    Halloumi Hash
    Sharvani M.

Came here for brunch on a Sunday - really cool that you can see right into the open kitchen upon walking in. Very high ceilings, big open space, and nice decor, nice natural light. We shared the spinach croquettes, broccolini, halloumi hash, and mushroom burger. All the dishes were pretty good - we especially liked the spinach croquettes and halloumi hash. Halloumi hash had really nice textural elements with the cheesy grilled halloumi, squash, onions, sauteed onions, nuts, and sweet pops of raisin. Spinach croquettes were crispy on the outside and melt-in-your-mouth on the inside, served with a delicious tangy dipping sauce. While we wouldn't come here again just because we felt it was a bit overpriced for the food we got, it's a nice one-time try, but check the menu beforehand if you're vegetarian.

The food and service here is always reliable. My favorite is the oysters. They are fresh and not too briny. We trusted the recommendation of our waitress for our 8 oysters and we enjoyed all of them. Prime ribs: they are served sliced with chimichurri. The beef is tender and the minty chimicurri cut down the fattiness of the beef. Rotisserie chicken: juicy and well seasoned. My favorite sauce is the salsa verde. Chicory salad: beets are soft with hazelnuts to give crunchy texture. The crème frâiche isn't overpowering. It is an excellent salad. Dessert: chocolate cake is moist with caramel drizzle on top. Yogurt soft serve with ginger snaps, rum raisin, and candied orange. So delicious. Good amount of pieces of ginger snaps. I love this one. Service is great. The staff cleared out the dirty plates right away. The only hiccup was my waitress forgot to take my dessert order and I had to ask for it.

Picnic has easily become one of my favorite restaurants in Philadelphia. It's that place that I'll recommend if someone is in town to visit and wants a quality meal without the fuzz. I've dined here a handful of times without a reservation, and never had to wait more than 5-10 minutes. The venue was a formerly owned by Philadelphia Brewing Co. and since converted into a restaurant (Picnic), and is so spacious with high ceilings. Great vibes. The in-house wine sommelier (not sure if he's an official somm, but he's super knowledgeable about their beverage program and wine offerings) amps up the overall experience. Although the food can be labeled "simple", they use high quality ingredients and you can taste the difference. The tried and true (will always order) the oysters, the rotisserie and the chocolate cake. Get the cake, if you're feeling full and thank me later. It's the most perfect bite ever! Only con I can think of is the parking, but... it's east Kensington, which borders Fishtown... in Philadelphia. The days of easy parking are long gone. So just plan accordingly and visit Picnic.

One of my new favorite spots - I think the best value is going for happy hour otherwise I do feel it's a tad overpriced for some dishes. $2 oysters for happy hour, $6 sliders, $6 fries, $9 select cocktails. We had it all, and tried their half rotisserie chicken which was so so delicious! The oysters with the carrot tabasco was to die for. Ended with sweet treats of course, the chocolate cake & creamsicle twist. Everything was so yummy! Can't wait to come back in warner months and eat way too many oysters again.

This was my first time at Picnic. I didn't expect it to be so deep into Fishtown. When I walked in, I noticed how much space there was at this restaurant. I guess the place used to be a warehouse back in the day. There is a big space to welcome people in and it also sells a bunch of products there such as to-go wines. The receptionist was really helpful in directing me to my party. The inside looked gorgeous. There was top row seating that had a nice collection of plants surrounding it. The downstairs had seating on a picnic type bench. It also had nice decor like being in someone's living room. The bathroom is even more interesting as it looks like a fancy public school bathroom with its Dyson air dryer and hip sink. I started with Blanc de Blanc Sparkling NA wine. Their NA wine selection was pretty on point. It tasted just as good as real wine. This place is known for their oyster and rotisserie chicken. The oysters were really good. We were recommended the Birthday Girl and Lil Animals. I tried the smoked trout dip. It was pretty good. It had a great smokey flavor that I put on endives and crackers. The chicken I got was so big and delicious. I really liked how they seasoned the rotisserie chicken. The dipping sauces that came with this chicken was pretty amazing. Unfortunately, since this is very much sharing style, I was unable to figure out what sauce was the one I ordered. Overall; however, the sauces were delicious. I ended the meal with a frozen yogurt. I really liked how sour it tasted.

