We had our first puppy checkup here on Wednesday, and it went completely smoothly. They came out to the car to pick up the puppy, brought her in, and then came out after less than ten minutes to talk to us. And the doctor was willing to answer all of our many questions as new puppy owners. There was no sense that she was in a hurry, as has happened with other vets in the past. Even though Dr. Frye is gone (and will be dearly missed), it still feels like such a safe and kind environment for me to bring my aging dog. My pup Seamus and I love these people! The beautiful older woman who is always at the front desk has helped me more than she will ever know coming to terms with end-of-life care for my dog. This review is long overdue. But I wanted to take a moment to say how grateful we are for Dr. Glenn and Pets & Pals and they way they took care of our cat, Hunter, and our dog, Zoe. Especially, Zoe as she grew older. Last January, at 15 years old, she had become nearly completely lame and was having difficulty eating and keeping food down and could no longer control her bowels. After lots of discussion and observation and watching our sweet girl's quality life diminish, we made "that" difficult decision. We called Pets & Pals and Dr. Glenn was available for Zoe. Cathy Frye, DVM is my very first choice for my doggos! She is kind, thorough, stays current in vet medicine and very fair with cost. I also greatly appreciate her conservative approach with excellent detailed instruction on any abnormalities or risks. Our hearts were recently broken. We lost our beloved French bulldog, Fang. We rushed him to a 24 hr neuro vet in Longmont. And with deep sadness his back injury was too severe. I received a beautiful handwritten and personalized sympathy card from Dr. Frye and her staff. It means so much to me that my fury members are loved by their doctor and she completely gets the pain of losing them! Thank you Dr. Frye! I would never take my pets anywhere else! They have been my Vet for over 25 years! They are compassionate and caring beyond belief! I took my cat to them after she got a hold of some thread. It acted like a saw on her digestive tract. (NEVER give yarn or thread to your cat!) They did emergency surgery, but she only lived for two days. I was devastated, and they were so kind and were just as sad as I was. They charged me for supplies only and also sent me a condolences card. Then on the one year anniversary of her death, they sent another, just to check in. Amazing! They are all about the animals, unlike so many places who are all about the money. It's not going to cost you $200 just to walk in the door. Actually, it's usually less than $50. They have even allowed me to purchase vaccinations and then administer them later at home, when we were tight on cash. I cannot recommend them more highly! read more

I stopped in yesterday 8/10/22 to ask about their services and before I could get out my question-the person at the desk told me they were not taking any more patients and goodbye! Our friend and relator had recommended them. He said they were wonderful. We have lived in the area over 40 years and now our favorite vet has left last year; we are looking for another place to bring our dog. My family is new to the area, and decided to try this vet based on all the great reviews. It was perfect for us! Everyone was friendly, they took great care of my animal, and the prices are very reasonable. Unbelieveable. They took us in-full-crisis, right away as new clients, within just a few minutes of my call and knowing that it was going to be difficult. They treated us like close family and were completely invested in us as human and canine together and individually. Provided us with all the care and support we could have ever asked for (or needed) and the bill was a fraction of what I was prepared for. There are few, certainly less than a handful of experiences in my life that compare to how we were treated here... you cannot find a better option for small animal veterinary services in the whole of the Denver area. I just picked up my dog this afternoon from her dental cleaning. The staff were great and Dr. Finnegan called me with an update and reassured me several times that everything went well. She did chose to "air on the side of caution" when it was discovered my Princess has an extra tooth and I am VERY grateful she did. The office staff was very nice and professional. They were in good humor about the Princess's singing and her ability to get everyone else to join her. Although I am sure it was annoying, they were laughing about it. The care and love that the vet shows when I bring my pets in is unsurpassed! Their facilities aren't fancy, but their pricing is too good to care. If you are looking for a pristine, posh, vet who will try to up-sell you additional tests and treatments you don't need just to make you feel like you're taking better care of your pets, then this isn't the place for you. This is a country-like office, with an AMAZING vet who actually CARES for your pets, and tells you what they need to maintain good health. The first time I brought my dog here I was told that he had slab fractures, which no other vet ever informed me of. I was told that they may cause problems down the road, and to keep my eye on it, but that until then there wasn't need for surgery. It was over a year later when his jaw begin to swell that I took him in for surgery. Their prices were great, and he came out healthy with no complications. Vets in the past have had no patience with my dog who can be scared and skiddish in certain situations. She took the time to put him at ease, and each visit is a smooth one. read more

