We ordered the chicken wings, crispy pork belly, whole fried pompano, prawn curry, panang curry, ( I cut the large slices into bite size and mixed it all up), and the sautéed green vegetables. Took my parents here, and it was such a treat! Very similar to their sister restaurant Laang Ban but tad more affordable, without the prefixe menu. If you want something unique and for your tastebuds to be blown off the wazoo, I highly recommend this spot. Especially if you're trying to impress anyone from out of town. Came here with my SO for celebration. I had its High Revelation drink, which was non-alcoholic, but a sip of it will transport you to the Carribbean, which was absolutely phenomenal. It wasn't sweet, and the coconut milk was not over powering. We then had their Salted pork belly which when eaten with the herb, lime, and Thai pepper, is very good. Their Beet Root Cheese Roti was probably one of the dishes that I really enjoy eating, especially with the salmon roe. Honestly, I would pay the extra for the salmon roe and the creme fraiche--it really makes a difference. For their main courses, we had their Panang Curry with the dry-aged NY steak. The steak itself was delicious. It was juicy, and the edges was just slightly seared, and was hardly noticeable. While it did not blend well with the Panang curry, I thought it was an absolute wonderful creativity and uniqueness of the steak bringing to the curry. Lastly, we got their Thai Paella with grilled octopus. The paella was well cooked. Crispy rice, not salty at all. The octopus was actually one of the best octopi I have ever eaten. It was not chewy, which is how most restaurant prepared it, but it was soft and easy to eat. You can see it freshly grilled, which was fun to watch. Overall, I am very happy that my SO have found this hidden gem. Apparently it also owns Langbaan, which we had also enjoyed when we went there. I definitely would come eat here again. Hands down my favorite thai place in Portland. Whenever I have guests in town, I always take them here. Everyone always ends up loving it and wanting to come back! A number of trusted friends highly recommended this place, so we booked dinner this Friday in great anticipation... Unfortunately, it was a big let down. My wife and I ordered the Vegan Curry, Thai Paella, and Yum Pak Nahn Budu salad. Presentation wise, they were all beautiful, 5/5. But that's about the only high point. So what went wrong? Let's break them down... Vegan Curry: far too salty for a lemongrass forward dish. With this much flavor, there's really no need to salt the crap out of it. Also, the vegetables was sparse. I spent a lot time trying to fish out something that wasn't liquid to put on my rice. 1 point for flavor, 1 point for creativity and 1 point for price. This dish was priced pretty reasonably at $14. Final score: 3/5 Thai Paella: also massively overly salted lemongrass forward dish. My wife had to send it back, she simply could not eat it with this much salt. Flavors were pretty good, but not particularly creative. Basically exactly what it sounds like, a Thai Paella. Final score: 2/5 Yum Pak Nahn Budu salad: truly the best item on the menu. The bitterness of the radicchio balanced by the sweet coconut dressing was phenomenal. Also very reasonably priced. Final score: 5/5 Unless you're measuring your ingredients, your cooks should always taste what they're going to plate. But service was pretty good, so there's that. Disappointing overall though. I appreciated the options when ordering to choose vegetarian and vegan options, and the notes for what is gluten free. I had to do a DoubleDash and add to my order after initially placed, and everything turned up together successfully. It didn't come with utensils though, so maybe request specifically. The food was very yummy! The potatoes were especially good, and the friend chicken bites were crispy and tasty. The Thai tea came in a to go bottle and was a bit small IMO. read more

So Folks ,the hype is very real -this place is all its made up to be . Good food , fun drinks , service and did I already say Good food ? We could only find seats outdoors but I did manage to get a glimpse of the beautifully done emerald green and wooden interiors . The space inside is small-ish but is inviting and warm with an impressive bar area and plenty of seating with a cozy sea of mini-booths, counter seats and outdoor covered and open seating .The tables outside are a little small and it was a constant struggle to manage to eat without spilling anything but that's not a problem one cant handle . The menu is inspired by Thai cuisine which has strong Chinese, Malaysian, and Muslim influences along with hints of western cuisines too and I have to admit nothing that other Thai