I've had the opportunity to visit this past NYE for happy hour and the entire staff was fantastic. From the host to the bartender to the wait staff. The venue itself is large , open and garden like. They sell bottles of wine at this establishment at the front side of the restaurant. I'm glad that they were still offering their regular menu despite it being a holiday. I had the signature oysters , fries, and slider. I tried several of their drink options on their menu as well. Everything was delish. I've visited a time during the summer and they had a guest chef. I'm not sure how often that happens. During that visit we tried the rabbit and that was very tender.

Finally got to check this place off my list for Happy Hour is Monday-Friday 5 pm to 6:30 pm. I got a couple of oysters for $1.75 each. Fish slider for $5 and fries for $5. To drink I got a $9 Whiskey Sour. All the food was very good. They do an all day Sunday Happy Hour as well. The first thing u notice when u walk in is the enormous sore of the restaurant

What a nice place around the periphery of Fishtown and Olde Kensington in Philly! Great seasonal outdoor area but the inside area has high ceilings and a really nice post-industrial ambiance. I had the half-rotisserie chicken and really enjoyed it. Still moist and very flavorful. I think Picnic is a really welcome addition to the community and is run by folks who have demonstrated a great commitment to hospitality in the city.

This restaurant is great for large groups and the food surprised me! It's a large, open space with a spacious seating arrangement. We got the birthday girl oysters, which were as described--a nice, middle-of-the-road oyster that's not too sweet but not too briny. I really enjoyed the various accoutrements that came with them. The drinks were also delicious! For the meal I decided to try the rotisserie chicken since that seems to be Picnic's specialty. I'm not one to usually order rotisserie chicken, but I was pleasantly surprised at how good this chicken was! It was very flavorful, extremely tender and not dry at all. As a sauce girly, I loved that there were multiple sauce options to choose from. The chocolate cake for dessert was good but nothing special in my opinion. Overall a super cute place I wouldn't mind coming back to!!

Upon walking into the resteraunt we walked up to the host station to ask if there was seating for 2 people, she said that she had to seat reservations (there was one couple waiting) and another couple came over shortly after which was fine but we thought it was strange because there were empty tables in the resteraunt and I checked the resy website and they had open reservations every 30 minutes until they closed. We got here at 1:45 and were seated shortly after. We waited about 10 minutes for someone to come up to our table and ask us what type of water we wanted and then another 5-10 for our waitress to come up to our table and take our order (we had our order ready when she came so we wouldn't have to wait longer), then when we waited 15 minutes for our drinks to even come out (2 cokes and 1 cocktail) and had to ask a staff member to check on our drinks, we then got them shortly after. I just felt like the service was horrible and not once did our waitress say anything about it, someone could have said from the beginning that they were busy or the kitchen was backed up so at least made up some sort of lie so we had the heads up. We got our food but it was annoying because we saw tables that put their order in after us and sat after us were receiving their food before us. At the end of the meal, one staff member came up for the check (not even our waitress) and she was the only helpful person in that place, she apologized for the wait and said it was because of graduation weekend. We appreciated someone saying something. To be honest it did not look like there were many grads in there. We also noticed there were random staff members that were just walking around doing absolutely nothing. It was honestly just a disappointing experience and I don't think I would go back again.

After three visits here, this place has quickly become one of my favorite restaurants in Philly. We started out with cocktails and oysters. Oysters are served with three delicious sauces. From there, we had the watermelon salad and corn croquettes. The watermelon salad was refreshing and delicious. Entrees were the schnitzel and the branzino. I get the schnitzel every time I come because I think it is delicious. The dessert was great too. Everything we ordered was a winner! The restaurant itself is also in a very beautiful space. I'll be coming back a fourth (and fifth and sixth) time!

