I called the scheduling department to schedule a scan. The person who answered the call was clearly not enjoying her job. She started out very deadpan with zero (I mean ZERO personality) which is fine. But then she became surly and then downright rude. Apparently, I was not providing my information fast enough or to the direct letter of how she can enter it. I explained the doctor's office faxed the Rx 3 times so they should have it already on file. Her tone was very aggressive and disagreeable. I told her she was being very rude and with that she hung up on me. Wow, someone is in the wrong job. I called back and requested a supervisor and was transferred to the sups voice mail. I explained the situation and that she does not have to call me back herself but I need someone to call me as I still need the service scheduled. Now over 24 hrs later and of course no one has called back. Terrible service. read more

I've never been to this hospital but I have dealt with their medical records department. This review is really just for medical records. I've had to request records from here several times and each time that I do, I receive the records promptly. The employees are efficient and in my opinion do their jobs well. This Hospiital needs to train their home health care people. Some employees can't think as well as a fifth grader. When they couldn't contact a patient for home health care they didn't bother to check if they had the right phone number so they just canceled the case leading the patient without follow up home health care so they could prevent patient from falling. read more

On Friday 3-25-2022between 9:30pm and 10:pm My wife was brought into the Emergency department when they got her back into the room Two nurses sat her on the Gurnee and took her top and bra off give her with out giving her the choice to do it in Privacy an without closing the curtains and there was Other people walking by and people in the room Directly across the hall I had quick close the curtains so nobody Else would see her then while the they were doing this they were complaining about a 16 hour shift and were just rude to my wife and myself. Then a Dr.Dave come in and would not listen to what we're trying to tell him he listen to her chest and lifted her arms and legs and said he I would give you a Cocktail to make you feel better when I asked him what he was giving her he said toradol. This doctor ran no test to figure out what was wrong with my wife. When the nurse returned with the med she had 4 meds with bag of saline. These meds she was Allergic to and when we refused the meds they did not give the saline through the IV . They never told what the other meds were until I saw and stop it.Then when left the room for minute the nurse came back in and and offed her a pain pill and Benadryl my wife told that she did not have pain and did not want take it.She told them I came in for high pulse and low 02 and Slurred speech and right side Weakness I want to find what is wrong with me. Needless to say they didn't run enough test to figure her out she's been having problems cents this was worse ER staff that we ever Encountered.Dr Dave and those two Nurses should be fired read more

The nursing staff is phenomenal. So too is the man who checked me in and helped ease my fears. In particular, ED nurse Renee and ED Physician Assistant Allison were incredible. I wish they'd been in charge of my care the entire time! Nurses on 2nd floor were great. The reason for a 3-star review vs 5: I got to talk to each doctor for between 3 and 5 minutes. The first barks his opinions and charges $698 for that 3-min visit. I'm sure he gave a cursory glance at my bloodwork and ultrasound results--but still. $698--REALLY???Who comes up with that rate?? Clearly someone who thinks the barking doctor is God. I needed a blood transfusion (they said I'd need two). After the first, the blood bank didn't want to give me more because they felt my numbers were just good enough after the first. I sat from 7am to 4pm WAITING to be discharged. On my self-pay dime. Meanwhile, the issue that caused the need for the blood transfusion returned, and the doctor never returned the nurses' messages to address it. I needed a medication the hospital didn't carry. So I needed to get out ASAP to fill the prescription so my hemoglobin wouldn't tank and require another blood transfusion. I was discouraged from walking, so I couldn't fully determine if I was dizzy yet from low iron. I found out in the parking lot though and nearly passed out driving home! For days, I was short of breath and could barely get up the stairs into my home. My lips were white, face pale, and the followup doctor couldn't believe no one had checked my hemoglobin again before releasing me. They never provided a list of iron-rich foods or even recommended an iron supplement (fortunately I'm pretty well-educated in natural health to know these things--but it's a no-brainer that this should be shared with patients in a situation like mine)! They didn't say, "Stay clear of tea/coffee while your iron is so low" as is another important piece of info to share. M.D.s only throw pills at you or take out your organs, so no surprise here. It's not their fault; they're not trained in how the whole body works together or in anything much regarding food or herbs as medicine. So sad the state of our medical system these days. When I saw another followup doc for next steps (possibly surgery), the results of the ultrasound at Phoenixville Hospital were incomplete. She has to call to find out what in the world the results were! So I'm delayed several days in getting the treatment I need and am hoping I won't have to pay out of pocket AGAIN for another ultrasound. My doctor advised me that from now on I should go to Paoli's hospital--which I'll do for sure. Hopefully their nurses are just as kind. read more

