This is my usual go-to for Pho, but for whatever reason the food today was slightly off. It wasn't bad, but there was a different taste to it. Let me clarify that the broth of the pho was fine. I mean to say that the bun, my go to dish, wasn't as enjoyable as usual...it was slightly a tad off. The service was good, the staff were helpful, the bathroom was clean. Excellent Pho! I had the P7 Chicken Pho and tried the Tofu Pho, both were amazing. I ordered a spring roll with peanut sauce and it was absolutely delicious. I have had Pho before and it's usually salty, this one was not, which is nice. Definitely will come back when visiting San Antonio again. read more

Update: Dropped in today for a Bahn Mi and I was very disappointed. I ordered a Beef Bahn Mi with a Thai Tea. Thai Tea was great my sandwich was lacking. If it's going to be named 'Beef' it should have 'Beef' there were two mediocre strips of very salty beef . The bread was very hard (almost stale-like), there were lots of jalapeños w/seeds to boot, carrots sprinkled gingerly and some wilted cilantro. Not a very appetizing nor tasty sandwich. Just disappointed. My mantra is...'If you wouldn't eat it, please don't serve it!' read more

I just wanted to fulfill my mom's wishes to try a Vietnamese restaurant in Texas since we are visiting from California for several days, and boy! What a complete disappointment. I ordered the pho đặc biệt, and it looks like beef balls noodles... lacks ingredients of tripes and others. When the bowl came out, my mom and I were perplexed if they got the wrong order... but didn't. We had to ask the host to confirm. She said the ingredients were at the bottom... but it was a total lies. The noodles were also clumped together. That took me a few minutes to separate them. Then my brother broken rice came out, and I thought it looked just wrong. It looks just like a kid-size portion that's overpriced. My husband's vermicelli noodle also looks sad, and he commented that the sauce is too salty and there are not enough veggies. The only thing that is probably worthy here is their egg rolls. It tastes pretty good, has a crunchy texture, and is filled with ingredients. I do not recommend this place if you are looking for Vietnamese cravings. Honestly, I probably wouldn't even recommend trying any pho restaurants in San Antonio if this is what the standard looks like. read more

We stopped in because this was the only place serving bubble tea within a 15 mile radius. We ordered Thai tea and boba. Both drinks were good, not great. But they totaled $9 so it was a win. Forgot to take a pic. Small location, only 1 worker at the time. Place was empty though so they may have just opened. From what I can tell, it was clean. I feel like when a place claims "the best" in something, you have to be very careful and sometimes may just want to avoid it in general. I wish I did because the soup was not flavorful. The broth was so bland that I just ate the noodle and what little meat is in the soup. I came in after the winter storm so there were no vegetables to go with the noodle soup. I can understand that but I feel like it's better to not serve than to serve without vegetables. I finished eating the soup in about 5 minutes because it has very little noodle and meat. Fact: Not all Pho restaurants are created equal. Unfortunately, we were reminded of that today when we had lunch at Pho Plus. I was excited to try this hole in the wall because that's usually how you discover hidden gems! This was not the case today. My wife is Vietnamese-American and we are Pho-natics so please let me explain. 1) My first impression was it was bigger inside than it appeared from the outside. But that pro was quickly canceled out by the smell of dirty mop water from their floor. 2) Don't drink their water. It's from the tap and probably tastes like what I imagine what their mop water would taste like. Maybe ask them for bottled water should you go. 3) There was little we could do to improve their broth's taste. It was too sweet and salty and tasted as if it were missing other seasonings. It just didn't taste right. 4) Ready for a big one? They tried to feed us a strip of plastic which was hidden in one of their egg rolls. Okay so I'm going to assume they didn't do that intentionally but it was in there. Seriously. Please reference our pics. 5) Their spring rolls have bean sprouts which is odd. You also have to request pork to be included along with the shrimp because at their location, we were told they didn't typically do both. Condescendingly, might I add. That deserves its own number in and of itself. 6) No tripe available for Pho which is usually a staple for a pho restaurant. Even Americanized and quasi-authentic pho joints have this option. 7) Jalapeños and basil weren't fresh. We could tell the jalapeños were cut a day or so ago since their edges were already dried out. Perhaps the only reason this place has any patrons is because of its close proximity to Fort Sam Houston and the lack of other pho places in the vicinity. As I've said before, I don't like to give bad reviews to small businesses, but I had to call this place out. If you are accustomed to good Vietnamese food do not come here. read more

