He knew how to compose shots and make them look great. But most important, the pictures came out wonderful! I'm finally comfortable taking pictures on manual mode--or at least attempting to--and I have a better idea of what to look for in terms of ideal light. Prior to her class, I was stuck on AV mode. The class does cover some technical detail, but for the most part, it's hands on. It was very laid back, and not intimating what so ever. I found the class very beneficial. He asked us what we wanted and made sure to get every shot we asked for. But we certainly didn't have to give him a script, we let him be the photographer and give us advice on what to do, where to go, how to do things....so it made it very easy, just look at the camera and smile. Tom seemed willing to do whatever we wanted though; if we wanted something a certain way, that's what he did; if we wanted to take direction, he gave us direction. He didn't even flinch when our son repeated shanked him in back on multiple ocassions with a crab claw in the middle of a photo, in fact he seemed to like it, (which I know he probably did not). Our sesssion was scheduled for an hour, but it felt like we were there longer, and not once was there a mention of time; it seemed like he was willing to stay there until we were satisfied. So what that says is that customer satisfaction is paramount to him, which is the way it should be, but a lot of times, it's difficult to find. Also, he is very reasonably priced. He didn't have extravagant "fees" or extra costs thrown in there. It was cut and dry, straight forward. Also he came all the way from Ocean City, MD to Lewes, DE (a couple hour drive) with no added cost or complaint. Tom certainly was great on multiple fronts and we would definitely hire him again.
