PHOHOLIC @ COSTA MESA It was super private and really fast to get the food, they try their best to streamline the seating but it's difficult for them since there is limited seating. I wouldn't recommend this place for big groups--but this spot is great for 1-3 people.

First visit to this location. I ordered the #4 Pho Chin, and it was good overall. The broth was a bit different from what I'm used to--it had a noticeable cinnamon flavor that really stood out. Service was great, but they could improve on keeping water refilled. As for the ambiance, I didn't realize they had two separate sections: one with individual stall-style seating and another in the back that feels more like a traditional dine-in area.

Of all the local PhoHolic locations, this is my preferred one. It is located in Collage, the food dining hall at Bloomingdale's in SCP. They have individual seating or tables in the back. Sometimes I crave pho but not a whole bowl so we will split it and order extra noodles on the side. I noticed that as takeout, it's only $2 but when dining in, the charge is $3 because it comes with additional broth. Business hours here are 11 AM to 10 PM daily.

The South Coast Plaza location is trendy with seating similar to a Japanese ramen bar in single stalls, but there is also a back area with typical tables/seating. We came to this location because of proximity to where we were but there are some evident differences from their other OC locations closer to Vietnamese town. 1. The herbs/veggies plate is significantly smaller portion size and that's probably to prevent extra waste. You can ask for another plate of veggies that doesn't cost extra, but you'll get all the fixings as the plates seem to be premade. 2. Condiments like hoisin and sriracha are also pre-portioned out too unlike some of the locations where it's self-serve, but can ask for more. 3. See photo from the pickles onions are not thinly cut and very little pickle, which indicated to me it needed to be in the brine for longer as it was bitter to eat. Condiments are clearly important to me lol but the Pho quality it still pretty similar to other locations. The broth is a little bit lighter in flavor but the noodles were consistent, the extra side of tendon was good (although this location needs better scissors).

PhoHolic is my favorite place to eat pho. I love the #2 pho tai, chin. Unlike other places, the meat::noodle::broth ratio is perfect. There's just the right amount of everything. This place gets busy pretty quickly, but it is worth the wait. Once you're seated, you'll forget you were even waiting at all. They have tables and barstools that are separated for privacy. I really like both seating options because dining feels intimate either way. I love this place so much that I wish I could just gatekeep it, but I'll put you on. Check this place out!

Quite frankly, the pho here is so good that nothing else really matters. Parking is a pain, there's usually a wait, and the service is very "chop, chop," but it's all worth it the moment that bowl of pho arrives. Portions are generous, and everything tastes like it's healing your body and soul: the broth, the noodles, and the meat. Phoholic holds my #1 spot in OC (I sometimes daydream about it)...

Still impressed by how quickly and efficiently the staff are able to move you in and out of the restaurant. PhoHolic near Bloomingdale's is a great spot if you're short on time and want a comforting bowl of pho. The broth was just as flavorful as I remembered but this time, the wide noodles were a bit softer than I like. Ambiance is casual and I saw that they added a call button for service, but the staff is usually so quick you likely won't need this. Thank you for a quick and yummy meal!

I ordered number 13, which has steak and oxtail. I really enjoyed both meats, which were flavorful and tender. The broth is flavorful, and the portions of meat are generous. I like that there are a lot of meat options too, and I plan on trying something else next time I come. I ordered something else last time I was here (I forgot which one), and I remember liking it, too. The service is fast, too.

    1. The pho was comforting and delicious! I really like options! 2. The spot has fun casual vibes! It is part of a food court! 3. The staff was friendly and timely with my order! Food was ready in less than 10 mins! 4. There are only indoor seatings! There are tables and counters! 5. Parking lot is huge! Very easy to find parking! Note: I did not check if this spot has their own restrooms, but there is a restroom area nearby! Photo: Water and Pho Tai

First time visiting here at South Coast Plaza. Really love the concept of "single dining" in your little cubby. Service was FAST. Your order appears minutes after ordering. There's a little call button when you need assistance. Otherwise they leave you alone while you eat. Ordered #4 pho brisket. Some of the meat was a little tough and hard to bite. The broth was very good. Very flavorful and I chose the flat wide noodles and they were delicious. Huge bowl of broth to sip and it comes with extra onions, bean sprouts, mint, lime on the side. Will definitely come again. They are located on the lower level of Bloomingdale's.

Love this pho place in South Coast! The quality is consistently delicious and the portions are generous. The broth is a little sweet for my taste but the joy of pho is seasoning it to taste, and they provide all the herbs and sauces to do just that. Service is friendly and efficient, and the setup is great. Tables for bigger parties, and I love the little dining cubbies for introverts or solo diners. My husband and I got seated at the counter and the staff removed the divider between us, which was cute. A great choice for a satisfying, comforting bowl of pho.

This is my first time trying PhoHolic and I was impressed. I got #13 and the broth was very flavorful. One concern was the noodle portion in my bowl. My sister got #13 as well, but I got a significantly smaller noodle portion. We both got thin noodles. I ended up asking the server about it and they gave me complimentary noodles on the side which was very nice. Another thing was I expected more oxtail, but I ended up getting only 1 and my sister got an even smaller one than mine. We also tried #15 and the broth had a slightly sweeter flavor profile but not too noticeable of a difference. They have all the garnishes on the side so you can dress the soup up yourself. The area is a bit small but they do provide tables for parties of ~5-6 people and also single stalls as well. It is also a bit stuffy and hot in the back. I'm interested to try the location at Garden Grove.

