Ordered pork banh mi and the portion of meat was fair but not enough pickled carrots and daikon. I ate the sandwich but nothing screams delicious heaven like I want more. My husband's beef banh mi was a joke. It was so light and there were two pieces of meat not even overlapping. That's an insult. Pork spring rolls were ok nothing special and peanut sauce was not thick enough very runny and not enough meat. The two spring rolls were long so maybe appearance was good. I eat at this place pretty regularly because I live down the street but today was not a good experience with Kevin. I like the Pho, I think it's a very good broth. I order the same thing when I go every time either the chicken or well-done brisket. I like to get the beef because I eat so much chicken every day as a protein. But the problem with the brisket, it's or miss the two times I had it prior to today, It was great but again today, it was fatty and you couldn't chew it and I'm not swallowing food that I I can't chew. So 90% of it was spit out. I agree with Kevin prices are high food is high and I'm not going to pay $15 for a fatty brisket that I can't chew and swallow and I could've done without his attitude. So I may be looking for a new Pho place. To reply to you Kevin, I don't understand why the brisket is perfect when it's so fatty you can't chew it. Now the two times before that I had the brisket and it was just fine. I've eaten a lot of brisket in my time and in my opinion it shouldn't be so fatty that you can't chew it. I did cook it thoroughly and it's didn't make a difference. As I mentioned, you don't need to refund my money. Came here for lunch on a weekday and it was pretty busy. I think they were short staffed so the overall service took extra time. Despite this, the food came out hot and delicious. The food was amazing, the broth was very well flavored and had a subtle minty taste to it. The meat egg rolls were crunchy and the dipping sauce was amazing, not too vinegary or salty. The spring rolls were pretty big compared to many other restaurants in Riverside but also the best I've had in such a long time. The peanut sauce was also perfect very umami. The pork sandwich was absolutely delicious aswell, the meat was so very tender in all the dishes. The service was great and the waiter and waitress were very kind and attentive to us despite being pretty busy. Truly loved the setting inside as well. Soooo good on a rainy night I went to Pho 81 last night during this huge rainstorm socal has been experiencing and they did not disappoint! I got the veggie pho that came with tofu. I also got tofu spring rolls that were delicious and fresh. During this rainstorm, it seemed like everyone else in the IE also wanted pho (understandably) so they were extremely busy and it did take a bit to get our food, but it was worth it. Pho 81 is a wonderful find as a worthy ambassador of Vietnamese cuisine in Riverside! Located in a strip mall at the corner of Lincoln and Van Buren anchored by an Albertson's. Its interior is refreshingly modern, well-lit, and clean. We were warmly greeted by the owner (Kevin, I think) who recognized my co-worker as he has eaten here a few times. We ordered the Charbroiled Beef Vermicelli Combo, which is served with charbroiled shrimp, an egg roll, bean sprouts, lettuce, chopped cucumbers, and a side dish of fish sauce, and Beef Stir fried with Egg Noodles. Both dishes were packed full of umami! It was too hot outside for Pho, but I did ask for a small cup of its broth on the side, so I can have a taste. The Pho broth was clean tasting, clear of any protein foam, and was salted just right. I look forward to trying their Pho during the cooler months, as I anticipate that I will enjoy it too! We came after church around 1:00 P.M. on a rainy Sunday. The place was pretty empty at first. My siblings and I got the combo special regular-sized bowl and a 3 sides: spring rolls, fried shrimp and egg rolls. My friends got the wontons and the cooked brisket pho. This place offers regular and small-sized bowls. I was hungry so I got the regular-sized one. The small bowl is still a good amount of food, though. The tables and floors were a little sticky but I'm gonna blame it on the rain. It was pouring down that day. The staff was attentive and sweet. The food was amazing !!!! We got the pork sandwich, special combo rice, and wontons. The Wontons were fresh and so creamy. The dipping sauce that came with it paired so nicely. My boyfriend got the pork sandwich and I am not a fan of pork and was hesitate on trying the sandwich, but this sandwich had so much flavor and was so good! I regretted not getting it! We had the fried calamari, which were deep fried rings served with a sweet chili sauce. They were hot, and not too greasy and tasted great. I shared the combo vermicelli (grilled beef, shrimp and egg roll) with my daughter. It was large enough for both of us to share, and was definitely filling. The rest of my family members each had the #4 pho (rare steak & well done brisket) which they said was delicious as well. For the pho, you have the option of small ($9.81) or regular ($12.81) size. The broth for the chicken pho has such a beautiful aroma that it's like a good tea.
