As someone who has never had betta fish before you would think folks who take care/sell them are knowledgeable about their care. Unfortunately after speaking with almost 5 different employees on how to take care of them you realize none of them are trained properly. Everyone there contradicts each other on how often to feed them, which plants are best, when to clean the tank, etc. My recommendation to the managers - give some basic training to all employees. It can be detrimental to the fish that we are trying to care for if we aren't properly and safely taking care of them. read more

Brought my dog Otis here for grooming and unfortunately, was unable to pay for the services inside the dog spa. So of course there's a long line and as soon as I'm ready to be called over to line 2 a lady cuts in front. I politely informed her that we were next and she went off on a racial tirade calling it "White Privilege" that I was next in the line. I won't be bringing my dog back here, both because the register attendants and manager doesn't know how to run a checkout line and they sat there while another patron loudly berated me with racial expletives. read more

I have been bringing my dog Willa to the Millburn PetSmart for years and have always had good experiences until today. I had a 9:15 a.m. grooming appointment with Odalys T. I arrived on time and was standing right in front of the store when I received an urgent call from my kids' day camp asking me to submit a time sensitive form. I stayed just outside the door to take care of it quickly on my phone, only steps from the entrance, and walked in by 9:27 a.m. When I got to the grooming counter, no one was there. I waited several minutes, then stepped outside to ask a manager if someone was available. He confirmed the groomer was inside and told me to wait a few more minutes. I continued waiting until 9:48 a.m. with no one checking in on me or offering any update. Finally, I knocked lightly on the grooming salon door to signal that I was still waiting and needed help. The groomer came out yelling, saying I was late and that they had already told me to wait, which was not true. When I calmly explained that I had been there the entire time, she became more aggressive, nearly cursing at me and stopping herself mid sentence from saying the F word. Then she snapped, saying "Since you are so impatient, take your dog back." I was shocked and in tears. I asked for a manager, who simply canceled my appointment and offered to reschedule. There was no apology and no accountability. I asked for a refund for the rest of my grooming services and was ignored. This was one of the most unprofessional and upsetting customer service experiences I have ever had. I have trusted this location with my pet for years, but after this treatment, I no longer feel comfortable returning. read more

A bigger pet shop beside the Trader Joe's, they have a lot of supplies and brand name goodies for your pets, plus sell things like birds, fish and hamsters. No dogs or cats, the adoption services are elsewhere, but they do have a reasonable selection of goods though still more expensive than a Chewy or Amazon, or even their Pet Supplies competitor down the way in town. They do have some random exotic chews and other supplies less commonly found at other shops, too. Grooming salon for pets upfront and you can reserve time with them. read more

Went to buy fish and your employee TIANA (yes, I'm naming her) started questioning us on the size of our tank. We told her the size and she explained the fish wouldn't flourish . I told her I understood and I still wanted them. She got nasty and said " whatever, if they die you won't get a refund" / what she doesn't know is I bought my husband a new tank and I wanted to buy the fish to surprise him. Her nasty attitude has no place at that PetSmart and this isn't the first time she has had this attitude. Like sis, relax - they are goldfish! read more

