We were hoping for a more authentic pho experience, but unfortunately it did not quite meet our expectations. Living in California, we are accustomed to paying around $16.99 for a bowl of pho, so price was not our main concern. However, we found the portions to be unreasonably smaller than expected for the cost. The spring rolls were also disappointing. They were really thin, you can tell from the wrappers, so loose and all I could taste is the wrapper. The restaurant was very quiet during our visit, with only a few tables occupied around 7:00 PM. My girlfriends and I recently visited Pho Kim Long while in Las Vegas, including one friend who is a local and recommended the restaurant. While the food itself was decent, the service we received was extremely disappointing. From the beginning, our server, Ronald (I believe that was his name), seemed annoyed by basic questions. One of my friends asked whether the chicken pho was served with white meat or dark meat, which is a reasonable question. Instead of answering professionally, he responded with a huff and repeatedly said, "It's chicken." When she tried to explain that some restaurants serve different cuts of chicken or charge extra for certain options, he rolled his eyes and again dismissed the question. Later, we asked for extra jalapeños. Rather than simply bringing them or explaining any policy, he mumbled that jalapeños were already served with the pho. We weren't asking where they were; we were asking for extra. He then walked away without addressing the request. After that, we rarely saw our server. Other staff members brought our food and assisted us. We asked another employee for extra limes, which were brought promptly and without issue. Our appetizer, the chicken lettuce wraps, arrived only about a minute before our entrees, leaving us little opportunity to enjoy it beforehand. Unfortunately, the appetizer itself consisted mostly of green onions and was underwhelming. Throughout the meal, Ronald appeared attentive to other tables, refilling drinks and checking on guests. Our waters were never refilled, and he never properly checked on us. The only time he approached our table, he quickly mumbled, "Is everything okay?" while already walking away, not even pausing for a response. When it came time to pay, other tables received their checks while we were seemingly ignored. In fact, the table next to us had to point out that we had not received ours. Another staff member eventually brought the check. At that point, we requested to speak with a manager. Despite seeing Ronald speaking with the manager, neither of them came to our table. Eventually, a security guard brought our check, which was unusual. We again requested a manager, and one finally came over. We explained our experience, but the response felt dismissive and insincere. We received what seemed like a half-hearted apology and were offered an employee discount. The issue was not the food. The issue was the poor customer service and lack of professionalism. The restaurant was not busy, and there was no apparent reason for the level of inattentiveness and dismissive behavior we experienced. Service is great and quick, lots of people there after 2am but we didn't have to wait for a table for a party of 7. My local suburb pho spot gives more than Pho Kim Long's large in their regular portion. As far as taste, it was just OK. If I could give this restaurant negative stars, I would. We came here on a Friday night, and it was busy. We waited around 15-20 minutes for a table when there were tables open- not sure why people were not seated there but ok. I ended up ordering the veggie pho with vegetarian broth. When I tell you it was SALTY, it tasted like one of those videos where people put a spoon of salt with soup to prank someone. It was just super salty even with trying the noodles itself. It was inedible, unless you want high blood pressure. you couldn't eat it without wanting to throw up. I took one bite and could not bear the taste anymore. I've been coming to Pho Kim Long since I moved to Vegas in 2005 and it's always been my go-to spot whenever I'm craving a bowl of pho-- whether I'm sick or just want some good soup, even during summertime. When I'm hungry enough, I'll order their fried chicken egg rolls on the side. For the combination pho, I like to load it up with bean sprouts, mint, jalapeño, hoisin sauce, hot sauce and I always ask for chili oil to add in too. I've been a super fan of their cá kho tộ and canh chua cá bông lau since 2013. This review is for my September 2025 visit. 5/5 for late hours, though they're no longer open 24/7. 5/5 for quick and sufficient service regardless of how busy or slow. 3/5 for cá kho tộ. They used to be my go-to spot for both cá kho tộ and canh chua cá bông lau. On this visit, the flavor of cá kho tộ was still decent, but the fish hadn't been given enough time to caramelize for that rich, deep kho tộ flavor. Instead of the crunchy, crispy bacon bits that should be in the clay pot, it was filled with chewy pork skins. What really disappointed me was being charged $1.50 for a cup of steamed rice. For Vietnamese people, this is outrageous, cá kho tộ is meant to be eaten with rice, you can't separate them! The cá kho tộ itself was $30.95 for 3 slices of catfish WITHOUT rice. I came in around 4 p.m. on a Friday and didn't have to wait for a table (only 4 tables occupied, including mine). We're from the Bay Area and our standard is pretty high for pho. Unfortunately, my Vietnamese mom didn't enjoy the pho dac biet. I thought it was just okay. Not great. Pho Kim Long is solid, there's a queue out the door and they don't do online waitlists or reservations since they are a more traditional Asian operation. I enjoyed dining here, but man was getting to our table a journey. As a table of 2 among a sea of larger tables (EDC groups I'd imagine), a lot of parties were skipped and we were seated relatively early. There were multiple parties before us that got angry because their names were skipped as the restaurant transitioned from their "morning" clipboard to their "afternoon" clipboard and crossed off everyone who had been waiting since the morning? The waiters claimed that they already called their names multiple times before transitioning to the clipboard, but we're not sure who to believe. We ordered vegetarian spring rolls, crab rangoon. My boyfriend wants me to say that the crab rangoon was bussin. The fried rice lacked flavor and came off very bland, which was surprising given the name and reputation of this place. My roadtripping friend and I have a tradition to try the best pho in wherever area we get hungry after a very successful gamble with a pho restaurant in an empty Fresno strip mall. This one however isn't as memorable. Tables and utensils were clean and the food came out quick even with the few number of staff they had up front. The spring rolls were very solid and appeared freshly made. They didn't have the slightly dried out wrapper that pre-prepped spring rolls would have, to the point they actually stuck onto the plate. The pho was very middle of the road, smaller than what I'm used to in Los Angeles, with less protein, a very standard broth and more expensive but I'm guessing it is not cheap to have such a larger restaurant in such a busy area. The size of the restaurant made it great for large parties, the party in front of us was a table of 10+ which without a reservation they were able to seat right before us. The lack of staff did make it so that it was quite a wait before one was able to come by to handle our bill, (to which, be prepared to do math because the default tip options were 20/25/30%.) read more