restaurants serve in Portland . Expect a lot of spicy, sour, herb-forward flavors. We had - Cheese Pandan roti - This is where I was surprised as this dish lingers on the sweeter side which I was not expecting , not to say that I did not enjoy it. Pork belly - Not the best thing we ordered but it was alright. Thai paella - Must Try . My mind was seriously blown away by the explosion of flavors in this dish Carrots - Another Must Try I wanted to try their puffs but unfortunately they were no longer on the menu. I'd be remiss to not mention the cocktails - This is where mezcal, lime, and cucumbers meet fried shallots; and gin and warm Thai tea get a crown of Fernet cream. Came here on a rainy Saturday night and had the loveliest experience sitting outside in front of the restaurant. It was heated and fully covered so we were not cold or wet at all. Showed up a little earlier than our reservation time but luckily we were able to be seated sooner which was very nice. The service was really great, and the food came out in great time. Portion sizes were really good and so were the prices. Ordered the Miang Plaa Jaramed which was sooo yummy. Super crispy whole fish and lovely herbs and sauce. Thai paella was so flavorful and came in a really nice size. Panang curry was honestly the best I've ever had and the steak was cooked perfectly. Lan Roc pork chop was huge and we were absolutely stuffed afterwards. For vegetables we got the gai lan and carrots, both of which were super flavorful but I'm telling you the carrots are the star of the show. Do not miss out on this dish. It's definitely not straight up Thai food at all despite the name. It's fusion cuisine. The stand out was the pompano collar which had excellent flavor and was very moist and charcoal grilled. The eggplant dish underwhelmed ...and was a bit spicy and covered in lots of dried coconut chili flakes. The abalone appetizer had just a few small pieces of abalone and then sliced mushrooms with nicely cooked broccolini but it was a simple oyster sauce and not terribly interesting flavor-wise. I kept thinking that I've had far more satisfying meals in Thailand anywhere from $3 to $10 for what I had here in groovy Portland. That's just the nature of the beast even though they're doing things right and using good quality ingredients in a time of inflation and high labor costs. Of all the dishes my group had ordered, the one I enjoyed the most and was so new and unique for me was the Tom Yum paella. That dish was packed with flavor and had a great little kick of spice. I'm not sure if their menu rotates but we went back in May this year so some other dishes worth trying (if still on the menu) are: hamachi, curry puffs, and prawn curry. Some passes for me were the pandan cheese roti, crispy rice noodles, and pork chop. I've had much better roti at other places. The crispy noodles was not at all what I was expecting lol. Came here for brunch and wanted to see what the hype was about. Since this is a Thai restaurant, it wasn't the typical Western style brunch. We got a Sang Kaya French Toast to share. The toast was pretty good, the syrup that it was soaked in was the right amount of sweetness. I ordered the Miang Plaa Jaramed, which was fried pompano in a caramel fish sauce served with romaine lettuce. I was expecting more of a salad dish but this was a pleasant surprise. This is the hot ticket in town and it's easy to see why. We arrived well before they opened, knowing that we would have to join a line and frankly, I love an early dinner so I didn't mind. We were seated at the bar inside and were happy to let the bartender help guide us with the menu. He strongly recommended the Albacore and the carrots. We started with the Albacore, which is less like ceviche and more like sashimi. I don't love the texture of raw fish and this was a bit too big for me, but the flavor was so good that I had 2 pieces and my husband happily ate the rest. We also started with the pandan cheese roti which was a good mix of salty and sweet. It somehow worked. From the salad section we got the Miang Plaa Jaramed, the whole fried pompano. I don't know if I would get this again, but it was fun making our own little lettuce wraps with the meat and I did enjoy the flavors. For our main dish we went with the Ribeye and while it was flavorful, I would probably try the pork chop or paella next time. We also went with the carrots as our bartender recommended and it was easily the best thing we ate. The flavors were so complex and each bite was a little different. There was sweet, spicy, salty, and crunchy aspects to every bite. We tried their thai tea tres leches cake for dessert and honestly I wish it was a little sweeter with a bit more thai tea flavor, but I love