I loved Picnic from the moment I walked in. For a restaurant in Kensington, I had my reservations about how high (or low) I should set my expectation. To my delightful surprise, Picnic was a great choice for a lovely gathering with a large group of friends. I loved the restaurant's set-up, as the main dining area mimics the outdoors courtyard with its placement of decorative houseplants sparsely throughout the room and the sunroof that lets the natural light in. I didn't get to check out their higher floor, but I would expect it to be just as great. Since I went there for a dinner party on Sunday, I was glad to see that there was an all-day Oyster Hour menu. I ended up ordering a dozen of Birthday Girl oysters, a fried chicken slider, fries, and cauliflower croquettes. Out of these, the croquettes and fries were my favorites. Birthday Girl oysters weren't as great as I expected them to be, but they still somewhat satisfied my cravings for the bivalves. The fried chicken slider was also pretty good, but since it's pretty small in size, I thought $5 was a bit pricey. Lastly, I can't complete this review without giving our server, Collin, a shout-out for his tremendous patience and service. For our group of 11, he was an angel in helping us split our bills in multiple ways, both individually an in groups of 2 - 3. Regardless of how difficult our quirky group's requests were, Collin was the man who helped us in getting them. If you're reading this, you're the man of the hour, Collin. Thank YOU for your amazing service.

First off our waitress was amazing. I won't say I loved all of her suggestions as much as she did, but the way she delivered was fantastic. She also offered to guess whose name was whose when bringing back our cards after splitting the check 4 ways and was hilarious and fun whether she was guessing right or wrong. Food highlights- everything was good or interesting with the standouts being the corn croquettes (that sauce... bonkers), trout dip, broccolini, and schnitzel, but the chicken was banging, and the mussels were delivered in the best fashion (I'm not a big mussels fan). The chocolate cake was also sublime. The mismatched chairs are fun and work well with a place that feels classy but not overbearing. There was a candle at every table, which we blew out twice. Shortly, after being blown out by our effusive conversation, a young staff member would come relight it. They were always genial and said that it happened all the time.

We braved negative degree weather for the roughly 10 minute walk from our hotel. We walked in at a good time. This is the type of place where a reservation for breakfast would be required. We were sat immediately. The dining area is tight. A green velvet bench, marble tables, metal chairs, all packed into a small area. You could very well have your butt brush over the table of the patrons next to you if you have to get up for any reason. It's tight. Our server was around quickly. He was super friendly and kept things conversational, light and sophisticated. My wife ordered an iced latte, I had their hot drip coffee. For a starter, we had to try the cinnamon knot bread. While it wasn't what we were expecting, it was good. Although, we wouldn't order again. The bread is presented as a small loaf, room temperature with a cold cream cheese icing drizzled over top. The bread had a mild cinnamon flavor and was dry. It lacked the sweet, moist dough you expect from a cinnamon bread. My wife ordered the French style omelet. This had gruyere cheese and chives. Beautifully plated, perfectly cooked and the taste was spot on. It was good enough to forget that she paid $21 for just an omelet, no meat, no sides. I ordered the Eggs Benedict. Pretty standard here. The eggs had bright orange yolks which is common for farm fresh eggs. The "coffee" hollandaise didn't come across with a coffee flavor but it was rich and went well with the ham and English muffins. One thing that stuck with me was their drip coffee. Not sure if it has been a while since I had a light roast but the Rival Bros. Revolver coffee was so good, I got a bag of whole beans to bring back home with me. I may even order it again online. Enswell succeeded on all fronts. The ambiance and service was great. The decor, impeccable. The food, thoughtful and tasty. The details from the silverware to the plates added to the experience. We would come back.
