Piaggio Group is an Italian motor vehicle manufacturer. Piaggio produces a range of two-wheeled motor vehicles and compact commercial vehicles under seven brands: Piaggio, Vespa, Gilera, Aprilia, Moto Guzzi, Derbi, and Scarabeo. Its corporate headquarters are located in Pontedera, Italy. The company was founded by Rinaldo Piaggio in 1884. Rinaldo Piaggio initially produced locomotives and railway carriages. When my daughter showed a like for a Vespa Lego set I began a mission to find a Vespa on the streets of Manhattan. Vespa scooters are fun to drive and are easier for parking than a car! I am sure you get better gas mileage! I feel better about riding without peddling. In Europe Vespa are very popular and rented by tourists for sightseeing. I'm recommending we all consider using them in Manhattan to get more of the cars off the streets. A new Vespa scooter ranges from $4,199 for the Vespa Primavera 50 to $8,499 for the Vespa GTS Super Tech, before any dealer or destination fees. Definitely worth considering! read more

2nd UPDATE: Finally got my bike back. Over a month to get a recall serviced correctly. Lost a whole month of prime riding time and a vehicle I regularly use for commuting. I don't know why companies don't understand that a product without appropriate service isn't really worth buying. After getting my bike back I noticed the warning sticker below the handlebars was scratched and 2 of the rubber runners in the foot wells were broken. All I can say is my next bike most likely will be another make. Someone who actually takes care of their customer, answers/returns phone calls, stands by their recalls and doesn't make my near death a trivial thing. UPDATE: Piaggio customer service is non-existent. Left messages for their customer service department and the warranty manager at their New York office. Never got a return phone call. It is taking 4+ weeks to fix right in the middle of riding system. It was also being used regularly to goto work. So, so so disappointed at the complete lack of concern and attentiveness. Yes Vespa is an iconic name brand but Piaggio isn't doing it any favors when this is the type of service customers are coming to expect. A faulty design on my 2006 Vespa GT250ie nearly got me killed when the exhaust line broke and melted the brake line thus losing my rear brakes. This happened on the freeway at freeway speeds and luckily (quite literally) I was able to dodge through traffic to get off the next off ramp. Apparently there is a recall for which I never received any notification. I called Vespa corporate in New York and they told me to simply take it to the dealer and they would fix it. Took it in to the Vespa dealer and 3 weeks later I'm still waiting. Vespa sent the exhaust line parts but is refusing to pay for the melted brake line. This is not a wear issue. This is a design issue and thus the recall. I am now paying out of pocket for my brake line to be fixed and I'll be posting pics of the melted brake line. So buyer beware Piaggio is completely fine with you being dead or at least a little poorer due to their designs. read more
