DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AT PETSMART. I have had issues with them in the past, and why on earth I decided to give them a second chance, I have no idea. I paid for a full groom ( a little over $50) for my small Yorkie., which is supposed to include his nails being cut. I was in a hurry when I picked him up, so I didn't notice that they had not been done. A few days later when he came walking up to me on the tile floor, I noticed his nails were laying SIDEWAYS on the floor, because they were so long! I called Petsmart and explained the situation, and a very nice person on the other end of the phone said - no problem, just bring him back up and we will do them for you. I couldn't go the day I called, and went a few days later. When I walked in, the girl who had groomed him was there. I again explained the situation and what I was told... and she instantly copped an attitude with me, insisted she did them and became very defensive and rude. I said "Listen, I don't appreciate the attitude you are giving me. I just explained to you what was told to me". She told me she would not do them - she refused - and then turned and spoke on behave of the other young employee standing there and said she refused to do them as well! Alrighty then!! I explained I paid for a service, and I expect to get what I paid for. She proceeded to call her manager, all the while being completely rude to me. When he entered the room he took the exact same attitude with me before he fully understood the situation. He said I needed to bring my dog on the day I called, and that too much time had gone by (it's been a week since I called). He instantly took to her defense and was very dismissive of me. I had said to both of them "look at his toes, they speak for themselves " to which they said they didn't need to look at them... because they were done. I said listen, this isn't my first rodeo... I've been getting my dog groomed for 14 years. I think I know when his nails have not been cut. To which this 22 yr old something snapped at me and said "I think I know what I've been doing, I've been grooming for years". Bottom line - Petsmart needs better management, and a better screening process for employees. I've have owned many businesses, and if I EVER witnessed one of my employees speaking to a customer the way this employee was speaking to me... I would have fired them on the spot - no questions asked. I will never spend a dollar in that store again... and not only have I had dogs groomed there for several years, I would buy my dog supplies there as well. If you are looking for grooming.... there are several local groomers who would love your business and treat you much better. That's how you keep customers! read more

I have been taking my 2 Boxer boys here to have their nails grinded since I've had them. The girls there are always so nice and polite and treat us all well. We have never had a bad experience and I definitely recommend them when I can! read more

I recently adopted a small dog from the ANNA Shelter and took him to be groomed here because they gave me a coupon. After about five minutes they paged me and told me they could not groom my dog because he was too scared and they couldn't "put the clippers on him". It's seemed to me like they didn't even try or care, and on top of that they gave me a rude, condescending attitude. From now on I will never purchase anything at Petsmart ever. read more

We like Petsmart and we buy our cats Nutro food from them, but these are the stores in Columbus, Ohio. Knowing we wouldn't be back in Columbus till late one Sunday night we stopped here at this Petsmart and were very disappointed. We also stop at the adoption center and look at the cats up for adoption. This is a nice experience in Columbus, but the room stunk very bad indicating lack of good care. Maybe that isn't fair for a Sunday night, but I would never see this in Columbus. When we went to the register, only one light was on, but no cashiers to be found. We waited for a minute or two behind another lady until the cashier showed up. read more

I have used the service a number of times now. I can honestly say they do an ok job of grooming but they really have a nonchalant attitude to the point where I have to really wondered if they even like dogs.. I have had the same groomer ... terry a few times now and definitely wont go back. She keeps charging me a special handling fee because my guy doesn't like the dryer ... huh??!!! It's not bout the money but her ability to handle the dog. She's rude and unfriendly. If she treats me like his. I have to wonder how he treats my dog. On top of all that... she kept me waiting with a nervous dog because " she was taking a call out in parking lot " Seriously considering doing my own grooming. read more

We have been taking our yorkie to petsmart in erie,pa for 6 1/2 yrs and have been pleased up until today. As we made the 1hr 15min drive up there for her 1:30 appt.we did run into some unexpected road work which made us about 15 min.late. the groomer then tells me our appt was at 1:00. No i said when i made the appt originally she asked me if 1:00 was o.k. no i wouldnt make it there by then as i have an appt that i wont be done at until noon so she made it for 1:30 which i knew i could make til we ran into the traffic delays. I understand its a business but 15 min late they would not take her even when i told her how far our drive was. Poor customer service. She could have went above and beyond to accommodate.instead she tells us they have to go by appts. And if her supervisors are telling their employees that with no exceptions then shame on them and petsmart. I personally think she could have made it happen. I will definitely not return. Now i have to find another groomer soon. Sorry for the lengthy review. read more