My cat is 9 years old and has never has any health issues, this weekend she buried an analysis gland and I was broke, and didn't know what I was going to do. Two friends of mine recommended Pets and Pals. I am not disappointed at all with the service I received today , Cathy was our doctor and was very friendly and quick to solve my problem. Dianne was at the front desk and was very helpful with answering all my questions and provided me with small talk while I waited for my ride to pick me up. The price was great! I got out the door for $80 even which is better than I expected, my cat got a shot of antibiotics that will last her 12 days. I will be returning for future vet visits. read more

Wow this place is great! The love and care they give to my pets is amazing. They are honest and I totally trust what they say. The decor of the place is not the best. But that does not reflect the care your animal gets. If you are expecting to sit in nice furniture and have someone serve you fancy water, this is not the place for you. One thing I especially appreciate is that they help me make choices about when to make which decisions for my pets. For example, does my dog really need her teeth cleaned now (as our precious vet said), or can I wait 6 months? read more

It is among the least expensive clinics, but it is definitely not the best clinic or "hospital." I chose Pets n Pals due to their 5-star ratings and feel obligated to share my experience. I called them Sat. a.m & told them my dog collapsed to the floor and seemed disoriented when trying to climb on the couch. Receptionist told me I could come in later that day. She SHOULD have told me to take her to an ER or transferred me to a tech for more info because my #1 was diagnosed with a spleen mass hemorrhage and respiratory failure/circulatory collapse within an hour of arrival and euthanasia was the result at the encouragement by Dr. Frey. She didn't have good notes b/c she thought I hadn't done blood work there, but we had. The owner, Duhaan, later told me she agreed the rec. should have told me to seek ER, but they "get burned" by that suggestion at times when it's a false alarm. Mixed messages on an apology from the owner. Bottom Line: This clinic is more like a rural clinic- NO website, NO email messages, fb page not managed, hand written notes... You're much better off going up to Nederland if you are short on $. Finally, If you get the choice between in-house blood work or Idexx...take the Idexx option for full results unless you just can't afford it. Dr Frye is not an expert. I wish I had gone elsewhere for my VIP companion. I went back to meet w/ Dr. Frye and asked if my Berner had Histiocytic Sarcoma, a common condition in Berners, and she didn't know what it was! Unforgivable and incompetent. She had to get her book to look it up. read more

We love this place because the care is excellent and the costs are really reasonable. "No Frills" is certainly accurate. The office and exam rooms are a bit dowdy looking, but friendly - just like my dogs and me. The staff really spend a lot of time explaining things, and I love the focus on saving the customer money while still providing well-informed, professional, thoughtful care. I switched to Pets & Pals because our original vet, though very good, seemed to be constantly looking for reasons to charge us for things that just didn't seem necessary, like supplements that have no good scientific evidence to support their use. I love my dogs. They get great walks, play time, toys, and good quality food. They sleep on the bed, and I tolerate them licking my face with full knowledge of the other things they lick. They are up to date on all their shots. Still, they are *dogs*. Were there a Donner-Party-Type situation, we'd have to feed the dogs to the kids. Then, our kids would eat us. Not that anyone at Pets & Pals would advocate this. It's just sort of the natural order of things in our family, and why we won't pay for dog acupuncture, or canine psychotherapy, or jewel-studded collars. Pets & Pals is a good fit for our philosophy of dog care. read more

I took my cat to this vet after a really unpleasant experience at another local clinic (my gentle, never aggressive cat was scared and hissed when getting a vaccine, and they responded by putting a muzzle on her). First visit with Dr. Cathy, she suggested we take the top off the carrier and just conducted the examination with the cat sitting on her own little towel in her safe spot. Lots of petting and kind words--my cat never hissed once! Dr. Cathy recommended a dental procedure, which came off beautifully. They were communicative, compassionate (with my cat AND with me), thorough, and reasonably priced. I took my cat here after reading the reviews that said, basically, the clinic is a bit rustic, but the care is top-notch. I heartily agree and hope to never take my pets anywhere else. read more

Dr. Glenn's care and good judgement is amazing. She began caring for my dog, Preston, when she was at Animal House after I first moved here. A friend recommended her and was spot on with her care for my dog. The care that we have received has always been about my dog and not about selling product or running up a big bill with unnecessary costs. This trust adds to her credibility, so when she gives me an opinion or suggests a procedure I don't question her. Pets and Pals isn't some sort of spa clinic and I agree with Cori - "they don't just make you feel like you're taking better care of your pet". You get the real deal and it's all about your pet's well being. I've had lots of experience with Vets - my family has been in the standardbred racing business for more than 50 years and my Mother raised Boston Terriers (before they were popular). I would give them 10 stars if I could. My dog had a mass on the back of his neck. They were very straight forward about the removal. They also did a full dental on him while they removed it.
