"Sam" (Samantha) did a great grooming on our miniature Dachshund, Jack. I told her that he was good and very tolerant. I guess she had to see for herself. Sam initially told me that he'd be about an hour . . . try 20 MINUTES! I was just getting into perusing Hallmark (other side of shopping center) when she called that he was done already. (I answered the phone "is Jack okay?!!") The great surprise is that I got a $5 grooming coupon when I checked in on Yelp! Love it! I'll absolutely come back for Jack's grooming here. a month ago, so I did not forget, I walked into the store to book grooming for my 2 dogs at 11am. A month in advance!! Today, I go in at 11 and tell me one dog is at 11 the other at 3pm (when I will not be around hence the 11am appointment!). The groomers have always been nice and I tip accordingly. Apparently my schedule was change on Nov 17 I am sure to allow someone's friend to get a time slot. I am taking my business elsewhere to a place when I schedule an appointment my time slot is my time. The day before a holiday, booked a month physically in the store. Not acceptable! read more

My dog needed his nails cut. I looked on Google and found that petsmart charges on $10 for that service. So we went there to the Lawnside NJ store. When we were checking in i was asked if my dog was current on rabies shot. I had no idea. So they call my vet to find out and turns out his shot was expired. As a result of this they were not able to do my dog's nails which of course made me unhappy. I mean forgive me but I cannot make the association necessarily between having a rabies shot and being able to have my dog get his nails cut. But I guess I understand the safety factors involved. But they then told me that there is a company VIP PETCARE that comes to their store and offers rabies vaccines for less money than your doctor's visit. She went on to say that once my dog gets his rabies shot they will be able to cut his nails. So I asked when will these people be coming in again? And she tells me that they will be in on Thursday October 11th between 5 and 7 p.m. in fact there was a poster in the entry that described the service with the 5 to 7 pm written in. Even though it's 10 days away I choose to wait to have it done there. I called on Tuesday to verify the VIP PETCARE Event and time line. Yes, I was told. 5 to 7 pm. So today arrives and I arrange to free up my evening to take my dog to PetSmart to get his rabies shot and have his nails clipped. I am informed that the people from VIP who are doing the rabies shots have left the building they were only there from 2 to 4 p.m. At this point in time another couple coming with their three dogs and they want to have the same service performed and were told the same thing that the service providing the rabies shots has left for the day and will not be back for two weeks. This entire situation went miserably from there and spiraled into lines of excuses and attempts to plead ignorance and deny any culpability on the part of anyone at PetSmart. They wasted my time and energy as well as that of other customers. A lot of excuses and no attempt at solution. I went to my car from which I called the VIP PETCARE whose number was on the poster in the lobby advertising their service and they were very helpful in rectifying my immediate issue. VIP said if I wanted to bring my dog to the location at Pet Supplies Store they would administer his rabies shot. I did do. They were very professional and we're baffled as to how Petsmart could have made this error since they have a regular schedule of going there from 2 to 4 pm every other Thursday, and it has always been, and will continue to be, 2 to 4 pm. I thank them for their help, especially Rhiannon who took card of us at their location in Cherry Hill NJ Pet Supplies Store. While in Pet Supplies, that other family that I met in Persmart, with the 3 dogs, entered to get their dogs vaccinated. To top off this story, I then find out that PetSmart's policy is that even if the dog has his rabies shot he cannot be seen for any other services within 48 hours from the time he gets the injection. I learned this from the woman with the 3 dogs, who, ironically, WORKS AT THE PETSMART STORE! What that means is he even if my dog had been successful in getting his rabies shot at PetSmart I would not have still been able to get his nails cut for 48 hours anyway. Funny how nobody and I mean nobody despite several phone calls and multiple conversations with PetSmart anyone ever told me that. so heres an idea PetSmart. Get your customer service act together. Educate your employees so they will have intelligent answers when asked questions. At least at the Lawnside store. read more