I am going around San Antonio trying & seeking out the best Pho in town. Well, this places Pho broth was lacking flavor. I've never added salt & pepper to my Pho, just for a bit of flavor. I also added more of the Hoisin & Sriracha sauces than I normally do. One of the things I love about Pho are the spices used to make it. I couldn't taste any in theirs. Now, it was good, just not great. Maybe it was an off day. Plus, I am sick. So, I'll give them another try. The only thing frustrating is in the eight other times I've gone by this location is they were always closed. So, I'll have to plan another visit. The spring rolls come with an option of fried, or rice paper, I chose to have them fried this time. They were good & fresh. I'll come back &'update after I've tried their pho again - if deserved. When I first parked and saw the building I thought it was going to be an "idk about this" experience. However, this place is so delicious! As I walked in I was greeted in a kindly, welcoming manner. The place was clean. I ordered spring rolls and pho with brisket and an iced tea. and it was probably the best I've ever had. Even the tea was the best in Texas! I'm an Asian person and this is the worst pho I've ever had. I got a rare brisket pho and the beef was extremely over cooked( attached picture) even the basil and sprouts were very old. I asked politely if the owner could remake one for me but she was unconcerned of the quality. She rolled her eyes at me, started speaking a different language and was being rude. I also got boba tea and the boba was very old. First time in this place. Customer service is average and maybe below the standard to some folks since they don't greet you. I am used to it and just grabbed a menu and find a seat. The place is not big and the parking is ok during off hours. The inside is clean. I usually order PHO in Vietnamese restaurant just to test the baseline level. I ordered P1, the veg part is fresh but the meat, ie the brisket and meatball, is not so impressive. In general the taste is acceptable for Pho but certainly not amazing at all. Didn't have the tendon included in the mix for a $8.5 Pho bowl. I wasn't expecting too much anyway. The amount is enough for me as of now since I have been controlling my intake amount for a year. I personal will not try other dishes and move on to the next Pho place. read more

Went for the first time today and had an overall good experience. My boyfriend and I were greeted right when we walked in by two of the staff. They didn't smile and looked a little stressed, but they were kind and helpful. They seated us at a nice, clean table and took our drink orders. My boyfriend ordered the Vermicelli with veggies and tofu, I got the vegetarian pho. It probably took about 10 min tops to get our food out. It tasted great! The meals were served nicely and were hot and fresh. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars I stead of 5 is because the Pho bowl was very skinny on vegetables. It was mostly the broth and noodles. We live in Houston close to Chinatown where there are plenty of pho restaurants so our expectations for good Viet food is a bit high. This was the only pho restaurant that was open and my in laws were pretty adamant of wanting Viet food so we decided to venture out here. I ordered the grilled chicken rice plate and it was ok. Most of the chicken was burnt and inedible. They suggested bun bo hue since it was their specialty for the day but my mother in law thought that it wasn't that great. Small portion, rice was not fresh, grilled pork was dry and bitter. Fish sauce (a key in a Vietnamese's rice plate) was quite plain and had not much flavor. The Pho was a bit better but mostly broth and little noodles. Wont recommend it if you want some good Vietnamese food. read more

Heard many good things about this spot at work so I had to try this place out. It's in a shopping strip with limited parking so at lunch time it may get packed. It's a cozy place with limited seating. They also sell bubble tea here. The service here was pretty quick. As soon as we ordered, in about 5 minutes food was served. My friend and I ordered the Dac biet or the specialty pho that has a combination of meats. The portion size is pretty decent and they put plenty of meats. They didn't really put any of the tendons though. That's one of my favorite parts. The soup was pretty good and they gave us fresh veggies to put in our soup. One thing that was weird, when you order water they give you water bottles. Other drinks come in regular drinking cups. Next time I need to check if they charged me for that water bottle.
