Service was terrible. Bartender was sleeping on he bar and was quite unfriendly. Place was empty.

I recently made my 1st visit to the Bar for a tap takeover there by a west end Brewery (Halo). The space is fairly small but is situated on a street corner, so easier to find that way. The venue's not upscale and appears kind of off the beaten path, as it;s on a stretch of King St. W. which is comprised largely of residential buildings with commercial properties scattered here and there. The service was quite friendly and informative. As I was there for a tap takeover, I didn't have any of their regular or rotating selections of beer to drink nor anything to eat. The hours on the night I was there (Thurs.) seemed kind of unusual; the Bar didn't open until 8 pm but was open until 2 am that night. I left shortly before midnight - I had arrived just after the Bar opened and it was bright inside and completely barren except for a friend of mind I was meeting there. Over the next several hours, the lights dimmed until the place was quite dark, the music gradually rose in volume and people, people and more people trickled in until it was packed. I talked briefly to 2 or 3 other patrons I hadn't previously met; I got the impression they were regulars due to their friendliness and openness toward me. Due to the location, I likely won't make the venue a regular stop for me due to a lack of other appealing nearby places to visit, but I'd be glad to re-visit for another special event there, as the takeover seemed to go quite well. read more

Lovely local craft beers on tap and so nice looking and tiny and chill, I totally loved this bar and hug out here twice this past weekend in Toronto. The staff was really cool and very smart about beer. They had a lot of specially imported stuff including a malty sour beer that was a total surprise. This is a dark corner and even standing right outside my cousin couldn't find it, it looks a bit sketchy but these are all things I enjoy in a bar, and inside it's all candles and vintage chairs and tiny little candles and a bison. Only off note was one of the awesome bartenders telling us that the owner is not a great guy. Shitty to hear that, whether it's true or not, I wish all the cool people involved here could be kind to each other and get along and keep this excellent bar happy and alive. read more

Dark, divey. Gets a bit crowded later, but easy enough to get to the bar. The crowd was a bit hip, but I haven't been there in a bit. Know what you're getting and you'll have fun. read more

Pharmacy is out-of-this-world good!! I love love love this place. It has got to be one of my favourite bars ever! If you want such a beautifully chill night go here. If you want delicious beer and creative highballs then your chariot (in the form of the best drinking establishment in Toronto) awaits. As a proud Montréalais\Montréaler I'd usually harp on about how Toronto sucks and how everything about Toronto is abysmally horrid and so on and so forth. But Pharmacy, my dear lord God, Pharmacy is just the most redeeming thing about good ole' Tdot. Go to here right this minute and be amazed at the wondrous atmosphere, the awesome lone gentlemanly bartender, great music, smiling patrons, the excellent selection of cold and incredibly tasty microbrews and other libations and their nautical-ish eclectic Art Deco and 60s theme that they've got going on. The IPA (I sadly forget the name but it's like Leprechaun something or other) that they've got on tap is some of the best liquid bliss I've ever had to pleasure of tasting. What's so sweet about Pharmacy is that is doesn't feel like your typical Toronto bar in any way. It feels like some awesome little place you've stumbled upon in some other city, and because it's so dark and chill you feel right at home. Great selection of craft beers (I've been introduced to some new favourites here) and friendly service from the owner. Glad this place is in the shadier depths of Parkdale, too - gives it a nice local feel and keeps it free of too many d-bags. Was hesitate to write a review because I don't really want to share my treasured local with others, but Pharmacy deserves a solid plug so there you have it. read more

Joined a friend and his buddies at this really non-descript place. It is very low-key with some eclectic items handing on the wall such as a bison head and large japanese kabuki facemask. It is a former pharmacy so the name is absolutely appropriate. It is a very cozy and intimate place with a seating at the bar. It is a great place for conversations as the music is light (both volume and genre) that just ambles on in the background while you carry on about. The place started to get busy around 1am just before last call was coming around. The crowd does lean towards the hipsters but the vibe was still good. I ordered a gin & tonic but it was served with soda water which did not jive with me but I did discover the wonderful effects of a Dark & Stormy (Appleton's rum & Crabbie's ginger beer). read more

Not sure I like or agree with the classification of Dive Bar. This place has a lovely feel. The host (owner/bartender) greets you and asks you what sort of things you like then brings you something he thinks you would like. Great way to try some obscure beers. read more

I love Chris at most times. Tho sometimes he's mad and or stressed even if you try to be nice. However I get that it's hard to always be smiling. The decor is funny, the candles are a nice touch. Lots of different brands. Bring dates or friends and you don't have to worry about them being hit on, mainly because the usuals are very hipster and rude. If you're not in their circle expect more than a few to interrupt your conversations, not be friendly and give you a pause to why you came. I wish I didn't have to write that. read more

The owner, Chris, really knows how to take care of his customers. Tell him what kind of beer you like and he'll hook you up with something delicious. The bar is really dark and at first it looks like it's closed but you'll see others' heads in the windows and know to proceed right on in. Really laid back, causal, atmosphere. The kind of place you just want to go and drink a few really good craft beers and strike up conversations with strangers. read more

Love this place the owner is a old record charming record store clerk grouch .olace is Unassuming and people usually know it's off the usual trawl. Friendly, laid back neighbourhood bar. Best earlier in the week when it's more laid-back - weekends can be a zoo.

I wish there were more places like that in Toronto. It's a pretty neat dive with great selection of beers and an awesome owner. The guy knows his brews and can offer up something new and fun to try if you are feeling adventurous. Love the eclectic decor and chill atmosphere! read more

This is the best little hidden treasure I have found! The owner provides only best selection of unique imported beers and he is very intuitive when you ask him to surprise you with a beer suggestion according to how you feel on a particular day. You taste what he offered and think "he nailed it, that's exactly the taste I was looking for" every single time I go there. He actually probably prefers you allow him to suggest a beer. You wouldn't know it is a bar walking by. I hope it stays that way as it makes it that much more unique. read more
