Just had lunch at Pho Vietnam again today because I was in the area, wow, it's so good. Their food quality and portions are great. Just like 20 years ago when they catered our wedding rehearsals. So good. I ordered #45 this time to try something new, it was so good. The beef is tender, the vegetables not over cooked and it's fresh not like other places that vegetables are over cooked. We heard that the pork bahn mi was good. So we went in and ordered a shredded pork, and a pork meatball bahn mi. Both were amazing! So full of flavor. They did not disappoint. We also ordered fresh Saigon spring rolls as an appetiser. They were okay. They tasted good, and the sauce was good, but the lettuce in them was yellow (a turn off for me). The tea and the banana desert (which I really enjoyed) were bonuses. We will definitely go back for the bahn mi, but will skip the spring rolls. read more

Stopped in this cute place on our way to Hot Springs. It's true what other say that you might miss it if you're not looking for it. We loved the humble ambiance and all the plants inside. The food was great. The shrimp egg rolls were the star of the show, and the dipping sauce was to die for. My chicken pho was peppery and generous and my BF got what can only be described as a breakfast banh mi. Our waiter was kind and attentive. If we lived in Fort Smith we'd eat here often. We greatly appreciate seeing several vegan options on the menu. Each plate was arranged artfully, not just spooned on. Seasonings were with a light touch - at least on our choices: veg spring rolls, vegan pho and caramelized tofu in braised tomatoes - and that too is appreciated. House-made hoisin sauce and hot pepper paste and also Huy Fong (rooster) Sriracha Sauce are on the tables to pump up the spice. Complimentary green tea with the menus then for dessert banana slices in syrup without prompting is a great, old-fashioned touch. Note that the cafe's dining room is sufficient, a former gas station that is more merely "converted" than "renovated" to its current function, if you get my drift. read more

The restaurant was bought buy a couple and they've been running it for years. The decorations are something of what I'd imagine my grandparents decorating as and give a nostalgic feel. The Boba was super delicious as we got Honeydew, Mocha, and Strawberry. We also ordered several appetizers that included egg rolls and dumplings, and they served this complimentary tea that kept us warm in this chilly weather! I had the Seafood Sandwich and it was absolutely great. Any place that can take a variety of one set of food and combine it (successfully) is a prize in my book. The service was great, food was fantastic, and this will always be a gem my friends and I will love to stop and eat at whenever in town in my book. Hopefully it's in yours too! read more

I have been going to Pho Vietnam every time I come home to visit my parents for about 12 years.. the past few times, I am sad to say, have not been consistent in quality. This last time I ordered the #5 Pho with Vegan broth, veggies are scarce and noodles have changed. Please bring back the broccoli, carrots, and mushrooms (at the least). Also, I ordered the vegetarian egg rolls and those have changed as well. While there are some misses here (very bland spring rolls, and the beef salad was not very flavorful, nor spicy) this place has the BEST bbq pork banh mi. Less than $4 and juicy, juicy, juicy! The three beautifully prepared and delicious dishes we had were: #136 Saigon Style Spring rolls, #60 Bun Bi and #64 Bun Bo Hue. I have tried a many Vietnamese restaurants and dishes and two things always turned me off the food compared to other Asian cuisine, one it is usually bland and two, I can't stand the taste of fish sauce. Well this restaurant converted me. If you try the Bun Bo Hue you will throw rocks at that Pho stuff. The Bun Bo Hue is over the top flavorful and has a pleasant amount of heat. If you add the accompanying herbs, lime, jalapenos and it goes to astonishingly good! The Saigon Style Spring rolls were different and better than any I have ever had, especially with the dipping sauce. My wife had the Bun Bi her favorite dish (that she always orders, so she has plenty of others to compare against). Her opinion was, it the best she has ever had! The menu is huge and includes Banh Mi! Ok, so here is what you have to get past to eat here. The restaurant is in a dilapidated old former gas station. It looks pretty rough on the outside and it is not too much better on the inside. The service is a little slow. It is a mom and pop run place. And finally they only take CASH! The owners work to keep it clean. If you are looking for ambiance or a bright shiny chain restaurant experience you will be disappointed. It's been interesting reading all the reviews-apparently people either love it or are sketched out by it and pissed about how long the service takes. I'm in love with it. Sure, it smells a wee bit funky and the decor is over the top, but it's clearly a mom and pop place. The service was good and the food is AWESOME. Plus they give you dessert. I recently started working in FSM and multiple people recommended this place to me. It was a surprise when Apple Maps told me to pull into a run down gas station turned restaurant. Luckily I had cash on me, as the first thing I noticed was the door sign saying cash only. If I wasn't the foodie and adventurer I am, I would not have come in - it appears from the outside to be food poisoning waiting to happen. That said, the inside is about the same. There's a deli counter section holding lettuce and other things. There's a drink refrigerator like you'd see in a gas station. There are plants... lots of plants. The decor in here. Man, I don't even know how to describe it. I sat at the booth with the mounted deer head. You take your own seat (I awkwardly waited until the old man told me I could sit anywhere). The old man (after reading reviews it's husband and wife ran and this is true) brought me tea without asking and I asked for water. The menu is a large and overwhelming if you don't know what you're ordering. It's in English, there's just a lot. I got dumplings as an app and the combination pho #2. The dumplings were nice. Four little purses filled with some kind of meat. The pho was beautiful on presentation. The broth flavor was very good although I'll say a bit oily. I would order it again but I wouldn't say it's the "best pho ever". In FSM, you take what you can get. Both came out quickly. With the food, old man also brought a little bowl of bananas in some sort of sauce. They were surprisingly good. So I like Vietnamese food a lot. Not that I'm an expert on Vietnam and its cuisine or anything, but I have tried a fair number of places around the US. I'm not going to say that this place has the best Vietnamese food I've ever tasted, I simply don't know that to be true, but it is very good. However, I will say that this is my favorite restaurant...anywhere. I don't live in Fort Smith, but I make an effort to eat here on the few occasions I do make it to town each year. For those who don't know, Fort Smith is home to many refugees from the Vietnam war, and so has a thriving community and many restaurants to choose from, but this one takes the cake. Housed in an old gas station you wouldn't expect much, but that simply sets the stage for the beginning of everything that is right with this restaurant. It is the opposite of the chain, the incorporated, the mundane. Walk in and seat yourself at the many tables decorated with, not an identical, but a different, tenderly cared for plant place at each. I have never had to wait for a seat, but I have never been the only patron either, and I do eat during "off hours". You will find the appropriate Siracha, Hoisin, and chili paste at your table. You will likely be greeted by an older server shortly. The restaurant is decorated with many plants and other curios typical in Asian establishments. As small as the building is, it is surprising that they have room for the kitchen and the outstanding abundance of dishes that come out of it; the menu is packed! From pho to quail, no matter what you order you can expect the full package experience. You are CARED FOR at this restaurant and will likely be served hot green tea and some sort of desert along with your meal without asking for it. You are stepping into another world inside this restaurant, and It's wonderful. FYI, I have never seen restrooms, and they take only cash. I don't think I've ever paid more than $10 for a meal (I'm sure some are tho), so you won't need a credit card. read more

Loved this place as soon as I walked in the door! Talk about character. Those who complain about it being weird or dirty: get a life.
