REVISED: My company does NOT solicit or do any telemarketing for business unlike Phoenix publications and Advertising Inc. This is how we came to meet Ms. Jacobs. She called our company and tried to sell us advertising and proceeded to insult my employee. When I tried to return her call she then cursed at me and hung up. I did try to call back and was met with more vulgarity by Ms. Jacobs. Truly a wicked woman please this is no one to do serious business with. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They have rude salespeople who are racists. They are a possible scam. Contacted our office and proceeded to insult my employee when asked to email the information. I have never had a business that when I returned a phone call that the phone was answered "what can I do for you now asshole?" And funny enough when I came on to yelp to write this review therewere two other reviews exactly like this one. seems like this company has an issue with communications and how to speak to their potential customers.. at first I thought I had the wrong number so I hung up and went to go dial again and the number called me and left me a voicemail talking about how she gave my number to the police. I guess they need to realize that when people call them it's not always the people they just pissed off.. good luck Update: now this woman is lying through her teeth bc she posted on my review about some business and their friends harassing her.. I find that to be false just bc of what I have witnessed and plus if I called from a blocked number she wouldn't be allowed to *69 it.. again don't do business with this lady, I'm now very glad I went elsewhere.. ps. While it's true that Kathy Jacobs tried to call at my business and email me, I refused to talk to her now and did tell her by email that if she continues to try to contact me, I will have a restraining order issued. Why? These were the last things she emailed me on 3/1/19: "You're a Dumbass!" When I asked her for the dates she ran my ads, she replied, "Look at the fucking magazines your were mailed!" "Keep it up, Dickweed!" Is this any way to talk to your customers? Everything else in her response to my 1 star review was a lie: 1) Contrary to what she said, I am the co-owner of my salon 50/50. (See Corporate Listings) She said I don't own it. 2) Just because we did business over a year ago doesn't forgive her for her actions. 3) She doesn't even know my name. It's not Stein. It's Stern. 4) I hardly needed her her to dictate what to put in my ads even though she thinks she's an expert. Believe me, she's not! 5) As the former owner and Publisher of The Detroit Daily Press, The New York Daily Press, The Minneapolis Daily Press, The St. Louis Daily Press, The South Florida Review and the current Publisher of CONSUMER BEWARE!, A syndicated column distributed to 800+ newspapers throughout the U.S. with 40 million readers, I think I know more than she ever will. 6) Her publication does not pull. Why? I ran a test on several addresses in the area where she claimed she delivers and NONE of her magazines were delivered to those addresses, including my own. What does that tell you? 7) Knowing my publishing history, she tried to sell me her business claiming that her franchise people don't know what they're doing and that she can't get along with them. Big Surprise! I met with her and after reviewing the business and the finances, I wouldn't touch this business with a 10 foot pole. When I told her this, I became the enemy. She asked if there was anyone else who might be interested and I laughed. I wouldn't wish her on anyone! 8) In her response, she claimed that her charging my credit card after she was already paid in full wasn't illegal. I filed a police report (#18-191529) and they didn't agree with her. They said they would forward it to the State Attorney. 9) In her response, she also says that I must be bored. "A whackadoodle!", she says. Not hardly. There is a a 432 page book that was recently released entitle "Making His Mark". It's a book about my life and my many businesses. I'm very proud of it. It was written by two of my former very credible newspaper editors. I'm hardly bored or a "whackadoodle". But guess who is. In closing, I have to say that in the 75 years I've been on this earth, I've never met a nastier foul-mouthed person. So do yourself a big favor if you have a business. I have used Phoenix Publications and all I can say they have always been very attentive and straight forward with me, they have follow through with everything they promised, accommodating all changes needed in a timely manner. Before I decided to put an ad with them, I asked for references, which they were prompt to give, I even met with one of their advertisers who has been using their services for years. I've used Phoenix Publications ever since I opened my business 4 years ago , and I couldnt be more satisfied with the results. The graphics and layout of the ads are some of the best that i've seen, and i trust them with all my marketing needs. The ads have always turned out tasteful, classy, and have drawn quality customers to my store. The magazines have always been mailed out as promised. I just had a meeting with the rudest salesperson I have ever met. Her name is Kathy Jacobs and she could not be worse. When I spoke to her on the phone I explained we are very focused on using digital media but she asked would I take the time to see her. I am always honest with every salesperson because I do not want to waste their time but I said I would meet with her. Just like when anyone takes the time to walk into our door, I will always meet with them, I know how hard it is to do that. I am always candid about whether I am a good candidate for what they are offering. When she came in and started showing me her magazines she tried to bash Groupon right off the bat without asking why I liked using them. When I explained what I was looking for she literally stormed out, told me I wasted her time (she wasted mine) and slammed the door leaving. This publication should really consider who they have working for them. Kathy Jacobs, a very rude and pushy woman. If you tell her you're not interested she'll give you a horrible attitude, start bashing every other publication and tell you that your choices are wrong for your business and that you will not do well if your don't choose her company. Oh and let's not forget how she hangs up on you mid-sentence if you nicely tell her 'no, thank you'. So childish. Lets try and be somewhat of a professional. read more

I just wrote her a check and asked her to please not run my add in het publication. Mr. Bruce is correct. I made a contract with her employee Patty who was a doll and wonderful to work with, Ms Jacobs is one I do not want to do business with. So I would rather pay and not advertise. My experience was not a good one at all n I never complain about a business in own town. read more