I've been here before to get my dogs nails clipped and her teeth brushed but this is my first experience for a full grooming. Check-in was pretty much painless. I filled out a quick form (since I had already been here before and provided my pet's documents along with filling out other paperwork). They told me they would call me once she was done. I must admit I was very nervous. I've heard horror stories about other Pet Smart locations and my fur baby is used to her regular in-town groomer whom I couldn't get an appointment with anytime soon. They called me to come pick her up once her grooming was complete. I received a text consecutively indicating Kelani (my fur baby) was ready and I could clink the link to pay on line. I tried for a few minutes to pay online but the link was broken so I went straight up to Pet Smart to pick up my baby - about 5 min from my house. When I got there, I entered the store but waited before entering the door into the grooming area because someone else was in there and they only allow one pet family at a time due to COVID. I waited about 10 minutes and once the customer left out, I entered the grooming area. The employee looked at me and asked "are you here for Kelani?" I said yes and she quickly handed me a bill to go pay at the register - a silly unnecessary 2-step process in picking up my dog that I believe could use some tweaking. I leave out of the grooming area to go pay the bill at the register - literally 3 steps from the grooming area. I pay the bill and once I walk 3 steps back over there, someone else is in there. So I have to wait another 15 minutes for them to finish up with the other customer. One of the other employees from the grooming area walks past me while I waited and I stopped her and said "Hey I paid the bill (handed her the receipt) can you please get my dog for me? But she just said "you HAVE to wait" which I thought was very rude. We have almost 200,000 words in the English language and you mean to tell me she couldn't think of something more polite or professional to say??? I finally got my baby and she certainly doesn't look professionally groomed. I could have done a better job. To make matters worse, she seems lethargic and depressed. I paid more for Pet Smarts grooming then I pay at my usual in-town Boutique groomer so yea, I'm pissed. Please, anyone whose considering using them for grooming services, please don't use them! I wanted to give zero starts but am forced to give one in order to post this. I have been going to this store sporadically for a couple decades. You can get the same for less $ at other places, so when I decide to go here it's strictly due to convenience of location. Today I popped in to buy some fish for my aquariums. I asked if the guy to scoop out a couple small angelfish for me. Rather than comply he asked what size my tank is. Keep in mind that the tanks in this store are each about 10 gallons. I told him (not that I felt it was any of his business) that I have a couple tanks, one which is 30 gallons and the other is 20 gallons. He tells me this fish that's barely bigger than a quarter, several of them currently in a 10-gallon tank in the store, have to be in a 50 gallon tank in my home. I'm not really in the mood to justify not owning a 50-gallon tank. The angelfish I already have are doing just fine. But this patron saint of aquatic lifeforms refuses to scoop a couple fish out for me. When my response is incredulous, he asks if I want to speak to his manager. Since it was his suggestion, and thinking that the manager might be a reasonable person who wants the store to make sales, I say sure. I tell her I'd like two angelfish, she asks the size of my tank, rinse and repeat. She won't sell me the fish because I didn't claim to have a tank that's at least 50 gallons. I consider arguing, but the absurdity of the situation lets me know I am not speaking to reasonable people and would only be wasting my breath. I don't have time for this. So I tell her to have a nice day and leave before my head explodes. My business in the future will be taken elsewhere. I have purchased aquarium fish hundreds of times in various stores. Never before had such an infuriating experience. If this is where you choose to get fish from, tell them you have a 1000 gallon tank. But don't be surprised if they come up with some other condescending, unreasonable reason for refusing to sell to you. read more

I'm giving the grooming here 0 stars. My cute little cockapoo went from a floof to looking like a street dog. There was absolutely no care for maintaining the design of my dogs fur around her face. Even worse, my dog is sad, lethargic, and just acting like something bad happened to her. I've taken her to other groomers and never had an issue with my dog acting strange afterwards. I will be seeking a full refund -- not only is it not worth $91 for the top dog full bath and cut, but now I'm extremely concerned for my dog's wellbeing and if she's not feeling better tomorrow then I will have to take her to the vet Do not take your dog here. read more

I don't get my dog groomed except to have her nails filed, and the groomers are fine. Of course, I stand there and watch.... but never had a problem. Good selection of toys and chews and bully sticks, including plenty of USA-made choices. Cashiers are usually very friendly to my pup. Parking lot is convenient, but people park/act like jerks, as drivers in Millburn tend to do. Lots of people park blocking the loading dock (closer than the handicap spots)--so annoying! read more

His sarcastic, rude and condescending tone is not a proper representation of the excellent service PetSmart has delivered in the past. I know I'm just one drop in the bucket but my brief interaction with Michael was enough to deter me from shopping here again. Sooo today I went to Pet Smart in Millburn NJ and it was my first time there. The cashier with the florescent yellow sneakers was sooo not cool . Horrible attitude. I was asking for help with my coupon... during your purchase you I enter in your phone number , the cashier is able to tell you how many reward points you have earned. She did not. I didn't know that at the time . It wasn't until I stepped out to put my items in the car and had better WiFi signal that I was able to load up my coupon . Upon returning to the store a gentleman helped me to readjust my receipt he was the one to tell me I had points towards my purchase. Even asked if I wanted to apply those points. I had asked her about the tag machine, she gruffly pointed to the side ... upon getting my receipt adjusted I saw her in the store and when I asked her if indeed she saw I had the points she just looked blank and unbothered. Outside of her curt attitude , I found what I needed in the store loved the layout and wo - three other employees were awesome ... went out of their way to assist me. If she doesn't know how to interact with customers, perhaps she should find a different job. I usually shop at Petco . I was going to give this store one star until I went back in and was helped by a different person and that wouldn't be fair. Avoid her and you'll be fine. read more

The only way to describe my experience at Petsmart is disgust! I've brought my puppy in once before (a toy Yorkie) to get a basic trim and make sure she doesn't have any hair blocking her eyes. I went to pick her up and was told by the woman in the grooming center that while clipping her front paws, my dog "scratched herself in the face" and had a "minor scratch". When my dog came out, she had a GASH missing about a centimeter from her eye! Not only is there no way that the chunk of skin missing from her face was from her paws, but her nails weren't even clipped! Not the front or the back paws were touched! I was more than appalled and am so thankful they didn't blind my puppy! My poor dog was traumatized. She's normally extremely energetic and playful, and when she came home she ran to her bed and refused to come out for hours! I was hesitant to bring her to Petsmart to begin with but previous to this they did a decent enough job...from now on I will be sticking to a groomer! NEVER AGAIN! read more

