This is a busy little place that is open 24 hours a day, every day. It's used by locals and visitors alike. It is within easy walking distance of the ferries, marina, and train station. Even these creaky old bones were easily able to walk from the Interislander ferry terminal while rolling along a suitcase. I'm slow, and it took me only a few minutes.
It's on the edge of one of the central areas of Picton. I stopped here and did a load of laundry before walking just a few more minutes to the motel I was staying at.
There are three regular washing machines and one large capacity washer/extractor. There are four dryers, a change machine, washing powder machine (NZ$3 for two bags), and snack machine. There are also book exchange shelves and people leave magazines. If you need soap, first check the bin on the folding table. If people have extra soap they leave it in there, so you may not need to buy any. read more
