I took the beginners course at Greenwich and really enjoyed it. Mark explained how the shutter, aperture and iso work (with even an old camera so we can see the inside) .. plus he explained how they relate to each other and how we need to use them. What I especially love was how responsive Mark was by email. I actually paid for the course in October and wasn't able to get my schedule in order to attend until February. But he accommodated my busy schedule and also gave me some good advice when I thought I ruined my new camera. Always prompt via email. The only thing I would say is be aware that this is a course that's standing on your feet for a few hours. Having recently had surgery, by the end of the session I was in pain. Obviously not a criticism of Mark, just something for you to be aware of. read more

Mark Andreani the tutor for the two hour session quickly assessed our photographic capabilities and targeted the session to successfully move each of us on from where we currently where. Thoroughly enjoyed the course and learnt a lot about my camera and the essentials in understanding photography. Mark was great; a cool and friendly character who certainly knows his stuff. Involved a lot of theory and an element of practical application of that theory. Mark, you said that it was great to take a portrait shot of a handsome and photogenic subject (me) or something like that. I attended Mark's beginners course in Greenwich and found it to be extremely helpful and informative. Mark is very patient and attentive, and provides examples to explain the course content. The notes are comprehensive without being a bulky package to carry home too. Mark also gives really good feedback on photos taken. Whilst I had always enjoyed taking photos, I had never taken a course, and so was a complete beginner. I found that my knowledge and ability to view perspectives, and landscapes, expanded vastly because of Mark's course. The beginner's SLR course was fantastic I really enjoyed it and learnt a lot more than I was expecting to. Mark takes the group through at a good pace and there is a perfect balance of technical information and time to practise on your own. We were also able to spend time inside and outside using our cameras and Mark was on hand to give feedback and tips in a friendly manner while letting you get on with trying out different techniques. I attended the beginners DSLR course on 14 Oct. As someone who has had a few digital compact cameras in the past I knew how to point and click when set to auto!! After purchasing a nikon dslr thought it would be useful to go on a course to learn how to use it properly. The course was very informative with just enough technical information to explain the key points and plenty of time around Greenwich to put the theory to the test. Mark was very welcoming of questions and quick to provide useful tips. I would definitely recommend this course and am considering the intermediate course to continue my development. read more

Mark is able to accomodate all levels of experience because he always go back to basics and relates in plain English and he obviously has a lot of working experience. An excellent workshop highly recommended. I'm (or should I say I was!) a total beginner with no idea whatsoever; my Nikon DSLR was in 'Auto' mode 99% of the time. I can honestly say I doubt I will ever use 'Auto' mode again. The 'learning' itself was in a very relaxed style, with lots of time to practice what Mark was teaching us in fact we were taking photos all the time. The location is great as well all in all I really recommend this for anyone with no real knowledge who wants to come away feeling a lot more in control. I'm now looking for a new DSLR! I wasn't sure what to expect from this course as I have been on a number of similar courses with varying degrees of success. However I was pleasantly surprised to find that Mark was an excellent teacher. He covered all of the basics and is extremely knowledgable being a professional photographer himself. Being a complete beginner I found his approach of explaining how the camera works from the inside-out really effective. He also gave each student individual time to talk through their needs. really good introduction to photography for beginners. i've been taking pictures on fully automatic mode for ages but now i fell like i'm more in control of my camera. really want to do the intermediate level and also the online course - they actually print a book of student photos each year and share the best students pics online on social networks, which sounds pretty cool as i would love to get more views of my shots. definitely the best workshop i've done in london - don't bother with any of the others. read more

I was delighted with all I learnt on the course run on 5th Nov. The session went back to basics in very informative way and also introduced lots of tips and useful elements of the camera which I had no idea how to use. I have since been out photographing a sunny autumn day and trying to remember all I learnt....before I forget. The secret is to get practising straight away so all the new info is fresh.....For me anyway. Very good day..well worth the money. I hope to attend another course soon. read more

Great class. Very informative and hands on practical. Unintimidating and completely knowledgeable about different cameras. Mark managed to effortlessly blend a printed theory class with practical definition using 35mm cameras as props to define and explain newer digital cameras. He also used an amazing amass of experience to explain more complex shots and concepts. It was so much more than I expected and I was able to immediately make my pictures better. Having spent a fortune on an all singing and dancing camera which I was only ever going to use on auto I decided to enroll in the beginner's and intermediate courses run by Mark. Well worth the money, time and energy; an excellent teacher, both very informative and patient! A good level of basic instruction to start and interesting extras which I would never have bothered to work out from the manual. It's so much easier when someone tells you how to use it! Good fun. This beginners course was brilliant. I have been on a few courses now and I felt that this was the best one, because I learnt so much more in this workshop. Thanks you Andreani for a fantastic workshop. It was just right. I went from knowing almost nothing about photography to feeling excited about taking pictures and trying new things. I will never use the auto again! In the 3 hours we covered all the basis and Andreani made sense of all the technical terms. Excellent workshop on 12 April 2012 (even taking account of the cold, damp, miserable weather conditions at the Observatory at the top of Greenwich Park). Good commentary and instruction from Mark, although from my point of view some of the pennies did not drop until I read Mark's course notes the next day. I now understand the Av setting, ISO, manual focus, white balance and much more. I shall never use the GREEN mode again. Ever! read more

The 2 hour twilight/night photo course was bought for me as a gift. I can honestly say that it was really enjoyable. I learnt how to use functions on my camera that I have never used previously. Our group had different types of camera but Mark was able to show us how to get the best shots, he encouraged us to experiment with different settings.
