Pho Tai Nam and Vietnamese Coffee
    Daniel L.

Craving some pho, but don't wanna drive too far? Well, you came to the right place. This facility has quality, hearty Pho along with their quick and friendly service. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Restaurant was a simple spacious, clean environment where you can just enjoy their food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I opted for the Pho Tai Nam and Vietnamese Coffee. While, my sister ordered their Pho Tai. You can clearly tell that their Pho is made with real bone broth and not some watered down, soy sauce base. Pretty good quality food here. This was actually my third or fourth frequenting this restaurant and will continue to do so whenever I don't feel like driving too far. Recommend to anyone craving for some soul-warming food.

Was looking for a pho place in Hacienda Heights that wasn't BMC Pho. Pho Van seemed promising on Yelp and decided to give them a try. Right off the bat, they were located in a pretty convenient lot with easy parking. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We got seated and were handed pretty nice menus. They weren't sticky and disgusting feeling (yet?) and you can tell they were taken care of.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered a pho tai and would say I was pleasantly surprised by how much noodles and meat you get. Their portions seemed really fair for the price. Quality wasn't bad either. The pho overall wasnt super crazy good but exactly what you expect from a mom and pop pho spot. In a really good way you know? No gimmick and just solid pho. Really hoping locals support this business and it stays open as we need some good pho options in Hacienda!

Immediately accessible spot with generous portions and amazing flavor. The noodles have the perfect texture, and the broth is rich and satisfying. Added to my go-to place.

Made a solo trip for dinner right after mass. You are greeted as soon as you walk in. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is small but cozy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had #38, filet mignon with rice. I saw the picture on the outside of the establishment and it did not disappoint. Food full of flavor, meat was very tender and juicy. I would definitely come back.

If you're looking for pho in and around Hacienda Heights and Rowland Heights specifically, there aren't many options. Pho Van on Colima and Hacienda Heights Blvd is a good option. I saw and felt the mom and pop shop vibe when I saw an older man cutting vegetables on one of the dining tables out in the open, and a teenage looking girl taking orders and manning the cashier. I got bun bo hue. It was just okay. It'll suffice if you can't get yourself to Vietnamese spots in OC or SG/Rosemead/El Monte area.

I saw Pho Van driving around Hacienda Heights and decided to stop in to try their Bún Heo Nuóng #49, a bowl of BBQ Beef, Fried Pork Sausage, and Egg Rolls on a bed of rice noodle vermicelli with cucumbers, lettuce, bean sprouts, and fish sauce on the side. The beef was bussin, seasoned just right, and the egg rolls crisp. It hit the spot! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Pho Van is clean[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], the service is quick, and the food is delicious. I'll definitely be back!

Good meal. The restaurant is clean and pretty. I ordered pho with oxtail. The oxtail was very tender but a little bland. The broth was delicious though. I loved that they give lots of basil. Usually you get a couple stems, but this was generous. I ordered something with bean curd skins. I wanted to try something totally new, and I liked it a lot. It was crunchy and soft. It was delicious with the dip it comes with. I also ordered a lemon soda? I can't remember the name. That was ... interesting. I did not love it but I did finish it throughout the rest of the day. It was very concentrated and the flavors confused me. It was tart, salty and sweet. Imagine adding salt into lemonade.

"Hole in the wall pho shop" Overall experience, staff was friendly and food was great! We ordered: -spring rolls (they were good, I'd skip them next time but they were good) - both of the Pho was ordered was great + the broth was very tasty! Add Siratcha or chilis to your broth for that perfect kick! We will be returning, as we are local to the area!

Good hole in the wall type pho restaurant. There was a funky smell walking in but after being there for a bit you can no longer smell it. There was no line or wait period do be seated. We we told we're to sit and the server took our order. The food arrived in a timely manner. Pho broth was delicious in my opinion. I had #16 and my date #31. The coconut drink was delish and fresh for this hot summer day. Overall it was a good dine-in experience. I would come back if I'm in the area.

