Though well sign posted in the theatre and with references that are easy to trace on the internet, the Phoenix Gallery isn't as grand as it seems.
The gallery can be found in a kind of antechamber between Doors F and G of the Upper Circle in the Grand Opera House.
It's not much of a space and the low formika topped tables with four hard chairs round each are reminscent of a primary school classroom
However, any effort to support another outlet for artists work is a good thing and the Opera House are making the most of their assets by doing so.
The afternoon is always an odd time in a theatre for a visitor, unless there is a matinee.
No doubt the gallery warms up and comes alive in the evenings when there's a show in progress and lots of people about. read more
