name to the owner so he puts me on the list, I was early so the wait was not long and my name was the second one. About 5 minutes later he calls my name and asks me if we are all here, I answered yes my mom (72 yearld old) is in the parking walking inside as she has a cane and walks slowly. He then answers me and says in that case, wait and let me know when she's here. 1.5 minutes later on the dot, I go back up to him and tell him "Alright where good to go, where all here now!'' he answers me: ''I Gave your table to someone else, you will have to wait for the next one now''. I looked at him shocked and say: ''Are you serious'' and he answers me ''My name is not serious, I'm John the Owner''. Things start getting hot and I kindly ask him ok when how long will I have to wait now and after repeating the question twice, he then looks at me in a very rood way and says: 45 minutes ! This is absolutely unacceptable, especially for a customer like me who's there every Sunday of the week. I know how the system works and I was lying when I said she was in the parking lot, he thought I was and sais I hear these excuses everyday. This place is to avoid as the owner himself is very rood and the wait times are abnormal especially on Sunday. Not an allergy friendly restaurant and extremely poor hospitality. I called in advance to explain the numerous severe allergies of my child and asked if I could bring his own food but they informed me that I could not and that they could always find something for him to eat. After arriving and explaining the allergies to the waiter, I was told that they could not guarantee anything (even the fruit) and it would be safer not to order anything for my child. Very unprofessional way of handling allergies and I will definitely not be returning (the only reason I went and took my child in the first place was because we were a large group of people going for an occasion). read more
