Seriously one of my all time favorite weekend lunch spots. I love coming here to get a huge fix of quality pho to help kick off a lazy afternoon. The bowls are huge, broths (especially any beef bone broth) are flavorful, and the noodles have a great chewiness and texture. For a group of 3, it was more than enough food to share share one XL Pho, one L pho, and two appetizers like the spring rolls and Vietnamese crepe. I highly recommend the pork rib and rice entree - delicious!! Come earlier for lunch on a weekend to escape the Noon rush (they open at 11 am) and service will be incredibly fast. The servers are very attentive in asking what you need and getting your dishes and the check to you quickly. Today, my friend had brought a coupon for a free spring roll app w/ an order of $25+. I've been coming here for almost 13 years. My most recent in-dining experience was enough to make me never want to return. The staff was rude, inconsiderate, and the food itself was sub-par. I had to beg to be served a glass of water as I waited for my order. Everyone acted as if it was a huge chore to serve people. My fresh rolls were literally just lettuce. For the most part, I generally go for their Dac Biet which is the common beef pho with almost every cut of meat on the menu. In my most recent trip, I tried their Bun Bo Hue which is a noodle soup from a different region of Vietnam. This dish features a thicker type of noodles in a spicy broth. The broth usually uses a salty shrimp paste and pork hocks which I did could not find in their version. Theirs leaned more on the sweeter side but I would have appreciated more shrimp flavor. I love me a big ol bowl of soup. And Pho Horns delivers on one of the yummiest bowls of Pho in the area. My favorite is the spicy beef lemongrass pho. I sub the sliced steak for the brisket and get to slurping noodles. The portions are generous and they do have size options on most of the bowls depending on what you order. The staff is friendly, though they do get very easily distracted and will forget about you from time to time (waiting for your check can be a process so make sure you aren't in a rush). I've had other entrees/apps here but the main event is the pho and in my opinion the only thing worth getting when you're there. Prices are fair for the amount you get. When we walked in the waiter put us at the table right in front of the delivery table where multiple people were lingering around. So I asked him to move us and he begrudgingly moved us to a dark corner table. I could have done without the attitude. There was a waitress who was running around near us but didn't bother to say anything to us or bring the menu. Finally I had to ask her for menus. She then brought us everything including some dishes that were speckled with dried on food and mysterious black specks. I didn't want to make a big deal about it so I quietly wiped it off with my napkin. The food came out pretty quickly. We ordered spring rolls which were really good but didn't get any lettuce to wrap it in. Don't all Vietnamese spring rolls come with lettuce? Anyway, we got two spring rolls with the order. I really like this place. I'm from Boston and I think Dorchester has the best Vietnamese and it's hard to compare but I was ecstatic when I found that this place can actually hang with the big dogs. Food taste authentic and consistent which I like. Nothing worse than getting the same but different meal with each order. I recommend the beef and chicken teriyaki and the spring rolls. I also think they're sauces are phenomenal. The only reason they're not getting 5 stars because the place can use some sprucing up, just comparing it to the super clean and ambient places I'm use to in Dorchester. I have to write a new review because I keep having bad experiences. I was the duke of the place for a while and I ate there a lot. It is a unique restaurant and I like the food. The last time I was there, they got my order wrong and overcharged me seven bucks. I had to wait an hour and fifteen minutes for them to fix my order and for the manager to approve my getting seven dollars back they overcharged me. Well, the new order was also wrong and it took them 15 more minutes to fix it. I have gotten mixed up orders, raw chicken, weak soup, super spicy soup... even before covid restrictions. I was told they have 2 cooks. So food is spicy half the time? I go and kick myself later because, years ago, it was much better. Chicken fingers and chicken teriyaki were very soggy. You can tell it was deep friend in a pool of oil. When cutting into the chicken you can see the oil leaking out of it onto the plate so we weren't able to eat it. We also had the beef noodle soup which was okay. Not the best pho I have had but it wasn't awful. Servers were nice but moving very quick and not very communicative or attentive. Been frequenting Pho Horns consistently for the last 7 years. Could eat here every dang day, the Pho is SO good. The staff has been the same over the years and they knew me by name since I visited so often. Recently (in 2021) the entire staff has changed and the service quality has plummeted. If you're picking up an order to go, you have to wait about 10-15 minutes to get your food even if you show up when they tell you to. You stand at the counter while the employee is flustered on the phone taking other orders, then they run away from the counter to hand someone their food, then they run in the back kitchen and ignore you for 5 minutes. If you order a Bubble Tea, I've noticed the one employee who takes all the phone orders/ cashes out the pick-up orders/ hands out the bags of food is ALSO the Bubble Tea maker, so you show up on time to grab your food and then you have to wait even *longer* (another 10-15 minutes) just to get the drink. So now I just don't order the tea. So far the food quality has been the same, though recently the chicken in the Hot n Sour Soup I ordered was slimey. Another order was missing half of what I'd ordered, and another order they gave me the completely wrong broth. The sizes are inconsistent... a Large is the same as an XL order. Pho Horns has the best chicken in the #25 Chicken Pho of any local Pho place I know of in RI and MA, so if they change anything to their pho i'll be sooo sad! I have only done take-out for the last year and havent eaten inside the restaurant. A family member ate inside recently and said the employee serving them was so flustered he could barely even talk to them and take their order. The workers always seem super frazzled even if it's not that busy inside. I hope they can hire more help so they can get back on their A-Game.. but I gotta say I miss the old crew/ employees. All my coworkers and local friends come here, it would be so sad to lose our favorite Pho joint! read more
