Pho Tai Nam and Vietnamese Coffee
    Daniel L.

Craving some pho, but don't wanna drive too far? Well, you came to the right place. This facility has quality, hearty Pho along with their quick and friendly service. Restaurant was a simple spacious, clean environment where you can just enjoy their food. I opted for the Pho Tai Nam and Vietnamese Coffee. While, my sister ordered their Pho Tai. You can clearly tell that their Pho is made with real bone broth and not some watered down, soy sauce base. Pretty good quality food here. This was actually my third or fourth frequenting this restaurant and will continue to do so whenever I don't feel like driving too far. Recommend to anyone craving for some soul-warming food.

Was looking for a pho place in Hacienda Heights that wasn't BMC Pho. Pho Van seemed promising on Yelp and decided to give them a try. Right off the bat, they were located in a pretty convenient lot with easy parking. We got seated and were handed pretty nice menus. They weren't sticky and disgusting feeling (yet?) and you can tell they were taken care of. I ordered a pho tai and would say I was pleasantly surprised by how much noodles and meat you get. Their portions seemed really fair for the price. Quality wasn't bad either. The pho overall wasnt super crazy good but exactly what you expect from a mom and pop pho spot. In a really good way you know? No gimmick and just solid pho. Really hoping locals support this business and it stays open as we need some good pho options in Hacienda!

Immediately accessible spot with generous portions and amazing flavor. The noodles have the perfect texture, and the broth is rich and satisfying. Added to my go-to place.

Made a solo trip for dinner right after mass. You are greeted as soon as you walk in. The restaurant is small but cozy. I had #38, filet mignon with rice. I saw the picture on the outside of the establishment and it did not disappoint. Food full of flavor, meat was very tender and juicy. I would definitely come back.

If you're looking for pho in and around Hacienda Heights and Rowland Heights specifically, there aren't many options. Pho Van on Colima and Hacienda Heights Blvd is a good option. I saw and felt the mom and pop shop vibe when I saw an older man cutting vegetables on one of the dining tables out in the open, and a teenage looking girl taking orders and manning the cashier. I got bun bo hue. It was just okay. It'll suffice if you can't get yourself to Vietnamese spots in OC or SG/Rosemead/El Monte area.

I saw Pho Van driving around Hacienda Heights and decided to stop in to try their Bún Heo Nuóng #49, a bowl of BBQ Beef, Fried Pork Sausage, and Egg Rolls on a bed of rice noodle vermicelli with cucumbers, lettuce, bean sprouts, and fish sauce on the side. The beef was bussin, seasoned just right, and the egg rolls crisp. It hit the spot! Pho Van is clean, the service is quick, and the food is delicious. I'll definitely be back!

Good meal. The restaurant is clean and pretty. I ordered pho with oxtail. The oxtail was very tender but a little bland. The broth was delicious though. I loved that they give lots of basil. Usually you get a couple stems, but this was generous. I ordered something with bean curd skins. I wanted to try something totally new, and I liked it a lot. It was crunchy and soft. It was delicious with the dip it comes with. I also ordered a lemon soda? I can't remember the name. That was ... interesting. I did not love it but I did finish it throughout the rest of the day. It was very concentrated and the flavors confused me. It was tart, salty and sweet. Imagine adding salt into lemonade.

"Hole in the wall pho shop" Overall experience, staff was friendly and food was great! We ordered: -spring rolls (they were good, I'd skip them next time but they were good) - both of the Pho was ordered was great + the broth was very tasty! Add Siratcha or chilis to your broth for that perfect kick! We will be returning, as we are local to the area!

Good hole in the wall type pho restaurant. There was a funky smell walking in but after being there for a bit you can no longer smell it. There was no line or wait period do be seated. We we told we're to sit and the server took our order. The food arrived in a timely manner. Pho broth was delicious in my opinion. I had #16 and my date #31. The coconut drink was delish and fresh for this hot summer day. Overall it was a good dine-in experience. I would come back if I'm in the area.

The menu has pictures and describes what is included with each noodle dish. The signature noodles I ordered came with crispy pork and beef, and both were delicious. Anyway, if you see Zhu Chicken, you are at the right restaurant! I got a crispy pork rice noodle with pickled bamboo and possibly one other meat. I can't recall. The crispy pork is a must. It's so fatty, but paired with a pickled veggie and that super spicy green sauce from the sauce bar, it was amazing. They give you a vinegar sauce, and you can add as much garlic, cilantro, and hot sauce as you want from the hot sauce bar. I went for a briney, spicy flavor with a ton of garlic and cilantro, and the resulting combination is something I still think about. Rice noodles were nothing special imo. They were soft and slippery, but didn't really soak up the sauce. You just have to get a perfect bite (or in my case gobble) that has all the layers of warm soft noodle, fatty rich meat, and spicy/sour notes from the sauces. I can't really compare this dish to anything, so I highly recommend coming here if you want something unique and bursting with flavor.

There are only a handful of tables as the dining room isn't very big. There was a steady stream of customers for dine in and take out. This place was listed as serving Taiwanese food, but I feel like it serves more Chinese dishes than Taiwanese. They did have beef noodle soup with lean meat, tendon or lean meat & tendon. It was good but the broth was not as deeply unctuous as the Taiwan versions. I am Taiwanese and my relatives were visiting from Washington and Alabama, so I was hoping they had more Taiwanese dishes like oyster pancake, rice meat balls, squid vermicelli soup, gua boas, etc. The waitress and cooks were from China and not Taiwan. Maybe the original owners were Taiwanese...idk. The menu is extensive for such a small mom & pop type restaurant and had nice photos of some of the dishes. The menu was a lot fancier than the restaurant! We ordered beef noodle soup, bitter melon, sautéed intestines, string beans and it all tasted delicious. There was some picked mustard greens on the table for the beef noodle soup and it was the perfect add-on! We were all very satisfied.

It offers a generous portion of tender, juicy meat and springy, fresh noodles. "DELICIOUS!!" I arrived at No. 1 Noodle House (Rowland Heights) on Sunday (around 11AM). Parking is easy. The lot is big with many spots. Staff is very friendly and welcoming, but Staff spoke limited English. Fortunately, pointing at the menu was clear enough. The food took eight minutes and nine seconds. Fast time! As mentioned, the Beef Rib Noodle Soup ($16.50 - Mild) is wonderful! It arrived picturesque and delicious!! However, despite ordering "mild," the food has a very strong heat; I sweat nonstop as I ate. The broth is rich, savory, and spicy. The meat is tender, flavorful, and falls off the bone. And the noodles are hefty, soft, and springy. It's a wonderful, euphoric combination of flavors and textures. Concerning ambiance, No. 1 Noodle House (Rowland Heights) is surprisingly spacious with its tall ceiling and relatively clean surroundings. However, its walls and furniture look worn down with time. Some seats even had torn holes. Unfortunately, the music uses radio with constant commercials playing in the background. Fortunately, there's a gender neutral restroom in the back. Overall, I found culinary magic at No. 1 Noodle House (Rowland Heights). The food is fresh, generously portioned, and well-prepared. I left full with a bright smile.
