I don't really have a travel bucketlist, or any bucketlist for that matter, but one thing that I…read morehave really wanted to do for the longest time is to go to Kalinga and get a tattoo from Whang-Od, one of the last survival tattoo artists in the Cordilleras. A little history, Whang-Od is a trained tattoo artists, and at 96 years old (nobody really knows how old she is. Some people say 94, some 96) she is still doing the craft that her forefathers taught her. She creates really intricate geometric tattoo designs using traditional methods and materials (with just a suha thorn as a stylus, soot from pine trees and more soot for creating outlines and templates). The art was about to die out, but fortunately, Whang-Od has been training her grand-niece to follow her footsteps. Anyway, the trek up to the Butbut tribe's village up in the Kalinga mountains is not only treacherous and arduous, it is also a logistical nightmare. The buses and the jeeps there run on a very unpredictable schedule, and sometimes, you will need to stay an entire night at the foothills if you miss your jeep connection by even just a few minutes. You will really need a tour company to organize your trip if you want to go about it with the least hassle, and one of such companies is run by the hilarious Sir Yunan Reyes. Yunan has built his contacts over the years, and his tour organizing company caters to quite a lot of destinations: Banaue, Mt. Pulag, Batad, Sagada, Ilocos, Anawangin, Boracay, Caramoan, Calaguas, and recently Mt. Halcon. Yunan's operation is a worry free tour service, and he takes care of everything, depending of course on your budget. My experience with him in Kalinga was awesome - he took care of our return trip through the Bontoc route (my friend and I went on our own via the Tabuk route). You can set up your own all-inclusive trip, which usually costs P3000-5000 per person. You can also join a tour group, if you are okay with the idea of sharing a vacation trip with complete strangers (this happened to us in Kalinga). You can agree on a meeting and a drop-off place, and he will pick you up with a spacious van with a skilled driver. All you really need to do is pay, book a schedule, show up and have a great time. I didn't know that I needed a Visa for some Asian countries…read more So before going on a vacation I searched for Travel Agencies that help in processing visa applications. This is one of the agency that came up on my search. It was easy to find. Located in a nice area. Accessible to all mode of transportation. Upon entering the office, a receptionist greets you and let you fill up a paper for a certain country you are interested in visiting. Then an agent helps you out. Checks the documents that you are submitting. And when it is completed, they will ask for your Visa Payment. And it will be a waiting game For 2-3 weeks but depends on the country you are trying to avail a visa. Sometimes with in 6 days you get a visa but sometimes it can take up to 3weeks. So plan ahead your trip and make sure you have enough time to get the visa. I recommend this travel agency.

We won't even consider traveling to the Philippines without contacting Reanne first. She put together the most incredible 8-Night, 3-Island itinerary, complete with stays at spectacular 5-star resorts, incredible tours we would have never thought of on our own, and every facet of transportation including flights, ferry boats, and all hotel and airport transfers. (And all during super-peak season I might add!) She was also full of awesome surprises and upgrades throughout our trip and stays including one of the most romantic anniversary dinner's we have ever experienced. But above and beyond all of that, it was her constant communication and personal service that truly impressed us. Every day she would check in with us on What's App, welcome us to new cities, give us our itinerary for the upcoming day, ask about our accommodations, check us in for our upcoming flights, and solve any conceivable problem that came up. (Most issues were solved proactively before we were even aware they could become problems, like upgrading us to business class on the ferry boat to accommodate our suitcase weight and upgrading our hotel so we could get a king-size bed.) Even on Christmas Day while she was home with her family, she was checking in with us to make sure we were happy and taken care of. When she was personally unavailable one evening, someone else from Rajah travel reached out to us on her behalf. (And then Reanne STILL contacted us an hour later!) That level of customer service obsession, creative itineraries and ideas, and a willingness and ability to work with and adjust to our style is why we will use Reanne and Rajah Travel for all of our upcoming trips to the Philippines and anywhere else they serve. (I heard they will be booking the Disney Adventure when it launches out of Singapore! Can't wait!!)