I'm just going to say $81 to groom a yorkie that had a tiny piece of mat on her tiny arm took my breath away. I take very good care of my pup so she was clean even going to be groomed , I just wanted to treat her...she's not much work at all. Only 8months old. Don't get me wrong I spoil my yorkie she's my BFF but I am also not about throwing money away. So to get just a puppy trim is $20 or something like that...but she recommended two packages and of course I chose the one that would eliminate dry skin and stop itching(hemp package) also had her teeth brushed. I mean she barely had teeth!! My question is did they use the entire bottle if shampoo on my yorkie or tube of doggy toothpaste? I guess they charge for the use of electricity...I am not sure but ai find that price was way too much. What If I had a big poodle or Lab ...what would price be then! I mean how can I tip the groomer when I'm almost breaking 100 bucks to get my yorkie groomed. $81 is not too far from $100 because I would want to tip the groomer at least $15. I felt bad not tipping but I am a single dog mom trying to survive like every one else. That was too much money! We have been using PetSmart Lawnside Grooming services for some time. On Friday, March 4th, we had a 1:30 p.m. Grooming appointment with Nicole (she usually grooms our Standard Poodle, Bentley & always very nice & we tipped her well). We arrived at 1:15 & knew we were early but let the groomers know we were there. We were told that Nicole was on her break and to have a seat on the benches outside the Grooming Salon. At 1:30 p.m. I asked if Nicole was back from her break. I was told "no". At 1: 40 p.m. I asked again and was told "she's not back yet". At 1:48 p.m. I asked again and was told "she still wasn't back yet." My husband & I decided to leave because no one seemed to know when she would be back from her "break" (maybe she quit?). And they seemed to act confused. (Need some competent and trained help back there). Regardless, we won't be booking there again because if you cannot honor a scheduled appointment (someone even called & Confirmed the apptmt on Wednesday March 4th) you do not deserve the business. We primarily use PetSmart for dog grooming. The stylist Brandon is an absolutely amazing stylist. We've gone to many PetSmart through the SJ region and we have continued to come here for about the past 2 years. If you are looking for a great cut for your doggo, or just a great environment please come here! On the other hand, the store is always clean, and the associates are always helpful. We visited this PetSmart because one of our fish had died and the other two appeared to be dying and we weren't sure what was going on. We relayed the information to the staff and they were very helpful and knowledgeable about the subject. They could have easily allowed us to buy the expensive anti bacteria tank cleaners that we were looking at, but instead they recommended a more affordable and practical product. They were also realistic and honest about what was happening to our fish. Sure enough, we used the product when we got home and our fish are swimming around good as new. I am still confused as to what was wrong with our fish. But one thing I am sure of is that our fish would no longer be with us if it weren't for the knowledge, patience, and understanding of the staff at this PetSmart. read more

I'm sure most are not strangers to the fact that chain pet stores typically hosts of unethical practices. All the staff in this store however are very kind and mostly knowledgeable. Although I wouldn't take almost of their advice unless they have also personally owned the pet you are looking for. I've been misguided many times which was my own fault for not doing extensive research. However, I went to look at some reptiles. They had a spider ball python. If you're not familiar with snakes, the spider genetic mutation causes neurological damages and tragic health issues resulting in very poor quality of life in pythons. It's extremely unethical to breed let alone sell one. Very disappointing yet not surprising. read more

Pet Smart is telling their customers that Hills Science Diet cat food is changing their formula. Pet Smart is also claiming that Hills Science is now lowering the quality of their product to a "supermarket type quality cat food." Pet Smart is telling their customers to go with Purina Pro Plan. I contacted Hills Science and they say Pet Smart has decided to no longer carry their product line. Hills Science has told me that no formula change is taking place. read more

I went in for cat food and toys, which they had plenty of. This one star review is for what I saw when I went back by the kittens and cats up for adoption. I noticed two of the four cats there had cages that were covered in their own litter. Specifically, the beautiful black kitten named Potter was laying on a blanket that was buried in litter from his box. I have two cats of my own and I know that litter gets messy, but it has to be someone's job to make sure the cat cages are clean. It's bad enough the cats are living in a confined area, let alone a filthy confined area. Letting them live in this condition is unacceptable. read more

