Had a great experience, I had the beef pho and my date had the Bo Kho. Both were excellent. We also shared an order of the springs tools which came out hot and crispy. To drink I had a soda lemonade which was very refreshing, and he had a Vietnamese coffee which he enjoyed. The service was great, got a table right away and the food came quick. We went on Friday around 5:30pm and it was empty. We ordered 2 bowls of pho and 2 plates of the grilled pork. The grilled pork plates came last and they tasted terrible. The pork was at best room temperature, dry and chewy. It had the texture of beef jerky. I also had the egg meatloaf and shredded pork skin that was cold. They give you a lot of tender beef and noodles but the broth overall doesn't have a lot of lemongrass and seasonings. It also gets a little salty over time. Same thing for the pho, the broth is a little salty for my liking but the beef is super tender. This place gets pretty busy so expect a little wait for food. We came for the Bun Bo Hue and it did not disappoint! I got the large size and it came with plenty of meat and they didn't leave out the blood cake like some other places. Surprisingly, I liked the blood cake here more than any other places I've had it because it was less irony in flavor. The broth was flavorful and bit more shrimp paste forward compared to others. The noodles were fine but I felt there should have been more given the size of the soup. The only thing I didn't like is that they chop up the bean sprouts and mix with the cabbage. I can't stand bean sprouts! Overall, I thought the BBH was better than Pho Tay Do but not quite as good as Bep Nga which is my favorite one. Pho A definitely earns a place in my lunch rotation! This must be a new restaurant thing cause I have another spot that I haven't done my review for yet and they had the same dirty tables and chairs at their establishment. With so many pho places it can be hard to figure out which one is still using old school recipes And serving up meals that not only taste good but are good for you. Super stoked to have such great food. The Bun Bo Hue was wonderful. It's not as spicy as some of the others I have tried. It is prepared the traditional way and they will confirm if you want the pigs feet and pig congealed blood while taking your order. I went in wanting egg noodles, with wontons and pork but ended up getting the beef soup with egg noodles. I requested fried garlic to add to my bowl and the flavor was great! The beef was really tender and didn't contain too much fat. I didn't have to add any hoisin, soy sauce, etc to my bowl, which is always a good thing. Phở An is a Vietnamese restaurant in Richardson that serves quality pho. However, they also offer one of my favorite dishes, Bún chả Hà Nội, and serve their Vietnamese Coffee the OG way. A must visit if you're in the area. My Overall Rating - 4 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - You'll find Phở An is a nondescript shopping strip along Hwy 75. Look for the gaudy LED lighting. Inside, the layout is typical of 99% of the Vietnamese places in DFW - rows of tables and an area you pay in the back. If you've seen been in one, Phở An is no different. 1/2 Star. Service - The service is solid. Expect to be seated quickly, your order taken quickly, the food to come out quickly, and then you pay quickly. It's a time tested and efficient process that you'll find in most Vietnamese restaurants like this. However, the staff at Pho An were very friendly, always smiling, and even stopped in to refill our drinks. 1 Star. Food - I want to focus on the Bún chả Hà Nội. This is a rice noodle dish served with fresh herbs, cucumbers, pickled carrots, and pork patties with grilled pork in a bowl of fish sauce. This may sound foreign to many non-Vietnamese diners, but for me this is an outstanding dish. I like to break up the pork patties first, pour some fish sauce on the fresh noodles, and be transported into the past - just like mom made. The dish, while meant for one person, can easily be split into two. Also, the Vietnamese Coffee is served the OG way. A single serve coffee percolator sits over a glass of condensed milk. Once the strong coffee is brewed, you mix it with the creamy condensed milk and pour it over ice. Sip it with a straw and then be prepared to get a major coffee buzz. It's an interactive experience that easily beats the ready-made offerings found at other Vietnamese restaurants. 1 1/2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes. While I didn't cover the pho from Phở An in this review, it's solid. But if you're reading this review, I encourage you to take a leap and try the Bún chả Hà Nội. ORDER Pho Dac Biet (Combination Pho) Regular Sized - The bo vien (meatballs) had really nice chewy and soft texture. The broth airs on the lighter side and is not that salty compared to other pho places which make it taste really good. The meat portions are pretty generous and noodles are well-cooked. The meat was also really tender which was yummy. I will say the only thing is that some of the leafy vegetables (like the mint) does look a bit on the older side with some black. Tra Chanh (Lemon Tea) - Lemon Tea was really tasty. It was good with a hint of sourness and some sweetness. Reminds me of the lemonade that my mom would hand make whenever I got sick as a child. Super tasty and light! I usually don't go out that often for pho since my mom makes it at home, but I will say that this place is one of the better places in the DFW area. A few days ago, a yelper friend posted her home made Bun Rieu and was craving real hard for a good bowl. I had BBH a few days ago hoping that will cut the cravings but no. The rain we had from the night before and the cold front that's coming in is not helping at all. We were supposed to just get another bowl of BBH from another high rated place across the street but decided to revisit this place as I've had their Bun Rieu before. One of the best decision, ever. The broth is comforting and very warming. It's now very obvious to me that