I wasn't going to give this place a bad review until they cheated my sister by charging her the wrong price for all 3 items we ordered. My sister didn't pay attention to the prices and they made their customers go straight to the cash register to pay for the bill. Which doesn't leave you time to inspect the bill or question it. We only realized it after we left, when I asked her to see the receipt. That's when we saw the lady charged $15.95 for each item for all 3 items, when all 3 were supposed to be under $14 each. What a scam they pulled! First off, the place looked rundown and old. The kitchen area didn't look clean, it's a little grungy when we were there. The food was only average. But what pissed me off is they charged about $2 more for all of the items we ordered. (It's not a price increase from old menu, I checked their current menu.) This will be our first and last time there. We had warned everyone we know. Watch out for this place people! We regret tipping them. I hate business that cheats their customers. Shady! read more

Tried this place out because our usual Vietnamese place was close. I ordered crispy calamari and it was over $10 and this is all I got. I think it's a little over priced for the amount that you get. Also got tofu pudding thai, it was ok, and wor wonton soup, I don't care for the broth. The lady that took the order was nice. And the place was alright, but the restroom needed to be tended to. After a night of staying up late and drinking, my boyfriend and I wanted to grab some pho and banh mi as recovery food before we head back to the bay. We ordered the spring rolls as an appetizer, my boyfriend ordered the banh mi and I ordered the pho. Skip out on the spring rolls if you come here- they were wrapped very loosely and it was difficult to eat because the fillings kept falling out. My boyfriend was pleasantly surprised by the banh mi as the bread was toasted. He enjoyed his sandwich. My pho was decent and hit the spot although the noodles were slightly mushy. Tried Pho Kietzke out. I got the chicken fried rice, door dash. $15. Wish I would have went to another place. The fried rice lacked any flavor, really had to put soy sauce and siracha. The quantity for the price point is small, I got the container and felt it was a little light. As you can see in the picture. Wasn't even filled up. I was shorted to see they actually served authentic Vietnamese egg rolls. Which means it should come with some vermicelli noodles, served with lettuce and pickled veggies along with fish sauce. Nowadays, a lot of the places just serve the egg rolls alone or with some lettuce that's it. The pho broth was decent. The pho portion was smaller than what I normally accustomed to. I think the Vietnamese lady is the owner. I was trying to order pho ga, but she didn't understand me when I tried to ask if the chicken was free range chicken or not... so we all got the combination pho instead. first time here and there are lots of parking ordered to go lemon grass chicken rice and a pork sandwich or banh mi took about 15-20 minutes and I had to get up to follow up on my order, nobody came to me to inform me that my order was ready the banh mi was disappointing for about $9 because there were no or barely any veggies and it was drenched in hoison sauce and mayonnaise. definitely sad and don't recommend the lemon grass chicken rice was dry, and the carrots didn't taste right as it was old and not fresh. I didn't bother touching that. the chicken was dry and a bit hard. I wouldn't recommend both of these, but do try the pho. the value for the price was not there for those two items. possibly try the pho next time read more

Today was the first time trying out this Pho joint and I was blown away with their food. The pho broth is one of the best that I've had and maybe on my top 3. The meats could've been a bit more fattier and served more (since I did order extra) but maybe the cook forgot. This spot is super close to our house! It was a last minute decision at 8. The service was super fast and the pho was okay. We have been trying new pho spots as I LOVE pho. I got the vegetarian pho with tofu and it was pretty good. Nothing too special but it hit the spot! My husband got the steak pho and he thought the same thing- nothing special but we would go back. The restaurant is a little bit of a slum. The restaurant was heated with space heaters. The bathroom was pretty dirty. The food is super reasonably priced and the location is great! If I could put 0 stars, I would. This is the last time we will ever go to Phở Kietzke (where my family and I had lunch today) in Reno, Nevada. They have deceptive business practices, as the prices on their menu are lower than what they will actually charge you. (My chicken vermicelli bowl was listed at $12.95, the manager charged me $2 more). Even worse, it was the manager who actively and unapologetically overcharged us. He stated that customers understand that the prices they actually charge are higher than what is on the PRINTED MENU. That is WRONG. The price listed on the menu should be the price that they honor, because it gives us, the customer, a chance to decide whether or not we want to order something for that price. Sadly the other pho shop was closed so we tried this one. Disclaimer: 3 stars is for Reno standards. The portions were generous but the taste was just okay. The potstickers tasted like commercial frozen ones, which would have been okay if the oil they were cooked in had been fresher. The egg rolls were crispy but the filling was too mushy to discern any ingredients. Both these and the potstickers were served with lots of fresh lettuce, some rice noodles, and dipping sauce. The pho broth was decently spiced and not too salty, but was not hot enough to cook raw beef, which we avoided since we had read some helpful reviews about this. Some of us had pho with beef balls, since those are usually standard commercial ones; we weren't disappointed with those. The wonton noodle soup was okay, with lots of veggies. The pho with shrimp and veggies came with lots of veg but included broccoli, so the broth had a strong broccoli taste that overwhelmed the pleasant pho spices. There were at least 8 shrimp in the soup, a pleasant surprise. The soups were all served with heaping servings of raw bean sprouts, Thai basil, and lime slices. Although the portions were large, next time we'll try the other pho place. read more