sweets and thai tea so that could be a me thing. My first time at Phuket Cafe and everything we ordered was delicious, well cooked and full of flavour. The whole fried pomano salad is amazing. I never expected that the skin and bones of the whole fried fish are very crispy, but the fish is still very tender. When eating, wrap the fried fish bones and sticky rice with leaves, which is delicious. Thai paella + grilled octopus is another favorite dish. The octopus is tender and the taste of the rice is unique. We will definitely be back again! The overall service is friendly and the food is good. Another establishment made by the founders of EEM and Langbaan. Similar to the other establishments they are a Thai cuisine focused menu but differs from the other restaurants in their portfolio. I was worried it would be tough to be a walk in given that everyone was talking about this Phuket Cafe but it actually was easy to walk in before the dinner rush to get an indoor table for a group of four. I really enjoyed the decor and vibe of the place with all the live plants and wallpaper setting the scene. From what I am told I think Paadee also moved to this new place? I haven't been so can't confirm. Cute bar area as well that has open windows so if you're seated at those tables you have a direct line to service. Worth coming in a small group but even better with more people so you can try more of their menu items. For this visit we ended up sharing the pandan cheese roti, albacore, miang plea mang salad, dry aged ribeye, and eggplant. I really enjoyed the cheese roti as that is the first time I've seen that on the menu and the miang plea salad since it has a WHOLE pampano fish! I could pass on the ribeye next time as the portion sizes were OK. We also ended up getting two of the dessert items they had on the menu but would pass on those next time as well as the flavor combinations didn't mesh well with our taste buds. I would push this higher on the scale for the price point compared to the other restaurants. However, the portion sizes here are larger than the other places. We had the pork belly bites that were incredible when combined with lime, basil, and fiery thai chiles. The prawn curry had great tumeric depth. The abalone with broccollini was also solid. The star was the tom yum hang, a mix of shrimp, mussels, and fried pompano fish in a fish sauce accented glaze. Wow! Only small complaint was the very limited wine choices! Great service too. With a concise menu, Phuket Cafe does everything well, showcasing Thai flavors with innovative dishes. Our waitress gave us an overview of the menu highlighting what were the most popular items, and we decided on the pandan cheese roti, thai paella, and eggplant. We also ordered the Feeling Californian cocktail, and the watermelon was refreshing, and the "thaijin" added a nice kick! I would get it again. Everything we got was delightful. The pandan cheese roti was savory, sweet, cheesy, with a chewy texture that all worked so well together. It was a nice addition to help cut the spice of the other dishes. The thai paella was spicy! I have a good spice tolerance and I still thought it was pretty spicy; if you can't tolerate spice, I would not recommend. The rice was crispy with a smoky-umami flavor, pairing wonderfully with the clams. The spice did get a bit overpowering, I would see if I could lower the spice level next time to enjoy the other flavors too. The eggplant was so soft and the crispy chiles on top added a contrast to the melt-in-your-mouth eggplant. Overall, Phuket Cafe nailed it in every aspect. Hands down, one of the best date night/family outing spots in town with the most incredible food and drinks! Not knowing it had just had its grand opening a week prior, my husband and almost-toddler son decided to try this restaurant on a complete whim, hoping to enjoy some cocktails and possibly a pre dinner snack. The wait wasn't long, having arrived right around 5pm, and the exterior of the building The building is vibrant and lively both on the inside and outside. High vibe music as well as servers, hosts and staff, that were so accommodating and brought a little high chair out for our son. He had a blast watching the bartender mix up drinks and observing the people (and plants!) inside. The food is beyond words. Every item is unique, bursting with complex flavors and presented beautifully. Having now gone there 3 x, I have a few favorites (which may not always be available, as they change up their menu quite often) Muu Krua Grua: Salted glazed pork belly bites, makrut lime, Thai chilli - great with a side of sticky rice Eggplant: Mushroom sauce, makrut lime, crispy chilli and herbs Albacore tuna ceviche, prawn curry and biryani are other faves.
