I needed to find something quicker and more affordable and be able to see the apartment before making a decision. So I found another place and decided to go elsewhere. I gave Forest Park $200 for part of the security deposit when I wanted them to hold the place just in case I couldnt find something else. When I found somewhere else I went in to retrieve that money I gave them as a SECURITY DEPOSIT! They did not give me back my money because somewhere in the application it states that money becomes theirs if I don't cancel the apartment within 24 hours. The positive out of all of this is now I know their true colors and even if I decided on this apartment complex I would lose more money because places that operate like this are out for their own benefit anyway. Them stealing $200 to me is well worth small claims court. And I may continue with the filing. Simply because I was not told or aware of them being able to keep my money for services not rendered. My bathroom vanity had a stress fracture because it wasn't installed correctly and my friend leaning on it was magically enough to make it break cleanly and I still had to pay for a replacement. The neighbors do not have any respect for stomping, loud music, or parking in front of their own apartment. Parking space is a joke, they constantly change what you can and cannot do. You don't get to choose your Internet provider because they have a contract with a company that is from Indiana. The management staff is extremely rude and the regional manager, Carla Kelly, is very dismissive. They close the office early most days and refuse to answer their phone. They even let Maintenance enter our apartment without notice, leading us to get ring cameras for inside our home. They make you move out and don't give you a reason why (which is illegal because we have faced retaliation for exercising our rights as tenants).

We reported the issue as soon as it was discovered and fully cooperated with every request made by management and pest control. We followed instructions, allowed access for treatments, documented everything, and did everything we were asked to do. Instead of enjoying our new home, we spent our first days dealing with an infestation, losing sleep, worrying about our belongings, worrying about our child, and trying to figure out how to protect our family. One of the most frustrating aspects of this experience was the way potential solutions seemed to change throughout the process. Different options were discussed, including transfer possibilities and lease-related resolutions. As tenants, we tried to remain flexible and cooperative, but the process often felt uncertain and inconsistent. The emergency line people are awesome, but the maintenance people on site at the landings are awful. I would avoid this place at all costs.