DO NOT GO TO THE GROOMERS HERE!! I dropped off my adorable Shih-Poo for a "puppy groom". His fur is NOT trimmed... all they did was CUT ALL OF THE HAIR OFF OF THE TOP OF HIS HEAD! The fur on top of his head isn't even cut evenly! I basically paid $30 for a bath for a 6lb puppy that I could have done myself. When I took him home I dampened his fur to get rid of the terrible blowdry he received, and left over shampoo began to made suds in my tub! They make the puppies smell good by leaving shampoo in their fur and blowdrying it so you can't tell!!!!! TERRIBLE. STAY AWAY! read more

I took my puppy to get a basic grooming, against my better judgement. All I wanted was a basic cut, shows the groomer a photo of his last grooming. Left, and got a phone call that his fur was matted and the would have to cut it low, I wished I'd turned around and picked him up because all they did was cut ALL of his hair off, he doesn't even look like the same dog. We took our mini doxie to get groomed here and not only was he well taken care of he came out looking like a hotdog of a rockstar. If giving zero stars was possible I would. When we first got my dog we sent him to petsmart for grooming up until he came back traumatized after being cut in the eyes while there. After that we went to another place for grooming and just recently it moved locations and is no longer close by. Because of this we had our dog groomed at petsmart again. This time he came back with a large abrasion on his back. Not only did they physically harm my dog twice, neither time they said anything when we came to pick him up. Showed up for Sunday 8:30 am grooming appointment to find out that the groomer had called in sick and there was no one else available all day. I had waited 10 days for a weekend app't, it was 85 degrees by 8 am and my poor little poodle was in desperate need of a hair cut. I understand that the manager has a staffing problem but this is a major company, not a mom-and-pop shop. Their problems should not become my problem. read more

Some person... texting on her plugged in cell phone while talking to us...don't remember her actual name...Bonquiqui or something did the same thing to my dog as a previous reviewer. My dog "a short haired Black Lab" only went in for bath service no grooming. Wanted to add nail grinding also. Bonquiqui said when we picked her up that she was unable to do anything to my dogs nails because she was too difficult. But, still tried to leave it on our bill. My dog had been to 2 other Petsmart locations prior...Union and Watchung...never a prob. If I could give a 0 star I would. I just moved to the area and made a grooming appointment for my dog. My appointment was for 12:30 and they called to change it to 1:30. When I came at 1:30, the groomer Steph who said was the manager told me that she wouldn't be able to groom my dog until 2:30. She said the reason was she had to do someone a favor. She could not care less, was rude and was so whatever. Someone needs to tell her how to communicate to her staff more clearly or give her a lesson on customer service. read more

I adopted a cat and I needed pet supplies so I found this place. I go to this store on a regular basis for my pet supply needs. The area its in seems clean and safe. Plenty of parking spaces. The store is always clean and the employees are very friendly and helpful. its rare to find people who are friendly and actually know what customer service is. I have a small 14 year old dog. His arthritis is so bad that my poor old man can barely stand anymore. But our groomer at this Petsmart has always been so patient and gentle with him, he never seems stressed or scared when I pick him up (like he has in other places). She always tells me how well he did or how hard it was on him every time I take him for his haircut, she even gives him grades on his report card! I know I can trust her to take care of him, even if it means he's there a little longer, just to make him comfortable. And as far as the store itself goes, I really have never met a nicer group of people who really seem to enjoy their work. Sure I have met an annoying or rude employee or two here, but overall the workers are eager to help, very knowledgeable, and very sincere. Th grooming service here is the worst! I gave them 2 opportunities, the first time, I made the appointment they asked me the size of my dog (I said he was 35lbs). Whomever took the appointment gave me the quote in the phone. I arrived, they checked my dog in (so they saw him) and halfway throughout someone called me and told me the quote was wrong because someone gave me a quote for a small dog. Next time, called up and made an appointment for a bath, the person told me that they needed update info on my dog's rabies shot. I replied that it was no problem, he was getting it that day (this was in Saturday and my appointment was for Sunday). I arrive in Sunday and present the certificate and they tell me they cannot take him until 48hours after a vaccine. Doesn't matter that he has had a rabies vaccination multiple times. Why did they make me waste the trip. Don't waste your time coming here...they cannot get it together and there service SUCKS!!!! read more
