My spidey sense was tingling, so I don't know if this is a great place to wander after dark. In the daytime however, it seemed perfectly fine and I saw a couple of women walking alone as well as one pushing a pram. Wide central path leads to a pretty fountain, dedicated to Neptune, the God of water and sea. Several benches and rubbish bins, but there was still a little litter in the bushes.

I love going here throughout the year as the scenery changes frequently and it is a lovely spot to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. On really warm weekends this palce is busier than the city ;-) One of my favourite parts of the park.

Once we got inside and found a good vantage point, I could have stayed all day. What could be more fun than watching people rush to get on a platform that then spins them off into a wall. The last one left wins but if they are too good, the staff will throw medicine balls at them or try to snare them with ropes to dislodge them. Coming from the US where everyone sues everyone, it was crazy to see no waivers, not much in the way of safety... Anyway, I can't think of anything more fun than watching a pile of 8 year olds get spin off into a wall while the DJ blasts "Macarena".

I believe you can also purchase food to feed the deer. The restaurant itself is very. Restrooms are located downstairs with many stalls available. The traditional bavarian food is fantastic. We ordered a few things one being the weiss wurst (white sausage and although it may look uncommon to a non-german it is absolutely fantastic. Especially with the mustard. We came during Oktoberfest so we absolutely had to order a few beers which were really great. Great service except for the fact it took a little convincing to bring us glasses of water. We had been walking around all day and although beer is made of water we wanted to enjoy both. They have live traditional music which was very lively to view and listen to as we enjoyed our meal.

You may get really close to a deer because they are not afraid of people and want to be fed. I saw kids touching and feeding them. Great environment for a family picnic. But there are limited chooses for food/restaurant to dine in. The food in Restaurants are not too expensive but does not taste good.

We were on the hunt for another Christmas Market, this one nestled in the shadow of Sendlinger Tor,…read moreone of the city's remaining City Gates. We started the morning at Marienplatz, then walked from there to the Tor, not really knowing what to expect. It was Christmas Eve, and the last day of this particular market. It was also a bit early in the morning, so most of the stalls were still closed up tight when we arrived. We did walk around the open area (or rather, the place the housed the market stalls) a bit, then took a bit of a stroll around the neighborhood closest to Sendlinger Tor, but there wasn't really much to see or experience. It was a quick visit, and I felt a bit sad about walking away before the stalls opened, but we had several hours before things officially opened, and there wasn't much to do. We did end up (accidentally) going back later that same day, as we'd just kept walking from Marienplatz and ended back up at the gate (without really realizing it at first; we'd gone by a different route, and didn't make the connection that this was the same market until we were in the middle of it). I'm glad we went, but I think our timing was just off. I'd like to think it was way more lively every other day before this, the last day they were open.
