I'm not referring to weather. It was more seeing a 7-Eleven store fairly regularly in Winnipeg, in the Slurpee capital of Canada, to losing the only one in Markham. My closest 7-Eleven store is in Pickering. It's not exactly close. Last night, I was driving home after having dinner. Rutherford Road has a couple of 7-Eleven stores that are fairly close to each other. There's one west of highway 400. The other one is this one just east of Keele Street. I tend to visit the one by highway 400 often. It's because it's the first store that I see heading home. Yesterday, I decided to check out this store. I'm glad that I did. This store has a gas station. I didn't need to fuel my car. The station looked clean. I backed my car into a parking spot near the store. I then went inside. This store has 7-Eleven plushies on keychains. They were adorable. I needed to get some drinks. I ended up getting a couple of Fuze iced teas. I saw mango and pineapple. This flavour was new to me. All 7-Eleven locations in Canada are supposed to have Japanese-style egg sandwiches. I saw signs saying that it had arrived in Canada. This store looked like it had run out of these sandwiches. There were various wraps and submarine sandwiches. They looked yummy. It was cool seeing iced matcha lattes and more. It's convenient to grab what you want and go. Apparently, there are breakfast sandwiches every day. I'd like to try one. As a fruit lover, I was pleased to see oranges, bananas, and apples. It was cool seeing lemons, too. This store has two Slurpee machines. I was tempted to get one. I passed, as I was about to purchase two bottles of Fuze. The hot foods looked amazing. I was tempted to get a hot dog. What caught my attention was seeing what looked like sausage rolls in front of the potato wedge sign. I helped myself to a warm beef sausage roll. This place didn't have tongs. I grabbed one with my hand and placed it in a paper bag. I got a helpful, nice woman at the checkout. She scanned my 7Rewards barcode and then my items. I paid with a credit card. Done! She wished me a great day. I reciprocated and left with my goodies. I'm currently drinking my Fuze mango and pineapple iced tea. It's pretty good. It's a nice change from the other flavours that I get. The beef sausage roll was decent. It was long and had a lot of beef sausage filling. The exterior had some flakiness to it, but it wasn't super flaky that my car was a mess. It was the best snack as I drove home. I'd get it again. I'm glad that I stopped by. I hope to do it again whenever I'm driving along Rutherford again. (108)

I rarely go into the store itself, especially with COVID in existence. But I would recommend it to save money on fuel. It occurred to me that I had never visited the Esso station. Circle K and Tim Hortons? Yes. There were a few gas pumps that were available when I got here on a Saturday evening at around 7:30 pm. Gas was at 115.2 when I got here. Yay! I had just driven by the Shell station that had gas at 116.1. I was happy. I had a empty Starbucks cup that I needed to throw out. There was a garbage receptacle next to the gas pump, which was handy. At the gas pump's screen, I entered my phone number that was associated with my PC Optimum card. I tapped my credit card. I then selected the type of fuel and I started the handsfree fuelling process. Fuelling handsfree is awesome, especially when it's cold outside. I love it. When my car's gas tank was full, I put everything away and got my receipt. Done! I locked my car and headed inside Circle K to redeem my coupons. This gas station does have a car wash. One car was using it when I left to head home. It was a perfect evening to grab drinks and fuel my car. I'd fuel here again. (499)

However the Petro Canada is a much better stop in most respects (lighting, service, store & washrooms). The bathroom is bigger, cleaner and better ventilated than those of many restaurants & coffee shops in the are never mind other gas stations. Also I have never once encountered a grumpy, unprofessional or shiftless attendant at this location which can't be said for many gas stations. There are other stations in the Richmond Hill area which compete with price on & off - the corners of Bayview/MajorMac and Bayview/16th have been "hot" in recent weeks, the Shell at Leslie/16th used to be the cheapest but it's been inconsistent ever since that big overnight 10 cent jump earlier in the year. However it is only at these Yonge & Weldrick pumps that you can always count on the markdown. Why not 5 stars? Like most stations the last 10 years, the Air Pump is not maintained. And just last week during the -11c night the windshield cleaning stations froze solid because they failed to replace the diluted mix with 100% winter fluid. I consider most gas stations worthy of only 2 stars, NONE of them meet my expectations for an industry with a license to print money. But this is place has the fewest peeves and combined with saving $3-$4 per tank on Top Tier gas, it's definitely one of the best.

They have 4 grades of gas and also diesel. We came to this gas station because it was 5 to 7 cents cheaper than most gas stations in a 15 km radius. Actually there is an Esso a major block south that has the same price but that was out of our way. Tip: I use the "GasBuddy" app to find cheaper gas. The station was bright and clean. It has windshield squeegee using water (wasn't soapy water). There is a touchless car wash and it must be popular because there was a lineup of 8 cars at 8:00 pm on a Sun. This location has a car wash. I typically don't use it, as the rollers produce swirl marks that are noticeable, especially on dark-coloured cars. I got $1.044/L when it was $1.104 at my other go-to stations and $1.159 everywhere in the 416. Since Thursday's 4c across the board price drop, they have maintained a -10c difference. Not sure how long this will last but if your business, leisure or Yelpwork will be taking you past the Bayview & 16th area I recommend trying to time your fill up to take advantage of the price difference and encourage the franchise operator to continue competing on price. (will post an update if I notice them fall back in line with the going rates.) Note that there is no proper access from the Bayview northbound lanes and access from westbound 16th requires a left very close to the intersection or a U turn to approach from the east, so those who are uncomfortable with abrupt & assertive turns may want to plan going past it and coming back around to approach form the east or the north.