At first, I was a little skeptical because the inside was quite dark, and the ambiance wasn't really what I preferred. But since I was already there, I decided to give it a try. I ordered a soup-based rice noodle dish that day. It was okay, the texture was more like regular noodles and not quite like the Southeast Asian-style thin rice noodles, I was familiar with. Then last Sunday, with the weather being so hot, I started thinking maybe their dry rice noodle would be a better choice. I looked through the menu, but some of the ingredient combinations were unfamiliar to me, so I decided to play it safe and ordered the crispy pork and beef dry rice noodle. It turned out to be a good choice. The portion was generous, a big bowl that even came with two small quail eggs. And a small bowl of chicken broth on the side. $12.99 When my order was ready, I picked it up and was guided to the sauce bar, where I could customize the flavor myself with hot sauce, soy sauce, chopped green onions, cilantro, and even dry peanuts ... etc. The DIY sauce bar was a fun touch, and the dry rice noodle gave me a completely different experience from my first visit. In the end, I enjoyed my lunch and took some leftovers home.

It offers a generous portion of tender, juicy meat and springy, fresh noodles. "DELICIOUS!!" I arrived at No. 1 Noodle House (Rowland Heights) on Sunday (around 11AM). Parking is easy. The lot is big with many spots. Staff is very friendly and welcoming, but Staff spoke limited English. Fortunately, pointing at the menu was clear enough. The food took eight minutes and nine seconds. Fast time! As mentioned, the Beef Rib Noodle Soup ($16.50 - Mild) is wonderful! It arrived picturesque and delicious!! However, despite ordering "mild," the food has a very strong heat; I sweat nonstop as I ate. The broth is rich, savory, and spicy. The meat is tender, flavorful, and falls off the bone. And the noodles are hefty, soft, and springy. It's a wonderful, euphoric combination of flavors and textures. Concerning ambiance, No. 1 Noodle House (Rowland Heights) is surprisingly spacious with its tall ceiling and relatively clean surroundings. However, its walls and furniture look worn down with time. Some seats even had torn holes. Unfortunately, the music uses radio with constant commercials playing in the background. Fortunately, there's a gender neutral restroom in the back. Overall, I found culinary magic at No. 1 Noodle House (Rowland Heights). The food is fresh, generously portioned, and well-prepared. I left full with a bright smile. If you enjoy spicy beef noodle soup, this is a must-try! 5 out of 5!! "GO!!"

Overall, the food was excellent, even my Asian parents, who can be pretty critical when it comes to Chinese food, gave most dishes high marks. The crispy noodles had great texture, the West Lake beef soup was comforting and flavorful, and the eggplant portions were generous. The service was what I'd describe as classic Chinese restaurant service. The waitress came across as a little rushed and occasionally seemed slightly annoyed, but she was still attentive and accommodated everything we asked for without any issues. Our food came out at a reasonable pace, and we never felt forgotten or had to chase anyone down. The atmosphere had its own unique charm. The restaurant was playing early-2000s hip-hop while a Chinese gangster drama played on the TV, which made for an unexpectedly entertaining backdrop. The restroom was also clean, which is always appreciated. My only real criticism is the sweet and sour pork. The batter itself was crispy and well executed, but too many of the pieces were mostly breading wrapped around bone with very little meat. It was the one dish I probably wouldn't order again. Even with that one miss, everything else was strong enough that we left very satisfied.

The beef brisket was tender and the flavor was there but it was slightly tangy/sour-- on the border of doing bad? I've never had this dish taste sour. The typhoon ribs were filled with fried garlic and the ribs came out hot and crispy! We were 1/3 parties so I'm not sure if it changes when it gets busy. There's plenty of parking.

In it's current state, this place is definitely not recommended. Service was friendly, however, the servers all acted like it was their first day on the job. The person taking our order seemed unfamiliar with the menu and it seemed no one was sure who's job it was to do what. Additionally, they forgot to bring one of our items, and mislead us on what was actually included in one of the items. We ordered the tantan ramen, omelet curry, and fried tofu. All very mediocre and nowhere near what should be served at a restaurant. I've included pictures which look as it tastes. Sadly, to pile on to all of that, the restaurant was old and dirty with one mini-split AC for the whole place. Specifically, there were dirty/stained napkins (see picture), sticky tables, and flies everywhere. There was also an instance where another customer's soda can exploded upon opening it because the soda can was overheated from perhaps leaving the soda cans out in a hot area which in itself wouldn't be up to the standards of any decent restaurant. Overall, just a rough time at this restaurant. Again, we do not recommend this place.
