My wife and I were about to head out to our typical dim sum place in Ontario but noticed traffic was bad so decided to look on Yelp for a new hopefully just as good if not better local place. Which brought us to Phu Chen Kitchen. The reviews were amazing so we had for find out for ourselves. This place is about 15 mins away from me. Thank God! Parking is plentiful. Its found in a small plaza on the same parking place as Bowlero off of Foothill. My wife and I was greeted right away and seated. The place is very clean and organized. We ordered the Dim Sum shu mai and shrimp hargow. These were not only amazing but Gigantic well worth what they are charging ( 7.95) for shu mai and 7.50 for shrimp hargow. We also got green beans, walnut shrimp, spicy salty pork, spicy salty wings, chicken fried rice. EVERYTHING, I MEAN EVERYTHING was made FRESH!!! Nothing tasted like it was pre-made or just sitting there. Fresh crispy well season amazing authentic Chinese food! Way better then PANDA INN at a fraction of the cost. Staff was amazing friendly attentive and accommodating. Even the owner came out to greet us, staff understand and speaK English well. I have been trying to find a Chinese restaurant to call home since I moved out here in 2017, and im glad that I finally found the hidden Gem in Fontana! I highly recommend coming here and trying everything because there wasnt anything I didnt like. They've only been here since 2023 and I hope they continue to get the exposure they need to strive! I ordered a plate of beef & broccoli, steamed buns, and orange chicken plus a side of rice. Definitely had to take some home. The flavors were true to Chinese dishes. Things to note: Beef & Broccoli was a bit heavy on the oyster sauce for my taste, so it was a tad saltier than I'd like. I eat plain, but it balances out with the rice. My husband likes more intense flavors so it was perfect for him. Once the dish cools though, you do notice some of the sauce congeal because of the cornstarch. The orange chicken is not what anyone expects when they hear orange chicken. It's not crispy. Took my BF for Sunday dinner. They have a nice dining room, if you want to stay and have a sit down dinner. You have to pay extra for rice, it is not included with the entree, but serving size is bigger than most restaurants. My BF loved the broccoli beef! Some lobster seafood dishes, Hainan chicken and BBQ pork have to be called in and ordered in few days advance ensuring freshness !!! Guess what I saw? The biz name Phu Chen right across the street from Wal-mart. I said since I am nearby, I might as well. My first time here was for take-out. Staff was welcoming. Food was ready timely. Shrimp gaw was gigantic and full of shrimp... it almost covered my entire palm! It was that big. It had great flavor. Chicken wings were amazing! Veggie chow mein was okay. It needed more wok flavor IMHO. Portions were very good though. My second time here was for dine-in with my Yelpie friend. I noticed the person taking our order was giving the attention primarily to my friend as if I wasn't there. It's all good. I'm not a regular customer. She is. But still... good customer service should be given regardless of frequency of visits. However, the other staff member was very attentive and took great care of us throughout our 5 hours of dining LOL. Thank you sir! The young lady behind the counter was very nice, too. Thank you miss! Our dine-in meal was very delicious overall. Fish maw soup was quite flavorful... I enjoyed it very much. Garlic string beans were crispy, firm, and tasty... it's a winner... must get every time! My mom loves Chinese food so anytime we visit town we try a new spot and this one was a clear winner! We tried the orange chicken, kung pao beef, and honey walnut shrimp. All of the dishes were cooked well and had the perfect amount of sauce. Our favorite was the orange chicken, perfectly crispy and right balance of meat/batter. This is a family owned restaurant and our waitress was prompt and super nice. Everything is clean and well maintained. This is one of those little family spots you go for some authentic homemade Chinese food. Everything was excellent and fresh! We ordered the Kung pao beef, crispy orange chicken, and honey walnut shrimp with sides of rice. I just moved to the area and was craving some dim sum. So glad I found this place down the street! It's in the same center as the bowling alley, so there's tons of parking. When I called my order in, I was told 20 minutes but I ended up waiting another 15 after I got there. No biggie, they were busy. I ordered XLB, shumai, har gow, and a boba Thai tea. XLB (4 stars) - 12 pieces in an order and they were each on a cute little aluminum tray. Presumably to hold in any soup that may leak out. And even after a bumpy ride home, each little dumpling survived. It wasn't the soupiest XLB, but definitely juicy. Flavor was good. Would order again. I do rate all XLB against Din Tai Fung... so 4 stars is pretty solid. Shumai (5+ stars) - shumai is one of my favorite dim sum orders... this place was LEGIT. Hefty sized shumai and absolutely delicious. You get 4 pieces in the order, and it's enough to fill me up. *Spectacular! Give me 14 of em right now!