The main hospital is fine, the people couldn't of been nicer when my husband was admitted. But the ER is very scary depending on who was on. One visit they were wonderful answered all my questions and efficiently stitched up my husband. Last visit I sat not knowing anything for an entire hour in the waiting room till I threatened to get loud and obnoxious. My husband has dementia didn't know where he was so I'm sure he was very confused, upset and in pain so to shackle him and not have someone with him was beyond cruel. After being turned away from an urgent care facility last Thursday evening we made our way to Phoenixville Hospital. My daughter had just hit her head that caused bleeding and we were concerned about a concussion. Originally, I did not want to pay (a co-pay) at the emergency room, however I am glad we did. The nurse and doctors were outstanding at Phoenixville hospital. They made my daughter feel welcome, better and started the healing process. (the exact opposite of the experience at AFC in Phoenixville). I loved how the doctors brought my daughter juice and crackers. They tried to make her smile. They were gentle and talked to my daughter throughout the process. The next day she asked if she could write the doctors a thank you. Thank you friends at Phoenixville Hospital! read more

I have been to this hospital twice and both times were excellent. The staff was so friendly and caring. During my first trip I had a baby and we were both very well cared for. The second time I went, I was not feeling well and had to have surgery. The whole team at Phoenixville hospital took amazing care of me. The whole process was very efficient. All staff members explained each step of the process and made the day very comforting especially given the circumstances. I would recommend this hospital to anyone who needs medical care. read more

I went to the emergency room about 11 am with a family member and it is now almost 5 pm and we are still here. The attending physician assistant said he would put a order in for his medicine at 2 and at 4 the not so friendly nurse said there wasn't a order in for any meds and here it is 3 hours later and he still didn't get his meds yet. He is being transferred to Jefferson and again we were told that over 3 hour ago and we're still waiting with no timing in sight. It's terrible how they just let you sit for hours in a cold room and not check on you for hours or give you any updates. Terrible experience read more

My mother was admitted to ICU May 2018 and me and some of my brother and sisters went to be with our mom. Immediately after arriving in ICU, I asked to see her nurse and had some questions. She acted like I was bothering her and then before I could finish with some questions she said she already answered questions with my sister and she isn't going to keep repeating herself. She then started telling me all the rules, only 2 visitors at a time, visiting hours, etc. rude rude rude, I asked to talk to a doctor and she rolled her eyes. Then the doc comes and same thing, I was bothering him. I been in ICU a bunch of times as my wife is a quad. This place is a nightmare. All other hospital ICU were great but not this one. Emergency caused me to be here for a shattered patella, on 4 occasions my name on my chart was wrong or they tried to admit me when I told them I was from out of town and my insurance would not cover surgery. Just got back from the ER on a rainy Labor Day. We were in and out in under an hour and they had to take x-rays. Outcome was a fractured elbow but with that being said the entire process was fantastic. We must have already been in the system because we didn't have to fill out any paperwork, we went right into a private room, the nurse, physicians assistant, and physician were all very friendly and helpful. We left with a ton of documentation and our x-rays on a CD without even having to ask. Thee nurse even gave us extra medical tape in case the ace bandage' covering the plaster cast came loose. All in all a great experience under terrible circumstances. read more

Horrible ER experience. I went in to the ER with 2 fractured ribs. I was treated by the arrogant Dr David Hockenberry. I was not given my correct diagnosis until hours later when I was at home. I was given no relief for my pain while there - only a prescription that we had to wait hours to fill - until pharmacy was open. This place sucks! Reading Hospital makes them look like they don't get it - how they treat the patient matters. read more

Went in for out-patient testing. I have yet to understand why they have so many people come in at the same time when they do not have enough people in patient registration to handle it. They ask you to be there 15 to 30 minutes before your appointment so you can sit for 45 to 60 minutes before you are called in just to be registered. Please explain that. The waiting room is filthy with dead flies laying in a thick layer of dust on the windowsills. I bet the items in the display cabinet haven't been dusted in a couple of years. Of course we were all hoping that things might change with Tower Health. So far, not so good. read more

