I'm moving my 88-yr-old grandmother cross country and got an estimate from Petra Pro for $3435. Despite specifically asking the salesperson how to avoid the estimate raising on pickup (I had seen some negative reviews), our estimate was raised by almost $2500 as soon as the movers arrived for pickup. They said the new price would be worst-case scenario - "the highest it should be." Once the truck was packed, the cost was raised again to $7100, over DOUBLE our original estimate. The foreman agreed with us that the estimating process that the company uses is not accurate or reliable. Our salesperson vastly underestimated the cubic feet based on the items we listed. We felt trapped because the items were already loaded & we couldn't rearrange travel/moving schedules, so we had no other option but to sign the new contract. We were told that the delivery time would be up to 10 days. It has now been 2 weeks. Since then, we have called Petra everyday for a delivery date and to discuss the additional costs, and receive no response or are told that we'll receive a call back once they "check out the situation". We shouldn't be financially responsible for misleading estimates and sales tactics. Finally today we received a delivery date, but it will not be confirmed by the foreman until the day before. We still have not been able to get any answer about the costs that were incurred from management. This needs to be resolved by the delivery date on Thursday, but today came and went with a guarantee that we'd be called in a few hours and then radio silence. We are hoping for a resolution but based on our experience would not recommend this company to anyone. read more

When my wife and I originally set up our service with a broker that we had no idea was a broker, we were supposed to be working with a different company. At the last minute we were put together with PP movers, and from that point, I knew that I was in a very precarious and possibly dangerous situation regarding my things. My wife and I had been sure to label, Box, measure, rewrite our list of things and ensure that we calculated the square footage of our Things. When PP Movers got to my house, they act surprised because the broker never sent them the updated list of our things. We were never given the opportunity to go into the truck and see the square footage and how they were packing our things. They broke some of our things before they even made it to the truck. We were never given the opportunity to verify where our things were being stored. Before I get into the next part, I want to mention that my wife and I had to get rid of so many things after they left, including my walker that I used to be able to get around. Our move was in October, I still have no mobility aids as I just got approved for my wheelchair. Extremely disgusted that someone would take advantage of two people, one of them being disabled without any regard. Did I also mention that the mover that put the things in our truck, left the truck illegally parked across the front of our apartment complex for an unknown amount of hours ? I had to text him repeatedly just to get him to move the truck, and that made me feel extremely unsafe about where my stuff was going. Especially because I said once it was on the truck, it couldn't be taken off. We eventually spoke with the management team after working with the broker and the movers directly and were able to get $800 knocked off of our moving price. That should tell you that this was largely a scam because no one is taking that big of a loss. I will give a big kudos to the broker for at least working with me consistently to get our issue rectified between us, but when it came to the delivery of my things boxes were crushed, things smelled awfully like smoke and mold , and my stand-sit desk that I use because I am physically disabled, is no longer functional. I have a machine that I use to be able to infuse my medication in a tincture for my disability, swallowing nerves some times can't take pills, and I can no longer use that (worth over $250). I am in physical pain every single day, because of the actions of this company. My stand sit desk was taken apart, and I never told them to do that. And they broke it and now refuse to take any type of responsibility stating that I never signed an insurance agreement which was never offered to me. I was told repeatedly by the movers that if there was any issues within 60 days I needed to call and they would take care of that. I am just now being offered by the "Insurance company" (Jasmin quit your job girl) Less than $200 when one of the items was over $200 in value. The gaslighting, the disregard, the recordings that I have between me and the insurance company are extremely telling of the ridiculousness that me and my wife have had to deal with. Lots of hidden fees. Very coercive. I asked to have someone look at my things to make sure they estimate they gave me was correct (as I had heard they surprise you on the day of moving), and even with that I was charged more. They added a $200 per floor elevator fee (meaning $800 extra if you are on the 4th floor). I had asked about any other fees beforehand and they assured me there weren't. Then they left some of the things that were agreed in the estimate. The men who came to pack my things and move them are very professional and respectful and my things arrived safely. It's the hidden fees and how they pretend not to know anything about it beforehand that is the problem. Everyone on here is telling the truth we went from a $3,000 quote to $8,100 and our stuff was on their truck and we still had to get a uhaul and load it ourselves as they did not bring a large truck only a 26 foot. I told them we had three households in one to move. They even charged us $1,500 extra for a same day move which was separate from our quote which did not say 1 word about a same day move fee. I tried very hard to find a lawyer to take this case as we were left stranded with only half a house moved. Breach of contract in my opinion as they did not move my house or partial. A broker connected me with Petra Pro movers to complete a move from Maryland to Florida. These were the most unprofessional movers I have ever dealt with. The packers did not label anything and I was never provided with an accurate bill of lading or inventory. They left pizza boxes and other garbage in my house and generally made a huge mess. Upon delivery, the unpacking crew pretty much just threw everything in random places. They left their truck in front of neighbors driveways. In summary, I'd never use them again and advise anyone else to stay away. read more

do not ever use these people!!! they are a complete scam from underbidding the estimate, not arriving as scheduled, using subcontractors that are imbeciles, losing boxes and packages they wrapped. and when you file a claim, they pay pennies on lost and damaged property and they determine the cost. lots of hidden and mis represented fees. if you file a claim, they wait until after the 60 days of coverage to respond. at that point, too late to file a complaint. everyone you speak to lies to you and if you leave messages as they rarely answer the phone, they never call back. total scam!!! and don't use angie! they don't vet their vendors!! and the vendors pay to be on their listings! read more

"My husband contracted with Safe Ship for our move from CA to KS. First we were given a quote of a little over 4k. When their subcontractor, PetraPro, arrived on move day the estimate rapidly went up to over 15k. Since we were in a rush, I went to the bank and got money order for over 13k. The foreman was very unprofessional, called his boss Frank an idiot and assured us we will get expedited delivery since we paid for it. We were told the truck will be in KS by Saturday. We agreed to pay the full amount upon pickup because we were not sure we could be in KS in time to accept delivery. We made it into KS on Saturday evening. During this time we were not given any information on the whereabouts of our belongings. When we reached out to the moving companies, we were told that their truck broke down in the middle of a desert and they had to switch the trucks and we would get our delivery in a couple of days. We paid for 1-6 days delivery, the actual delivery occured on day 7, so they were already in violation of their contract. When items arrived, all the boxes were severely damaged. We were also charged for 70 boxes. We only received 40 back. After lengthy back and forth they told us they will reimburse us for our inconvenience and we can also file claims for anything else per multiple phone conversations with Leslie from Safe Ship. During this time my husband received calls from Frank, as well as harrasing calls from Ahmed and Ray. We accepted the initial settlement and filed our claim only to find out 3 weeks later that PetraPro told their claims company to close our claim because they already paid it. This was not part of our agreement with Leslie. They lied to us on every turn." read more
