This is perhaps the most important museum on Gran Canaria and it houses an important collection…read morerelating to the prehispanic period. However, it is one of the most old-fashioned museums I have ever been to. There are a number of themed rooms and in some of them are models that do help to explain the history of the era but mainly the museum consists of exhibits in cases with little interpretation. Exhibitions are in Spanish only. It was hard to see why it was considered a good use of space to exhibit hundreds of human skulls, all of which seemed to me very similar!
The museum charges very little, and it is worth a visit, but much more could be done and indeed has been done at other museums on the island dealing with this same historical period.