* Har gow (4 stars) - shrimp ratio wasn't bad. Wrapper was a bit thick but no biggie. We like the carbs. Boba Thai tea (4.5 stars) - boba was soft and chewy and that Thai tea was your average Thai tea. We tried several dishes, the orange chicken was okay, the fried rice was fine, and the noodles were average. The soup dumplings were definitely not the best tasting in the area. I drove 30 minutes to try this place because of Yelps list and it definitely was not worth the drive. You can try better or comparable Chinese restaurants in adjacent cities near this place. You say, dim sum? I say, where? This is a rare find for the Inland Empire! Well hidden in a small nondescript street mall, it looks like another ordinary, fast food Chinese restaurant. But it's not. Even though there is a short list of dim sum on the menu, and they do not do the charming, traditional cart delivery, it didn't matter. What they did have is mind boggling freshly made, and huge. The entrees were equally wonderful. Har gow - these are filled with sweet shrimp. The plump shrimp were quite fresh. 4 per order. Siu mai -these are much bigger than most with an exquisite pork/ shrimp filling. This was the #1 favorite. 4 per order. Salt and pepper shrimp- if you love the presentation of the whole shrimp with head on, this is what we got. Fresh, plump, sweet, and an abundance in one order, we were amazed. Yum! Steamed bao - tender sweet steamed bun with a nice bbq pork filling. 3 per order. Always a favorite when done right, which this was. Crispy noodle with beef - I am always looking for a good version of this, and this was a winner! The noodles had a crispy edge, the meat was so tender, you didnt need teeth. My only wish was there was more meat, but the dish itself was flawless. Mapo tofu - always my husband's favorite. This was outstanding. We were so pleased with our meal, we took the plunge and brought the entire dim-sum-vacuuming family (all 9 of us) here on Thanksgiving Day. And yes, they were open! And yes, my bunch of dim sum gobblers came away exceedingly happy. For Thanksgiving we tried additional dishes including the fried chicken wings, Honey Walnut Shrimp, Orange chicken, ginger beef, braised green beans, salt & pepper pork, and a delicately sweet finale of freshly fried, red bean sesame balls. None were disappointing. The smells were wonderful. The food was so fresh. Everything was incredibly tender and the portion sizes, oh my! OK, so I got a little too enthusiastic. We really didn't need to order so much. But our 3 households came home with tons of leftovers and even bigger smiles on our faces. There is one, separate room that can accommodate large and small groups comfortably. The decor is attractive but relatively simple as compared to the more garish decors we find at the bigger Chinese establishments. The service was great. Of note, there are a few menu items listed as Special Orders that excite me: Ginger and onion lobster (or crab). They will also do oysters even though not on the menu. But, these must be ordered 2 days in advance. Phu Chen has far exceeded our expectations, even after the giddy anticipation from reading all their glowing reviews. To Monterey Park and Chinatown I say, hasta la vista baby! I am perfectly happy to feed the dim sum beast here when it raises its ugly head. read more

I came here with the most wonderful group of family friends about 6 days ago for a lunch around 12:30 pm. I couldn't believe how clean this place was inside this hidden gem! The owners and all the workers here are so down to earth, friendly and exemplify the most excellent customer service! And, oh my, was the food so extraordinary!!! We came here for a celebration of my going away for 2 months as well. Other items we had were... white rice, Chow mein, Kung Pow chicken, We all ordered food and shared everything! We had so much wonderfully made food. A special thanks to V for the ordering and taking care of our part. Another special thanks to the rest of everyone for showing up, sharing is caring and letting me take many leftovers home! We had so many foods...my favorite was the awesome orange chicken. It's somewhat our Friendsgiving get together & it was the perfect location because of the warm reception we have encountered. We all ordered what we wanted to eat & share-family style. First of all, it's a little trouble to find. GPS sent us into the wrong shopping area (corner) instead of the next strip mall. From Foothill, enter the driveway and make a left into the strip mall. The restaurant is at the very end of the strip mall. (If you end up at Bowlero, you failed to make the left turn.) The food transcends most Chinese food you've ever had. I attribute the flavor to the freshness of the food and to the perfect seasoning. We had the Kung Pao dish with the three meats, the Orange Chicken (uniquely prepared in thin slices, not chunks), and the Mongolian Beef. (I listed them in order of joy.) Don't be deterred by the prices (about $14-$16 per dish) because you are going to have enough to take home for later. And don't be deterred by its location. It's best accessible from the 210 freeway at the Sierra exit. It's a local delight. As we sat there waiting and eating and watching UCLA lose to LSU, we saw locals drop by to eat on site, to pick up take out, and just to get a large boba drink.