In a pinch I had to buy a collapsible crate so I went to Petsmart (buy all our dog's food, toys, etc there). We needed a crate so our dog could spend the night at my sister's house who was watching her. It was a little smaller than her rigid steel crate at home but figured it would be fine for the night. Not in the travel crate for an hour, she managed to simply nose through the mesh on the side and, terrified of being in a strange house, went #2 on my sisters floor. The poop was excusable but now the brand new crate was meaningless. This crate was made by a good brand, a brand I trust, but was $135. Looking after the fact at online reviews, consumers have had trouble with these crates leading to dog escapes in the past. So, suffice to say, I was very upset. The next day, Petsmart issued me a full no-questions-asked refund which I was very grateful for. Only 4 stars given because they should remove these crates from inventory due to this known flaw. Find a better product to sell. read more

Two days after we picked up our dog Max from the Petsmart hotel at the Lawnside, NJ location, he died. There was poop and pee all over him. His two back feet were swollen and he had bruises on all his paws and elbows. When we brought him there, we had informed the attendant that Max was of old age. He would get up, walk a little, poop and pee, then walk a little and he would sit. Then he would get up, walk a little, then sit again. He could stand and walk on his own. We have a huge backyard and Max would do each day. We even have stairs to go outside and back in which Max did. The next day after bringing Max there, the manager Tina gave us a call. The first thing she said was that this was not an emergency call. We explained to her how Max was. She accepted and said that Ok when they need to move him and he does not want to get up, they will put a towel under him to assist Max and make him get up. She knew Max from before because ever since Max was young, we would bring him there. She knew Max for years. We never heard from Petsmart again about Max. We had assumed that everything is fine with Max. When we went to pick up Max, the young attendant, who she said she was a manager too, was very rude. She said to me that Max is no longer welcomed there, and that we cannot bring Max there ever again. I was shocked to hear this. I don't think they took care of Max. They might have even beaten or kicked him because of his swollen legs. He was so weak. We provided food for Max which we purchased there. She said it was all gone. I don't think he ate well. If they had called and said that they didn't want him there, we would have picked him up. But they didn't call back and just let Max suffer. read more

Took my min dachshund here for puppy training- it was great we was getting socialized while learning new skills. The trainer Derek is great with all the dogs and with the owners as well. The staff at this Petsmart were all extremely friendly & personable. My local Petsmart (Springfield) didn't have space so I trekked from PA to Jersey not knowing what to expect. I am so pleased with the level of service and attention they paid to my senior dog. My dog was also groomed & was adorned with bows looking magnificent. I dropped off my pet on a Friday to pick him up on a Sunday. This was my first time using the pet hotel at this location. When I picked him up, we were still at the counter when he couldn't hold himself anymore and peed right on the floor. (A lot!) - This indicates to me that he was not let out to pee all day long as he never does this. I will never drop off my pet at this location anymore. To think that I even paid for two playtime sessions with my pet while I was away - not sure if that occurred either. I wouldn't recommend this location for pet sitting. read more

The groomers are not well trained and recently the Petsmart grooming in Berlin has caused the death of a 2 year old by cutting him which caused him to have surgery that led to his death. Today another incident happened by a groomer cutting the ears of a small dog that had matts and caused a hematoma. Again PLEASE do not bring your dog to any Petsmart and rather a certified groomer with a valid license. read more

Boarded two dogs during vacation. They didn't let us know at check in that they were experiencing confirmed cases of parainfluenza. They called to let us know one dog had symptoms after a few days there. We came home the next day. One is still not showing symptoms but with a two week contagion period it's a matter of time. My issue with the Pets hotel is that they failed to notify us this was an issue. Boarder beware! read more

I was shopping in this Petsmart and walked by the doggie daycare. The young lady watching the dogs was sitting with her hand resting on her chin and in her other hand she had a spray bottle. She looked miserable. The dogs were running around and one even came to the glass standing for several minutes as if to say please get me out of here. Felt pretty bad for them all.
