A service station is tough to review, since we often take them for granted. We show up. We gas…read moreup. We`re gone again. So its hard to rank one over the other. However, there are a few basic points that make me happy that this particular Victoria Esso exists: 1. Location, location, location! I live in suburbia in the SE, so it is very handy to have a gas station at close and easy access on the way home. 2. It has a drive through car wash. 3. It has 3 access/exit points, so the parking lot is rarely a gong show with people trying to come and go. 4. It has a convenience store, which at times comes in handy. All and all, few complaints here with the location and services. My only concern is that there are, at times, homeless people that cause a minor disturbance. Not often, but it has happened on more than one occassion. In my opinion, this happens pretty much anywhere downtown, but it is a consideration with this location over the burbs. No fault of the business, but its definately a part of doing any business in downtown locations.

Not just a gas station, but a Co-Op one complete with kick-ass Liquor Store. Oh, and while we're at it, since the space is so large, let's make it HUGE! Welcome to the Calgary Co-Op Kingsland Gas Bar and Liquor Store. Complete with rows upon rows of energy offering goodness to help my motorized Black Beetle of Doom terrorize the roads of Calgary, it's basically a pretty decent gas station and convenience store x 4. It has one of those all things to all people feel, with groceries, magazines and tons of snacks galore, but also with booze readily close by with a pretty decent selection of beer, wine and liquors. For example, where else in Calgary could I have found Bacon Maple Beer (the beer that smells like maple syrup, has hints of bacon, and the aftertaste of the ashes of a burned down maple tree dumped inside). Unlike most convenience stores, it's closed after 10pm, so after that, you have to wait until the AM for your Van Houtte coffee fix, still, I like to get my loto tickets here since every little purchase I make goes towards my Year-End Co-Op dividend (available to members depending on what you spend for the lifetime extravagant fee of $1) and the discount coupons too when I fill up (2.5 cents per litre of gas given back as a discount coupon towards groceries at a Co-Op supermarket). Oh, almost forgot, they have one of those mechanized super touchless car washes in 3 flavours, regular, Super and Supreme, each level adding to the level of cleanliness (?!? a clean car is still a clean car... after all). The touchless playing field is now pretty level, so how about some new innovation? It's here. This Kingsland facility contains a touchless carwash different from most, in that it is "self-propelled" (similar to Bubbles), but the owner remains in the car. What this means is that the driver enters the moving queue themselves, and immediately begins the wash procedure. This is occurring while, down the track, other cars are being rinsed and dried. In other words, you don't need to wait for the complete wash cycle before your car enters. Multiple cars are in process simultaneously, and this saves everyone time! I love the idea, however, this also means that drivers need to be able to: A) Have enough skill to position a front tire between the rails above the moving track. B) Follow directions. These two points can lead to some unexpected and unintentional comedy! I witnessed one driver moving back and forth repeatedly trying to get a wheel BETWEEN the rails, and then, trying to figure out why the car was not moving once there. This is the "following directions" part. As the sign says, you must be in neutral, and GET YOUR FOOT OFF THE BRAKES! Funny how a car just sits there with all 4 wheels locked up. Otherwise, this Kingsland Co-op facility is great. There is no Co-Op grocery store--it is convenience only. But for a "gas station," it's everything you need. There are a significant number of gas pumps out front, which means no waiting. Also, and most significant in my "gas station choices," the pump handles lock in the open position!! I ** REFUSE ** to gas up at any station where I need to physically hold the pump for all 120 litres in the wind/rain/sub zero temps. Sorry other guys, if you bowed to your lawyers and removed the locks, I fill elsewhere. The convenience store is large, clean and new. And attached, a Co-Op liquor store. What you'd expect out of both in a brand new location. Truly, this place lets you knock off a number of "to-do's" in one stop.

So if you want to fill your prescription after work, this will not work. I came here looking for masks to bring back home because my mom requested. Unfortunately, they had none. The staff was very informative and told me to go try my luck at their competitor which is a few blocks down. Their service is definitely better than their competitor. They do have sales here and there. The store is basic but it is what you would expect to see at a pharmacy.

It does not have the selection of pharmacy items like the big pharmacy's, such as Shoppers or Super Drug Market, but for a small store, I have never walked out empty handed, if I entered the store to solve any type of "pharmacy related problem", like the ones listed above. What I think is kinda cool about this little place is that they have a number of inexpensive gifts as well, such as $10 - $20 water fountains, and even some logo'ed hockey swag as two random examples. there are a few shelves of random, varied gifts. At Christmas, I bought my room mate a $4.99 sea monkey aquarium as a stocking stuffer. Let me just clarify that I am not cheap -- it WAS a stocking stuffer, and one that made her squeal with joy! Bad news folks... haven't seen sea monkeys in there for awhile for those of you in the market. however, again, a random example of what I saw when I was picking up my Diet Orange Crush. If you're in the neighborhood, check it out. It has a little bit of everything.

AVOID THIS SHOP AT ALL COSTS unless you want misdiagnosis of vehicle problems, verbal abuse and…read morephysical threats by the owner Mik, and lies about reimbursing the "audio diagnostic test" that he charged $150 for, only for me to take my vehicle to a transmission shop, and they checked the entire transmission, no codes whatsoever, and diagnosed the ACTUAL issue which was a tire arm on both sides needing replacement. Mik then agreed to reimburse the $150 diagnostic charge and do a wheel alignment (which I was actually willing to pay for, with him reimbursing the diagnostic test that completely misdiagnosed my issue. But once alignment was complete, he just wanted payment, and refused to issue the refund. When I said that was not what we agreed to prior to you doing the alignment, he said, I don't give a fu*k. Get the fuck out of my shop and I am going to put a lien on your car. Refusing to return my car key. So I suggested paying what he wanted, and coming back tomorrow to discuss the reimbursement. He continued to refuse to accept my payment, and kept yelling with other customers in the shop, get the fuck out of my shop. I'm not returning your key. Leave. I said I am not leaving without my car, just put the charge through and we can discuss the reimbursement tomorrow. He refused and threatened to physically drag me out of the shop if I didn't leave. I called the police as he was unlawfully refusing to return my key as I was standing waiting and willing to pay the bill (without the reimbursement), and he literally made me wait (after the shop closed) for 40 minutes before finally agreeing to accept payment, and follows that up with threats to "have me arrested" if I returned tomorrow for my promised reimbursement. The cops suggested reporting him to the BBB, share my experience online on various review forums... and funny enough, after scrolling other reviews on here, it seems I not the only victim to this arrogant, aggressive and threatening man who thinks a good way to run his business is through lies, intimidation and very poor mechanical service. I strongly encourage anyone thinking about using this shop to go elsewhere. Oh, and I have a voicemail from his employer stating they look forward to issuing me a reimbursement for the work that they misdiagnosed. Hats off to the worst customer experience I have ever had in my life.

The new year brings in a postponed Alberta tax to the gas. Everywhere else the gas was 1.259 per litre. Costco today's gas was 1.079 per litre the best price in town!!
