7. House Special Pho
Nco Y.

When I pulled up the place looked iffy and couldn't use a paint job, the inside is outdated and a little too dark of a setting. The fresh roll though was made fresh and was still warm when I received them and it was three of them versus all other places with only two. It was surprising good as well and the peanut sauce was great pairing with the fresh rolls. The pho broth was just average wouldn't be a 5 out of 10. But not bad for the price and size.

Dust???

Right off the bat, this place looks terrifying from the outside. The wood is very old, cracking, and twisted and the signs are missing letters. Almost looks abandoned. Then I went inside and it looks even worse. Pieces of the ceiling are missing, others are stained and warped from water damage. The smell of this place is interesting. Can't quite put my finger on it. I assume it's just really old and dusty? Service/hospitality is non existent. But I'd say that's probably a good thing cuz no pho restaurant is ever good if the service is good imo. All in all, this haunted trap house makes decent pho. Idk if I'd come back here unless they updated the place. It seriously needs some TLC.

I got a small pho with tendon and beef. It was not the same as I remember from before as the broth was a bit sweet. It was still a good size!! If you dont like a sweet broth I would recommend a different dish

I've tried their pho, banh mi, and hu tieu so far and my favorites are the pho and banh mi. It's probably some of the better pho I've had in town compared to places like Dalat and V Kitchen, although the broth benefits greatly from a good squeeze of sriracha. I'm intrigued to try some of their Thai menu, and their appetizers next time I'm back in! Service so far has always been quick and kind with payment taken at the front desk. Speaking of payment, prices at Pho House are very reasonable and I love that they aren't too inflated. Ambiance wise this place is very modest both inside and out so feel comfortable dressing as casually as you like!

AMAZING AUTHENTIC PHO with EXCELLENT portions and pricing!! I've tried a ton of pho places and this one was definitely one of the best.

Before COVID, I loved going to Pho House to sit down and enjoy a bowl of pho or the bun dac biet (house special vermicelli) with a side of egg rolls. The egg rolls are a staple for me! Recently I've just been ordering take out to support one of my favorite restaurants in Ypsi during these times of uncertainty. The first time I got takeout I ordered a bowl of the house special with rare beef flank, brisket, tendon, tripe, and meatball. I'm not sure if it was the packaging but the broth had an "off" smell to it so I would definitely recommend just dining in if you want to properly enjoy their pho. However, their banh mi are perfect to order and enjoy for takeout (especially with friends). I highly recommend the grilled pork banh mi. Their proportions are quite impressive as the size was comparable to the length of my forearm! I ordered one and it served as two meals for me. One could easily split a banh mi with a friend and still feel full. Note: unlike their online menu states, they are not doing their buy five get one free deal anymore (possibly due to COVID)

It's great price for the huge portion. They weren't shy with the meat and vegetables which I was really happy about.

A great analogy I learned over the years is never judge a book by its cover. Pho House is a little hole-in-the-wall that is proof of that. The pho here is flavorful with a hearty amount of meat and comes in two sizes: small or large. I usually get a large but the small is still very filling. I've also tried the grilled pork Bahn Mi sandwich. The bread is crisp on the outside and soft inside and came with a generous serving of pork grilled to perfection. On top was pickled carrots, daikon radish, cucumber and cilantro. Pho House is definitely worthy of a visit when the pho cravings hit!

Service was so genuine, friendly, and warm. You seat yourself, look at the menu from the QR code,…read moreand you go up to place your order and pay. Tip isn't being asked. When I asked her how I can leave a tip (because there was no option to), she explained that this is a self-serve place, so tip is not needed. The stores at the airport even asks for tip, so I was pleasantly surprised and appreciated the notion. I ordered their pho dac biet. I was asked if I wanted a lot of noodles or not. I was taken aback by the question, so I told her just the normal amount is fine. She then shares that their portion is not big which is what she asks all her customers when they order pho. The bowl was quite sad looking, lacked green onions, cilantro, meats, and no kidding on the noodles. The broth was clean but lacked that beefy richness. The herbs were fresh and they offered jalapeno slices and a line wedge unlike the place I went to on Sunday. But for the price, I could not expect more.

I can't even begin to explain how long my husband has been trying to get me to try a bahn mi. I…read morefinally succumbed and last Monday he brought me here to finally give it a shot. Well, we are back tonight one week later lol. We get the number 2. No cilantro for me (unfortunately have the soap taste gene) and it's SO GOOD. Everyone is super kind and sandwiches are delicious. I recommend giving it a shot! We got the honeycomb cake but were so full from sandwiches we haven't tried it yet but I'm super excited to.
