Was visiting from out of town and needed a few things for my new kitten. April was extremely knowledgeable and helped me find everything I needed. Not living in the area and having a brand new kitten made me a bit anxious and after speaking with her it eased my nerves and made my trip better. Management at this store should be ashamed!!!! Adoption area was filthy, the smell of ammonia was overwhelming and due to the amount of customers with no mask I'll assume this just didn't bother anyone else. As I walked around I heard this poor kitten crying and walked around to find the area she was in disgusting. Cages full of urine with no enrichment of any kind for playful kittens. Whatever rescue is responsible for these poor animals needs to come and get them and this store should be closed !!! It's a public health hazard to customers and animals. read more

First of all, my doggies are my world. So I take my babies to get cut, as many dogs as I've owned, I've always loved the services received at PetsMart until yesterday. Groomer by the name of Whitney cut my dogs (yes she rescheduled my appointment after being moments late). Then, o asked if they would call me when done, never got a call. Went to get my dogs and they looked like they had been pecked by a birds and now the groomers had gone home by 5:15, even though sign said 6pm. I expressed my unhappiness with how they looked and was asked to call back today, which I did. Ms. Whitney immediately reminded me that calls to clients are by courtesy only and are not mamdated.. Then, told me I'd I didn't like their cuts she can add her name to their cards to never groom them again (yeah, that is perfect)... However, I asked what can they do to rectify as whom did the cut was not as important as to how they looked. She quickly told me not to be rude and without further notice transferred me to the Manager Allen. Thank God for excellent management follow up. Mr. Allen was extremely pleasant, heard my concerns of customer service and immediately took action. Watch out for Ms. mean Whitney, with this attitude and service, who knows how she is really treating our pets while in her care! read more

Not many people can say they have been harassed in their local Pet Smart but I can. Would not recommend visiting this store if you own a pure bred dog and/or do not enjoy public humiliation. Do not be fooled by the frail elderly lady who asks you about your pups. During what I thought was harmless small talk, I spoke proudly of my new pure bred puppy. Immediately I was told I am the reason 47,000 dogs in the state of Louisiana die yearly. Pretty heavy stuff for what I thought was a nice stroll through the store. She didn't stop there. She threw another punch by telling me my puppy would die tomorrow. Without giving a response I respectfully chose to walk away from the conversation while she continued to yell at me from across several Pet Smart aisles. I am not sure her association with Pet Smart but I will not be returning in fear I will have another encounter with this pure bred hater. On a positive note, before this chaos ensued, the other Pet Smart employees were kind and eager to help. read more

I take my dog here maybe twice a month to get him groomed. We adopted him from a shelter and he had issues trusting people when we first brought him in, but Kedra was so patient and sweet with him. He loves going to the groomers now because he knows he gets to see her. It warms my heart seeing him excited the way he gets when I tell him he's going to see his friend. PetSmart Turkey Creek is one of the worst place that I have encountered. The people are rude and I am concerned how much they care about animals. My dog hesitates about going in the door everytime it is groomed. If we listen to our animals the will let you know if something is not right. With that said, I am going to find another place that cares and treats animals as they should be ( like angels). We have to be their voice!!!! read more

I was VERY disappointed with Petsmart because they REFUSED to groom my beautiful Pomeranian because he did not have his shots up-to-date. The lady in charge of the grooming department was actually rude and told me my dog was too unkept to be groomed by Petsmart!!! REALLY PETSMART???? Are you grooming celebrities or DOGS????? This is a smaller Petsmart that what I'm use to, but it doesn't seem to impact their selection too much. They had my pooches favorite treats, a good selection of cat litter, and lots of toys of all shapes and sizes and lots of toys on sale. You can bring your pet into the store, but please make sure they have their shots. Nobody wants your diseased dog around them or their pets! Oh, and if you can't be bothered to get your pets their shots? You are a horrible owner for your pet and don't deserve it. read more

I went into the grooming salon to make an appointment for my yorkie. While I was in the salon I observed a female groomer actually jerking a dog and hollering at it, saying "keep still!" Then a minute or two later the dog yelped like she hurt it. There's no reason why a dog would yelp unless it was being hurt. I immediately told the girl who was making the appointment nevermind and I left the salon and never returned. At the time I was really upset because all I could think is 'what if that was my fur baby!' I could kick myself for not reporting her to management! Who knows how many dogs she has hollered at, jerked on, or just being bring downright mean to! I did write a review on their website but have not been contacted by anyone. It's truly disappointing to see a groomer mishandling somebody's pet and it angers me that she was so aggressive with that dog. If I had experienced that girl or any other groomer hurting my fur baby, I'm not really sure what I would do! My first instinct would be to come around the counter and mishandle the groomer. Nitwits! I will never ever take my pets to Pet Smart's grooming salon! Giving one star is obviously too generous to this company. read more

Devin and Miranda at the Petsmart in Alexandria, Louisiana did a phenomenal job on my two precious Shiffons, Daisy May and Bebe. They talked lovingly to the dogs throughout the entire process as if they belonged to them. They took their time and made them look absolutely precious! I couldn't have been happier with their service and the treatment that those two groomers gave my dogs. I highly recommend them and the express haircut if you have elderly dogs that you love more than life itself. read more

wouldn't even rate this one star but yanno how yelp works. have been going here for years and even got my dog trained here, but stopped going due to learning about how awful pet stores are. rudest workers in here. the store is nasty and there were so many dead fish. was looking for a good thick dog bed. have been in twice recently and the workers seem to be zombies or are either too far up your butt. seriously, had a lady who seemed to be following us around constantly. like geez get a grip lady it's not a jewelry store you don't need to follow around two adult girls around a pet store. so please, if you have to go to a pet store at least go to petco. read more

While the Petsmart staff is friendly and helpful, I find the dog training to be geared toward companion dogs. If your dog is a working dog, this may not be for you. Instead of progressing my dog is going backwards with treat and clicker training. Not for me or my dog. read more

We love Petsmart of Alexandria. I especially like that they support local Humane Societies and Rescue organizations by donating, fund raising, and allowing pet adoption events. They offer a wide selection of products for your pets, speciality foods, and the staff is very knowledgeble when it comes to pet care and training. The grooming salon is usually very busy, they usually can't take walk ins, so an appointment is a must and they have always done a great job with my pets. Make sure you bring your pets up to date shot records though, or they won't be able to groom your pet. (But that has always been the policy for any grooming salon I have ever went to, to ensure the groomer's safety in case of a bite.) read more

My daughter and I are very disappointed and disheartened. My daughter bought a female calico kitten from this Petsmart. She made a vet appt. the vet assistant found her full of worms, which is pretty normal, but she also had ringworm, which can also be somewhat normal. The vet gave her medicine to put on the ringworm and told her to keep her isolated. In the meantime she found more ringworm spots, huge ones. Took her back to the vet, she gave her shampoo to use, which my daughter has been faithfully using as with the medicine prior, plus more isolation. So today, to the vet for a check up, found she is still full of ringworm and "possibly" a weak immune system. She has to buy a different medication and more isolation. My daughter is out so much money and is heart broken, she tried to do the right thing in rescuing a cute loving kitty and now is at a loss and poor kitty. If this kitten was full of ringworm at the time of purchase, there must have been more animals infected. Where are they, poor unsuspecting animal lovers???? I realize there are always risks, but this is ridiculous. I think Petsmart should take kitten back and refund the money she paid to purchase her. read more
