I'd heard negatives about this place for years but we decided to try it for lunch and were pleasantly surprised at how good it was! The egg rolls we shared as an appetizer were crunchy and tasty, and most importantly not greasy; and I really liked the spring rolls and their dipping sauce, too. The pho broth was delicious and my dish came with a lot of tender steak, and although I avoid tendons and tripe, my dining companions enjoyed theirs. The jasmine iced tea was refreshing and our server was very accommodating with water service, as well. The interior of the restaurant seems to have been redone fairly recently making it a very attractive and comfortable place to dine. We'll be adding this one to our regular rotation of favorite lunch spots. read more

One of our favorite restaurants anywhere! We've been here many times and will keep coming back. We're admittedly picky when it comes to asian cuisine (my wife was raised on home cooked authentic food), and Pho Chef is one of our favorite restaurants. Without question the best southeast asian restaurant in the city! Their Pho is delicious, and several of their other dishes are great as well. Love the spring rolls and pork plates. The staff are friendly, and the owners are very attentive. It's a warm and locally owned kitchen. We're lucky we stumbled upon it many years ago. Prices very reasonable too. read more

Is a different style of pho but is good. I am not Vietnamese but I learn with my boyfriend what is a good pho. This one is alright if you are searching for a something healthy or something without salt you may like this place. I recommend since is not easy to find this kind of food here em Mexico, but is a little different that I was expecting. read more

I would say this place's Pho has gone downhill from what it used to be several years ago.

This was the only Vietnamese restaurant we could find in Guadalajara and it did not disappoint! The owners were there when we came in on New Year's eve. They helped us make selections from the menu as our Spanish is not the best. We ended up talking for about 15-20 minutes about where we came from (Los Angeles) and a wide variety of subjects. They told us they added their vegetarian section to their menu recently, which we really appreciated because we try to keep vegan/vegetarian whenever possible. Their kindness did not end there as they were kind enough to offer us their vegetarian/vegan friendly lychee dessert! It was delicious! We highly recommend anyone looking for a more authentic Vietnamese experience to come here. The other restaurants in town are mainly fusion restaurants. read more

I've been here quite a few times since Pho is arguably my favorite food, and this is the only place I know that serves pho in this city. The pho is not bad and it's the only dish I've tried here, however I've encountered some extremely horrible service and it leaves me awe struck not finding any complaint regarding this in the previous reviews. One time I asked for the check before finishing my food because they usually take a very long time to bring anything to the table, and the waitress started cleaning the table as soon as she arrived with it. She even lifted up my plate while I was still eating to clean under it, and she stayed there tapping her foot until I payed. Like I said, pho is my favorite food and I've been back a couple of times to give them more chances but they always end up disappointing me even further. It sucks but I'm going to have to abstain from eating pho because the food is just not worth the horrible experience. read more

The only thing decent here was waitress service. I was the only Asian in the restaurant with my Mexican fiancee at the time. There were three to four other groups at any one time while I was there. The host (Mexican man with white hair) greeted all other groups and clearly skipped over my table and made us feel quite unwelcomed. My internal racism alarm was ringing off the hook. What sad irony: the only Asian in an Asian restaurant racially discriminated against. When I went to use the restroom and walked past the host, I tipped a smile and nodded his way and he just stared without any decent human greeting or acknowledgement. Just that alone drowned out my appetite and defused my excitement for the third place that served Pho in all of Jalisco state. Now for the food... I ordered the pho with beef brisket and tendons for my fiancee while I ordered the regular beef steak pho. My pho came with few beef products and most of the beef product was just fat. My fiancee also had very meager beef portions and when I asked her about any tendons she told me they were sparse and tiny. The noodle soups were only average at best in taste. What a pathetic representation of Vietnamese food, generosity, and culture! I sure as heck will never go back and certainly discourage my medical colleagues from giving a peso to keep this lousy establishment running. If you want better pho, head on over to Thai Spice. Even better is to go to Toyo market near Chapultepec to buy the ingredients and then make it yourself with higher quality ingredients. I guarantee it will taste 100 times better. read more