Absolutely horrible situation! If I could do no stars I would and that's for Sam the grooming manager. First they told vet wrong info so after driving 58 minutes we had to come back few days later which was fine but only to have more issues and be told lies! Don't go if you love your pet spare yourself from this one specifically! read more

I am new to Erie. Today, I walked into Petsmart and saw this golden retriever barely walking. Only to find out that this poor dog fell off the grooming table. I will not be bringing my dogs here to be groomed. It was a very sad site to see. Unbelievable. I hope the owners files a complaint. read more

What a disappointment. I took my puppy there to get groomed and the groomer spent more time writing down what she didn't do than taking care of the dog. She couldn't clip his nails, she couldn't do his ears, it was ridiculous when I picked him up 45 minutes later. 45 minutes? How can you calmly clip nails, clean ears, bathe and dry any dog in that amount of time? I filled out their survey that they emailed me and for two weeks I try to get a hold of two different people that called me. Out to lunch(9 a.m. in the morning), not in today, never got back to me while I was on hold... Finally I caught up with groomer Pam. She went on with a series of excuses about how my dog should get better at the groomers. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? My dog has been to the groomers before maybe he was a little skittish with his nails because he is a puppy but having to put a cone on him to do his grooming it's just ridiculous. On and on Pam went about making excuses and I finally told her just stop wasting my time. My dog won't be back and I WILL NOT recommend to anyone I speak to grooming at PetSmart. read more

When I called to speak with the grooming shop of Petsmart Erie Pa, about grooming my schnauzer every question I asked was answered with an " what do you think I am stupid? teenager attitude" I had some specific requests for the cut and I wanted to be sure they were able to meet my needs before I drove the 50 min into Erie, My pup has potential for a good showing this summer and needed just a trim in preparation for a show cut in April. When I got there I showed the groomer the desired look of the head. Schnauzers are all about the head, beard and brow. I asked her twice and pointed out the brow which was already pretty much shaped into the look and long length needed. The beard needed no trimming, I even provided pictures so there wouldn't be any confusion about how the head should look. As well I asked for her to check that the shampoo did not have aloe in it because this breed can have some terrible reactions to it. Well as it turned out all their shampoos except the "Spa Special" which would cost me $ 7.00 a dime size drop to use. Had me by the shorts I'd say......so I agreed to the extra charge. When I picked the dog up it took all my composure not to lose my cool. The brow shelf was gone and the beard was cut to resemble a Bichon/ Scottie. It will take months to regrow it and may not be able to show confirmation this season.Lesson learned. Between the poor customer service skills and lack of knowledge of typical breed traits and grooming patterns (even when given pictures to follow ) this groomer gets 1 star, she did thank me. My dog won't be back. read more

My wife and I have been using Pet Smart in Erie Pa. for years to groom our Shih-Tsu Sweet Pea.....we have always purchased all of her grooming items and food from them as well....However, because our dog has very dry skin we prefer to use Black African Soap that is 100% all natural and safe for babies....In all fairness we have used the Pet Smart hypo-allergenic shampoo and it doesn't work on our dog...Moreover, the last two trips they have accomadated our request and used our soap. Unfortunately, today they refused our request to use the soap citing it didn't say it could be used on animals....We feel this was extremely petty especially when we always sign there disclaimer forms....So we left upset, and we won't be back...and we will tell our friends and neighbors... read more

I am critiquing the training program at PetSmart. I have taken my Labradoodle Cooper to the Basic and Intermediate training programs. I intend to follow-on with the Advanced program. My instructor, Niki, is outstanding and has a great, always positive attitude. This coupled with the comprehensive program has helped immeasurably in training ME on how to communicate with Cooper to get him to understand and respond to what I want him to do. The classes are fun and Cooper loved canoodling with the other dogs in the class. He loves the attention he gets during our at-home follow-up training, and this has helped us develop a healthy bond to last for the long haul. I feel that if I had not gotten this great Petsmart instruction, I would not have the positive relationship with Cooper, and he would not be well mannered and a pleasure to be around.