Even the physician there suggested various tests which probably were not needed at all. My 11 year old son had a stomach - ache and I took him to Phonexiville hospital since it was sunday. Immediately after admitting him he was administered saline/ glucose, some blood tests and X Rays were recommended by the physician. Inspite of all this nothing was really dignosed and probably after max 5-6 hours my son recovered (not sure if he recovered out of treatment) and we went back home. Within a week the bill arrived and I was shocked to see the bill amount of approx 6700 USD for the services. It meant 1000+ USD/ Hr which was ridiculous amounty . At no point in time any idea was given to me regarding any of the cost involved. I sincerely think there should be a set rate card (or standards) laid down by government so that no hospital shall ever excced these thresholds (considering that most of the bankruptcies in US are due to medical costs), My pain was aggreveated by my health insurer Assurant which exhibited very unprofessional manner of handling of the claims and refused most of the treatement header initially however after phoenixville hospital raised a concern almost all of the headers except emergency physicians services (originally this was the only reason I approached the hospital ) were denied by the insurer (beware of this insurer no set standards or policy. Even website is poor. Till date I did not receive the policy document. Nor the website ever allowed to log me in inspite of their claims to allow me to download the policy from the website). read more

This hospital shouldn't even be rated one star. I have never been this upset with a hospital or any kind of health facility. I was told to be there between 1:30-2pm,got there right on time and it took them until 8pm to do the procedure. Even after them saying i would have it done by 3pm. They were not sympathetic towards anything and did not seem to care about the patients. Not to mention i informed the billing department that i could not pay octobers payment because i am out of a job due to how my miscarriage affected me and they took money out anyway. I was there yesterday to pick my aunt up after she was discharged from the hospital and I ran to get my car to pull it up to the front of the hospital to wait for someone to bring her down and there wasn't a place to pick her up the whole front of the hospital was lined up with busses my poor aunt can't walk very well and needed the ramp where all the busses where so now she had to step down off the curb and had a very hard time doing so I think someone need to find a different place for all the school busses to park because the front of the hospital should be for patient pick up and drop off your read more

The ER did an incomplete ultrasound test, said they did a complete exam of many veins they did not and told me I had NO blood clot even though told them I'm metastatic lung cancer patient who had a very swollen ankle and severe pain in my calf which is a no brainer. Horrible!! The ER staff clearly hate their job.. The Dr. That saw me was veryy rude, and talked to me with a tone as if to say 'how dare you waste my time with a broken wrist'.. Um sorry I'm human.. The wait times were ridiculous for an ER that was practically void of people at 6pm.. There were clearly no other people waiting, and no medical staff to be seen!? Umm did rapture just happen? Where is everyone!!? Once I GOT to a dirty room, I was told to order food.. Not asked if I'd like to, I was told to.. So I decided that would get my mind off things anyway.. But It took almost 1.5 hours to get a warm salad. . Why was it warm!? I no sooner started eating when another kitchen worker barged in my room without knocking and asked if I was finished.. Ummm are you guys from 2 different kitchens!? I justtt got this. . Where am I!?? What an experience. . Next time I break a bone, I'll just go to Home Depot.. They have experts there. . Although there are some stars and light bearing objects (such as some really caring nurses) at Phoenixville, Hospital, the general picture is pretty gloomy. For example, my mother came into emergency because of upper stomach pains. ER response time was pretty good! They admitted her and then they were going to schedule a gall bladder procedure (which we knew about) and then they were just going to remove the gall bladder without speaking with my mother or me. My mother was coughing every few minutes and they took her for a gall bladder procedure where tubes were down her throat. When she came to she was coughing every six seconds, I am not exaggerating her face was so red that it was scary. Why was the procedure rushed? The doctor was going on vacation the next day and so they had to (it wasn't an emergency) rush her. I am not a doctor or medical person but you do not put someone under when they are coughing their brains out. Bottom line if you HAVE TO GO THERE.....well then you must....but I'd chose somewhere else to go if you have a choice!! read more
