Came for a facial a few weeks ago. I was a bit late and the staff was still able to accommodate me which was really nice. The spa is downstairs and though small is very welcoming/relaxing. The facial bed was honestly one of the most comfortable I've ever been in. I wasn't expecting much since I came in with a Gilt city, but this was one of the best facials I've ever had. Alice was so attentive and made my skin feel amazing. The products they use are very high end and I didn't feel pushed or pressured at the end which is rare! I also loved that she provided hand/neck massages when you were sitting with a mask or steaming. I hate when high end spas leave you sitting there. Alex has been giving me facials with dermaplaning which really makes my skin look younger. Dr. Ben is a botox expert at a reasonable price. When I first moved to Charlestown I was looking for a new salon. This place is close to my home so I thought I would give it a shot and I have been going back ever since. Lauren Is an amazing stylist and very friendly, I highly recommend her. The staff are overall very personable and am always offered a water when I arrive. It's very thoughtful and adds to the salon experience. The decor is very tasteful and again adds to the feel of the salon. If you are in Charlestown there is not a better place to go. I had heard such great things, and was really excited to get my hair cut here (as I live really close) Unfortunately they are managed horribly, and have no interest in good customer service. I called the salon the first time, and the guy who answered said he wasnt the person to talk to about appointments, and that I should do it online, and that I could do it online even with a groupon. I scheduled with Debralee as I had heard such great things, confirmed the appointment, made arrangements to be there as it was pretty close to when I get off work. This morning, the day of the appointment, get a call that I cannot have my scheduled and confirmed appointment with Debralee (first they said groupons only work with certain stylists/ or I can reschedule). On top of it all they were extremely rude. No thanks, I had already arranged my schedule to be there, and confirmed the time. Not the best business practices if you ask me, I am new to the area and was looking for a salon to be my new go to place, and possible to do hair for myself and all my bridesmaids for my upcoming wedding, guess I have to keep looking read more

When I visited her the first time, she took the time to have a conversation with me about my hair...what I wanted, what I liked and didn't like, she made some suggestions and got my thoughts. I've been going to salons on Newbury Street for years and this was one of the best haircuts I've ever gotten and it was reasonably priced! Keep in mind that I don't really ask for anything crazy but the subtle ways that she cut my hair really made a huge difference in how it looked days/weeks/months later. For my recent visit, Debralee colored my hair. I was looking for a really subtle balayage/sombre look. We chatted and I showed her some pics. I love what she did. I can't stop admiring my hair and neither can my bf! Debralee just opened a brand new, full floor space on the first floor. Good color but more expensive than Newbury street for a baylage that wasn't heavy (aka not alot of color used). Had I know the price I wouldn't have followed through with the service. I recommend calling beforehand to ask for a price (or ask when your consulting with the stylist.) $336 with tip for little baylage and toner. The price is very steep. My fault for not asking that beforehand but the cost really put a damper on the resulting color. read more

Debralee has been my stylist for about 8 years now. I was looking for someone who could cut and color a lot of long thick hair and she does it perfectly. I've recommended her to numerous friends and they agree. I always receive constant compliments after I see her. This time I received, "You look like J-Lo!", "You look so young." And "I love the color." Just to name a few. Not only is Debralee fabulous, her staff is, too! I've had to see a few different staff members when Debralee was busy on maternity leave. I finally gave up on Philip Edward Salon. I was always very happy with my haircuts, so I was hesitant to leave, but unfortunately the service has gotten progressively worse over the last two years. Every time I had an appointment, they called to change the time and/or left me waiting for up to 45 minutes. The one time I wasn't able to make my appointment, I called to reschedule, she took my credit card to hold it, and then charged me a 50% cancellation fee without telling me. I understand policy, but it just seems that their time is more valuable than mine, and that's not the way it should be as a paying customer. The service could have been more professional and friendly as well once I was there. I hope you have a better experience. It's nice to see a new small business in Charlestown and after supporting it for almost two years, I am very disappointed that this was the outcome. read more

This was my second time at the salon, the first in the newly renovated space. BOTH of my cuts I have waited over 20 min to start my appointment, and even then the stylists were splitting time with me and finishing another customer (very unprofessional, shows a lack of time management and disregard for the customer's time). I had the most recent wash and cut with Lauren. The cut, while not bad, was not worth $75. Other than ask me what I wanted, she did not speak to me the entire time. However, she quickly got chatty with the regulars she knew who came in later. Also, for a salon that wants to be seen as "luxurious" and "professional", the stylists did not focus on the customer and chatted as if I was not there, and additionally were dressed like teenagers who had just got out of bed (ripped leans, see-through crop top, and see-through yoga pants that showed exactly what was underneath). I had a very hard time paying the asked price for this haircut, and will not be returning to the salon. read more

I usually don't write reviews for my experiences at salons but I was so happy with the results I wanted to share. I recently got my eyebrows micro-bladed here and I'm obsessed. All my life I've had such light and thin eyebrows and was constantly self conscious about them. Drawing them in everyday was such a hassle. I was super nervous to get them micro-bladed but Desiree was really awesome about breaking down the process for me. She showed me an outline of how they would look, she told me that they would fade a little bit but the next time I come in after 6 weeks we would fill them in more and they would be perfect. I'm so pleased with the results I will most definitely be going back. The salon itself was gorgeous and I was greeted nicely when I walked in the door. I've saw tons of Instagram posts of the work the stylists do there and they do great work. Will definitely be making this my go to salon. read more

She has taken me from platinum blonde, through the process of returning to my natural dark tone, now with healthy golden & honey ombre. Her exclusive product line leaves my hair feeling & smelling amazing! She is creative, yet will listen to your needs/wants as well as taking the time to view your Pinterest HAIR pin pics! The prices are also very reasonable, not what you would expect from such a glamorous salon. I like that it is a comfortable, relaxing experience with an artistic vibe. This is a review for the salon's spa services. I just received a facial and peel from their new esthetician, Elziana. It was not only the most relaxing and indulgent experience that I have had at a spa in years, but my skin looked 5 years younger as a result. The neck and shoulder massage was an added bonus. And to further add to the great experience, she was incredibly nice and the prices are very reasonable. The location of the salon is convenient and parking was a snap. I can't wait to go back.