I think I found my little Pho(le) in the wall. This was such a tasty dinner. We had worked all day in my garage and at a shop that's opening in a city near you --- keep your eye out for the Shanty on Hillcrest near Plumb Lane. It's getting dark so early now and the days are going by very fast, we were sloppy, sweaty, and tired and didn't feel like cooking so something hot and salty sounded good. We made a U-turn heading south just after Moana and pulled into Pho Kietzke. Only a couple people inside so we got a table by the window, picked out two beers, and checked the menu. I ordered veggie and shrimp pho with veggie broth and my guy ordered the chicken pho. He made his broth super spicy with ALL the hot sauces and I loaded Sriracha into mine because I love heat. Thought mine was hot, what with my drippy nose --- his was delicious, especially with the flavors of the beef bone broth and oils from the hot sauce. We both drank ours to the very end and enjoyed every slurp, we were so full of sodium and liquid by the end but what a perfect Saturday night meal. This was one for the books. read more

My husband and I decided that the perfect Sunday lunch that day would be a REAL PHO. We had not had a pho here in Reno that was memorable, so obviously it was time to go find it! I found a couple of on Yelp, and decided to try the smaller one. Drove over to Pho Kietzke. Again, it's a Sunday just after 1:30 pm. It's a small place in a corner of a strip mall. Nothing fancy, and in fact, the floor had scatters of veggie bits... and I took it as a sign of an after-Sunday-lunch-battle. It was busy, but not packed. We were able to be seated at a table by the door. I observed... there was a LARGE Vietnamese family having lunch (always a good sign), but they were very quiet. In fact, the place is busy but not unpleasant at all. The service isn't super-friendly, but... pleasant. We both felt good and were getting excited in anticipation. The pho -- I had a shrimp one, husband got one of many beef kinds -- were so good. We were frequent pho-eaters in the Bay Area, but this one was definitely up there. The accompanying veggie plate, the bean sprouts, cilantro, basil, and chili were all fresh and limes were big and juicy. This really says something about the quality, and ... the shrimps were so plump and tender. Noodles were perfect. "The best in town," the lady of the restaurant said to us, and we agree! *Roaches* We came to Pho Kietzke today because our usual place was closed/relocating and this was a two minute drive. Our waitress wasn't exactly the friendliest but they were prompt at seating us, and bringing our menus. We ordered the "egg rolls", pho, and vermicelli bowl. Food came out very quickly as we were one of three tables. I would say the food had decent flavor, not my top, or my bottom choice. The Pho was good but had very little meat and was mostly broth. (We frequent Pho restaurants so we have much to compare it to.) We weren't checked on once we received our food, and had to grab our own boxes and to-go stuff. As we were waiting for the check we noticed a bug crawling on our table, to our surprise it was a small ROACH! My coworker is a a-PHO-cionado (Get it? Like aficionado? Is this thing on?) He loves pho and was wanting to try this place for lunch. I'm always down to try some pho so we found a good day to check out Pho Kietzke. As we entered, we were immediately sat and given menus. The gal who was helping us let us know there were some things on the menu that were not available because it was only her and another person serving/cooking the food for everyone in the restaurant. That was a little it of a bummer, but within covid-times, there are too many jobs and not enough people. We started out with some shrimp spring rolls. They were pretty good. I wouldn't say knock-your-socks-off out of this world amazing, but good. The peanut sauce was nice too. In addition, we ordered some pot stickers. I liked these more than my coworker did. I found them crunchy and flavorful. They didn't come with a dipping sauce, but some soy on a plate did the trick. We each got the Pho Tai Nam Gan for lunch. That is pho with rare beef and well done flank tendon. We didn't find the broth particularly flavorful. Neither was the meat and actually, the meat was just a bit tough. We both doctored up our phos a bit. Overall, not a bad place to get some pho, but not my favorite either. It's not particularly close to me so I can't say I would go back under most circumstances. Second visit to this pho restaurant on kietzke and Moana in reno. We were the first customers so it was nice and quiet. Our order was taken right away and we were served in less than 10 minutes. We had the beef pho and the chicken pho. both were steaming hot and delicious. A huge bowl of pho for $13.90. Lots of garnishes. I ate half of mine and took half home and my partner was able to finish his. They have all the accoutrements you need and the phone is absolutely delicious. Will enjoy it again. read more