I came here on a Sunday night and there was no line so we got seated quickly. I got the #3 with steak and meatballs and the broth was pretty flavorful. The meatballs are always a classic so you can't go wrong. I thought the steak was okay though, it was a bit chewy once it was submerged in the broth. I would come back here to try another item. Bonus points for the yummy sliced onions drenched in vinegar, really helps cut the fat.

Randomly decided to try this place with the wife last night…read more I remembered there being a spot called mogu mogu here prior and confirmed with the waitress that it's the same menu! Spicy miso ramen: 9/10 Actually one of the better ramens I've had lately. The broth is creamier and isn't overpowering with chicken/beef flavor. The chashu was nice and tender as well. I really liked that their noodles were al dente and not too soft Deluxe mazemen: 8/10 Taking my first bite, I was instantly greeted with an explosion of umami. There's a LOT of flavor packed in this bowl and the noodles used are actually a bit thicker which is right up my alley. My only drawback on this dish was that I wished it came with some sort of veggies to cut through all the flavor. They also give you a small serving of rice at the end for you to mix into the bottom which was a nice addition Kurobota sausage: 7.5/10 We've recently been on a kurobota craze. Don't get me wrong, these were great but we've only had them charred and grilled before so I was taken aback when I saw that these were only steamed. To start it off, we ordered their specialty chicken karaage and it was very delicious. It has a nice crispy and crunchy texture. The batter on the chicken was good and once you bite it, the meat is juicy and tender. Doesn't really need dipping since it's so good. As for the Mazemen, we ordered the Deluxe and Veggie one, both is a 5/5. Very flavorful and it tastes just like ramen, but without the soup. The presentation of the dish looks like a work of art. Very picture pretty. I ate that shit up within ten minutes. After that they give you a scoop of rice so you can mix it up with the leftover sauce. Lots of umami for sure. Definitely will come back again to try the other flavors. People, trust me and come through!

Funny enough, another friend I met the day before also recommended it before I even mentioned it! She raved about the chain and said she often visited the Irvine location. That really sealed the deal for me, and I was excited to finally try it! The location we went to is located in the food court across of a new boba spot and Mochinut on the first floor of the Collage Culinary Experience in the South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa. There is ample open air free parking around the area for customers. We visited during their weekday happy hour (2:30-5pm) which offered three different deals: $9.99 with two chicken options, $12.99 with either ebiko prawn ball or crispy cod, and $13.99 with the big prawn shrimp and chicken noodle. All included a non-alcoholic beverage. It was a great deal! My friend recommended the trio noodle soup, but it wasn't part of the happy hour special, so I chose the last option. I ordered their Big Prawn Noodle with iced Oolong tea. The broth was light with a hint of umami, but not as fragrant as I expected it to be based on the reviews and my friend who frequents this chain. Maybe I got the newer, top batch without the deeper flavor and umami? The shrimp was also not the huge beautiful prawns that their menu showed - just those regular frozen round headed ones. I was a bit disappointed by my meal. My friend ordered their Ebiko Prawn Ball Dry Noodle, and my boyfriend ordered their Trio Shrimp Dry Noodle. The ebiko prawn ball tried was really good. If it's homemade, kudos to the restaurant! There was a lot of flavor in that small prawn ball which was amazing. Overall, an ok spot in my opinion. It was unfortunately a bit underwhelming but maybe it was just a bad day when we went. I do want to come back and try their Signature Trio Shrimp Noodle and maybe some of their appetizers at our next visit!

You could literally taste the 30+ hours of labor that went into it. It had that distinct "frothy" texture (the bubble of the bone marrow) that you only find in high-end Hakata shops. The Hits * Black Tonkotsu: The roasted garlic oil (mayu) added a smoky, dark complexity that ruined all other garlic ramens for me. * God Fire: For those who like to sweat, this offered the perfect balance of heat without sacrificing the integrity of the pork flavor. * The Karaage: Genuinely some of the best fried chicken in the area. In the end he had lot of food to explore. One thing that caught my eye was several couples there and sharing a large soup item served with a tray of various food items for the soup. Kind of a date night visual and something that looked very interesting. Several couples around us had that same dish and its got me more curious. Might have to come back with my wife and try this one.

I decided to give this place a try because I heard their noodles were very authentic, and as…read moresomeone who loves noodles, I was excited to try it. I ordered their most popular dish, the A1 set, but honestly, it didn't really live up to the hype for me. The broth tasted pretty underseasoned overall. From what I understood, you're supposed to mix all the toppings into the soup with the noodles, but even after doing that, I still felt like the flavor was lacking. Yes, they provide seasoning on the side, but personally, I wish the broth already had enough flavor on its own without needing to adjust it myself. Would I come back? Probably not. Nothing really stood out to me enough to return, and it felt more like a one-time experience. Overall, everything was just okay.
