Had the #42 pho. Delicious broth, noodles and steak were prepared perfectly. One of the best pho I've had out of several I've tried. Definitely recommend the pho! Service was quick since the restaurant was pretty empty. Lovely ambiance, peaceful music and waterfall sounds in the background.

There's just something about Pho that makes me very happy. I ordered my first bowl 25 years ago, and it's been a favorite treat ever since. I've eaten at many of the Vietnamese restaurants in Portland and I have my favorites, but honestly, sometimes convenience is all it takes for me to choose one over another. Pho Gia rates highly for a number of reasons. The restaurant is very centrally located on NE Sandy in between Hollywood and downtown, so it's never very far from the areas I frequent. Pho Gia has a pleasant vibe, is clean, and the waitstaff are generally pleasant. The food is always served very quickly, and I've never been disappointed with my meal. In fact, they have some of the best fresh herbs and garnishes I've ever been served in a Vietnamese restaurant before. Their hot chili oil with fermented soybeans is ridiculously good. I'm not sure if they make it in-house, but I always use it generously when I dine here. Parking can be a bit of a pain. There is a small parking lot around the corner that has 15 spots that are shared with other local businesses, and there are several spots in front of the restaurant on the street. There aren't many Vietnamese restaurants with outdoor seating in Portland, so I really appreciate the picnic tables on the sidewalk. It's a nice convenience when I want to take my dog out to dine with me. Pho Gia sits solidly amongst my Top 10 favorite Vietnamese restaurants in Portland. Though I've not sampled many of the other dishes they offer, my friends and family have always provided positive feedback.

Friendly ambiance, helpful service and good, fresh food. They have a flavorful vegan broth in their veggie pho.

A little about me, I am passionate about creating consistent ratings of restaurants and books, so when I rate something 5 s, you know it's 5 worthy. In order for me to give out 5 s, this restaurant has to become THE restaurant for me for that type of food - so for example, if I'm wanting Italian this is THE first place that comes to mind. So with that, I am happy to say that Pho Gia is THE place for Pho for me in the Portland area. Pho Gia has a large seating area with tons of 4-6 top tables, perfect for a family dinner or a gathering with friends. The service is always super fast and the staff is very friendly and willing to answer any and all questions you have. The pho comes out very quickly and has the most perfect warm, comforting, and savory broth. Add in your favorite toppings or spice it up a tad and dive right in!

Haven't been to this place in a while. Met a friend today for lunch. A bit cold inside--was the first impression. We had salad rolls (okay peanut sauce), and two bowls of steaming Pho. My friend got a iced tea. Fair prices (Pho Tai 14$ and salad rolls $7.50). Don't recall the tea price, sorry. Stand out here is the broth, not too sweet and the noodles are Al dente! Lots of options on the menu for gluten-free and veggie-friendly. The chili oil (see pic) is a hit! Crunchy, sweet, sour and spicy! Totally made in-house. I'll be back, but not great for a date or group, lacking in service and ambience, but good food, feel me?

I stopped in this spot mid afternoon one day. I was the only one there, which could be a bad sign. As far as my experience, this place was phenomenal. The staff were nice and quick to make it all happen. I ordered the veggie Pho and an iced coffee. WOW! I was not disappointed. The coffee was delicious and in a fun glass. The pho was plentiful and fresh. I liked the veggie pho. I can't speak to any meat dishes for this spot. You should give it a try.

My first time here, just saw it driving home and thought a bowl of pho' sounds good!I ordered the special bowl super size with tendon and tripe. The price is $20.00 more than most places but it was very good the garnish plate had really fresh basil and two other types of greens. The broth is some of the best I've had not salty and really rich. Overall I really liked it and would go back again. The only negative I can think of is that the water had no ice and was room temperature so that was a turn off

The employees are so nice and welcoming, THE FOOD IS AMAZING!!! DEFINITELY RECOMMEND.. 10/10 I walked in and ordered my food and it was hot and ready within 7 minutes of being there. The lady was super nice to my son and gave him some candy while he waited. Everyone seemed very helpful and very very nice. I will be a frequent customer from now on with the experience that I had today. Me and my son will definitely be coming here from now on. I ordered the Ox tail Pho number 44 and added a few things! This is the Super Bowl that feeds 2 people.

Not sure if I caught them on an off day but I had the worst experience here. It was very slow when I walked in, two parties in there, but it took the server 10 minutes to acknowledge me waiting by the door. He finally sat me down on a dirty table with a half cup of water sitting on it. He never cleared it. Service continued to be slow even though the place was dead and the food was just ok. When I was ready to pay, I couldn't find the server anywhere, leaving me waiting for 10 min again! I've never had service so bad. There are so many good Vietnamese restaurants in Portland, literally go anywhere else.

The egg noodle bowl on the top with fried chicken and tofu was phenomenal. The chicken was similar to fish sauce wings and the tofu was very caramelized and had a nice salty coating of sauce. An order of spring rolls were also ordered, but wasn't in the photo. It was ordered with crispy pork belly. Based on some reviews, I was skeptical about ordering the pork belly, but I was pleasantly surprised. The skin was very crispy and you could hear the crunch from across the restaurant. The restaurant is very open with big windows, but I liked the concept of the open kitchen look. The service was really good. The staff are friendly and the store is extremely aesthetic, the interior has this spin on modern Vietnamese style of decorations. Great interiors that's won't disappoint your date. Pho Hung on Powell…read moreis a long-standing Portland staple, so expectations were decently high, but our visit ended up being a mixed bag. * Rice Plates (Cơm Tấm): * The Grilled Pork, Shrimp, & Crispy Tofu Skin plate was easily the highlight. The pork had a great char, the shrimp were grilled well, and the crispy wrap added a nice textural crunch. Steamed broccoli was a fresh addition, and the side broth hit the spot. * The Pork Chops with Shredded Pork Skin (Bì) & Egg Meatloaf (Chả Trứng) plate was decent, though a bit average compared to other spots nearby. The flavors were fine, but nothing particularly stood out. * Noodle Soup: The spicy beef noodle soup had a rich, deep color and a generous amount of fresh herbs and onions, though the broth lacked a bit of the punch and depth of flavor I was hoping for. Overall: It's a convenient neighborhood option with generous portions and fast service, but given the quality of Vietnamese food along Powell and 82nd, it lands right in the middle for me. Good, but not quite a standout.
