I enjoyed the regular Philly cheesesteak with provolone. I was the best and most authentic one I've had in the Houston area for 20 years. One change/: the next order will have extra provolone. My housemate had the buffalo chicken cheesesteak and asked me to order it again. This is a remarkable compliment as she likes very few sandwiches outside a narrow selection of Italian subs with a specific set of modifications and instructions. She's from New York... need I say more? As part of a promotional I received a complimentary hamburger. I had it for lunch the following day and dressed it up with fresh veggies, a slice of American cheese and a bit of mayo. I didn't expect much, but was pleasantly surprised. The food will make it however you like it, but will also give you his recommendations for how it should be eaten. Cheesesteak was excellent. I was looking forward to a Philadelphia Philly cheesesteak experience. I highly doubt that my visit to this restaurant was it. I got their original cheesesteak and the sandwich was dry, meat was tough and it didn't have flavor, not even the onions. I had to add steak sauce just to finish it. The pictures on the website made it seem like the food was going to be good. The best thing on my plate were the fries. Ok.. I decided to try this restaurant because even though I'm not a big meat eater I wanted a cheese steak sandwich (a craving perhaps). Opon entering the restraunt it reminded me of the privately own black restruants in the south side of Chicago from my youth. Not the cleanest, definitely in need of a face lift and a more inviting overall atmosphere. I ordered the Philly cheese steak combo which consisted of a six inch cheese steak sandwich fries and a soft drink. $18 so.. while the sandwich was good the fries were frozen crinkle and the soft drink was from a can. While decent I think it was a bit over priced I think $13 to $15 for the quality of the food would have been better. And while the restraunt brought back fine memories, with the way the economy is and eatery competition in general the decor, paint and overall look was pretty bad. As a restaunt owner I would think you would always want to present a clean welcoming environment. Even if the food is just ok, its still nice to go out occasionally to a decent place sit eat and chill. But if you decide to eat there its more like eat and go.. I think they do more take out anyway. The food was good but would have been better if it were less expensive if the appearance of the establishment would have been better and not so dark and dingy my score would have been higher. She was equally as rude and dismissive to other customers on the phone and at the counter. She's a bit older. I almost didn't order off that alone.