brunch is better this way. None of the sugary pancakes and waffles and the coma side effects of bottomless mimosas. Service was typical of any Asian places. You sit, they ask and wait for your food to come. For a mom and pop shop, at this hour it was pretty busy. There were already empty bowls of heartwarming soups on some tables waiting to be cleaned out of the tables. Definitely a great place if you are trying to move on from getting pho. I've been to pho a twice, the first time to get a pho, and the second time to get a bun bo hue. I've low-key heard a lot of hype about this place so I wanted to come and check it out. The vibe & service in this restaurant is like any typical Viet restaurant so I had high hopes. I really liked their pho, because of the meatballs. In my opinion, it's better than pho bac just because the meatballs here were nice and chewy, which is the texture I'm looking for. The broth here is also on the sweeter side, but that's the same case with their bun bo hue. If you've never been to a pho place before, just ask for the combination pho and tell them what meats you want. (I obviously love the meatball in pho, even though it's not a Vietnam thing) Now for the bun bon hue. I liked how the noodles were more soft, whereas pho tay do is more bouncy. Personally the softer noodles were easier for me to eat. I would also say the broth here is good, and my boyfriend personally rated this place an 8 compared to pho tay do. Authentic viet place run by viet ppl! Place is fairly big, casual, slightly oily/slippery floor tho so be careful. Bun bo hue- not too oily or spicy. Flavorful, lots of different meats. Texture of the noodles was smooth and good. I enjoyed it. They gave us a dip with half shrimp paste and chili. I've never had that dip anywhere else before and it was pretty good for dipping the meats Bun rieu- also flavorful and loaded with meats. Definitely a strong crab taste in the soup. Half viet husband thought it was pretty good as well. Egg rolls- decent. The sauce they gave us wasn't the usual fish sauce though. They gave us some type of sweet and sour sauce that was a bit thick. It was different but ok Pickled soda lemonade- I've had better elsewhere (At Pho bac). Pho An is my comfort place. I've been coming here since I moved to TX in 2012. The inside is spacious, decor very minimal but functional, prices are fair and service is consistent. When it comes to food their pho is some of the BEST in the DFW metroplex, can't even lie. I'm not sure how they make their broth but it's always so rich & full of flavor...whoever is in the kitchen, hats off and chef's kisses to you because you have it down to a science. I've also tried their Com Bo Luc Lac aka shaking beef (also the best I've had in DFW), Bun Mang Vit aka Duck noodle soup with bamboo shoots (good but not that filling), and their spring and egg rolls which you can't really go wrong with. Today I came by and decided to try a new dish that I've seen on TikTok called Bo Kho. Y'ALL. Think hearty American beef stew, but on steroids in terms of flavor. This might honestly be my new favorite dish to order, especially as we head into fall. So so so so so so so finger lickin, bowl slurping good. The ONLY critique(s)/suggestions I have is to make sure the there's enough edible beef pieces per order, as I got more of the thicker rind-like pieces. I also wouldn't be mad if there were more root vegetables added in to the dish (potatoes, rutabaga etc) to be more filling, especially if you opt for french bread as the side vs noodles. Nonetheless, this is my favorite spot and if you find yourself here as a first timer I can guarantee you won't be disappointed. read more

I was craving bun rieu so bad, so I got ordered some for takeout along with a Thai tea!! The portion size was generous, I ordered a large so I could make it into two meals. The bun rieu came with crab cakes, meat balls, pork blood, tomatoes, cha sausage, soup, noodles, and lots of garnishes. I don't like pork blood so I'll def skip on that next time. The bun rieu broth was perfection, so much flavor and really comforting while tasting healthy because of the tomato. They also give you extra spicy sauce and shrimp paste so you can adjust the soup flavor. I ate everything in two meals and it was super delicious. I'll definitely be returning for their bun rieu!! IMO, hands down, Pho An has one of the Bun Bo Hue and Bun Rieu around DFW area. After a Vietnamese friend introduced me to this place, I have yet to discover another place with better BBH than Pho An. In fact, the BBH here is as good if not better than those I had in Vietnam during my travel! The broth for both is so rich and complex but most importantly the toppings such as bean sprouts, basil, and lettuce are ALWAYS so fresh without any black spots or wilting! The noodles and meat are done just right. The staff is friendly and the service is efficient. The wait is never more than 10 minutes. The portions are generous and the prices are so worth it! The restaurant is clean with good seating arrangements, plus they take credit cards! When I bring my friends here, they have nothing but good reviews! You will be drooling the most it's your step inside this place! It was our first time and we had seen so many awesome reviews, we each got something different. On a Sunday lunch crowd we were seated right away. We ordered Pho Ga (chicken), beef stew, chicken curry, and pork skin Banh mi. Wow each dish full of flavor. The portions are pretty large for 'regular' size. I needed to get two take home boxes. The chicken curry was delicious, not spicy and the meat falls off the bones. My kid said her favorite part was the potatoes. The dish comes with a heaping plate of rice. The beef stew, very tender meat and the tendon was really soft. The egg noodles had a bite to them and pulled up the soup with every bite. The carrots beautifully stewed soft but not mushy! Just right! The pho had a beautiful broth that wasn't too salty and the chicken thinly sliced. I have to remember to ask for no onions next time!
