I arrived at 2:20pm, got on line and within 10 minutes i was in the building and my daughter was taking her the test for the license permit, so happy, truly effortless and it all took 30 minutes to get done. Keep in mind, if you take a test, only the person taking the test will go in, for minors have one parent with available to sign paperwork and meet requirements.

I really hope the public libraries like this will continue to thrive. Those DVDs educated me far more than anything I learned in grad schools. Seriously. I've been trying to checkout a state park pass from Library of Things ... it has not been successful. They told me that they only have 4 passes and 10 in the entire library system. I will keep trying! Maybe I will get lucky one day! Hey, I heard a public library in San Francisco has sewing machines! I would love a sewing and knitting/crocheting workshops here ...helping me give more fingers to the corporations by sewing my own underwears ... why not? Maybe you can cooperate with Sew Green to make it happen ... My only "complaint" is that I wish the purchase request process was more transparent .. i.e. if I could get a feedback from the librarian as to the possibility for the purchase of a particular item I want to borrow, and receiving a notification when the item is purchased ... that would be delightful ... but then I know that we can set the catalog search parameter to alert us to the items when it is cataloged in the library system, so no complaints ... It's advised to call in advance to make a reservation, but there were several walk-ins when I visited and they were easily accommodated. Admission is $7 and includes the tour. The historical site is operated solely by Reverend Paul, a highly knowledgeable steward who had such a passion for honoring and celebrating the life of Harriet Tubman that he quit his job in Washington, DC and moved to Auburn to run this landmark. Paul was a fantastic guide. He checked everyone in at the start of the tour. If you arrive early, you can wander through the visitor center on your own, which has photos and facts about Tubman, her contemporaries, and other relevant details about the Underground Railroad, abolition, the Civil War, and women's suffrage. Once the tour starts, attendees sit while Paul spends about an hour telling Tubman's life story in great detail, from childhood to old age. Paul's talk is thorough, humorous, and wonderfully educational. He asks for audience participation throughout to keep the group engaged. After the talk, we moved to one of the houses on the property that was open to the public and where Tubman actually lived. Paul shared additional details about the history of the abode. It contained furniture pieces to exemplify what might have been inside the home when Tubman lived there. After the tour, attendees were free to walk the grounds, return to the visitor center, or peek inside the other brick home on the property, which was not open for entrance. I would budget about 2 hours for the experience. Great opportunity to learn about Tubman, a remarkable and legendary figure who shaped our nation's history.

I have a person that came from out there came to live in one of my working programs of domestic violence and needed just one letter stating that her case was closed, and here they came with an aditude, telling her and myself that they cannot give any information out, they cannot send fax to the welfare office in the state of California. I have had the case worker calling and all they had to say was no one can help you at this time, everyone is at lunch, called again something different. What kind of help are these people giving to public? I hope this review serves to send someone over there and see what's going on. Lack of poor service and no manners. And as professionalism, OMG one of the "ladies" even swore at me, I couldn't believe how this government office is still running. I'm disgusted by their services.
