    Prosciutto pizza with Arugula

In the years going to Bethany Beach we always passed this restaurant wondering is the pizza was a step up. Finally decided to stop by and very glad I did. The inside decor is very nice and to me upscale. The menu is pretty expansive and the food I can say is very well presented and tasty. Overall, if you are looking for a unique dining experience at the beach, PIE fits the bill.

Jeremy was our perfect server tonight. He had a great vibe and did not fail at capturing our six VEGAN personal pizza orders correctly. He kept our drinks full and checked in often for anything else we needed. Always with a million watt smile. Being a larger party w/o a reservation on a Saturday night during a holiday weekend, we expected a wait, but the hostess quickly cleared a table and seated us within 10 minutes of arrival. The flatbread pizzas were INCREDIBLY DELICIOUS. I'm hard pressed to think of tastier vegan pizza we've had at any pizzeria in 20+ years of being veg. My husband and kids agree. And the portions were just right. The interior of Pie is beach forward (it's two blocks from the Atlantic Ocean) and hip. There's attractive lights strung across the ceiling for comfort lighting this evening. The menu is straightforward and has all the topping "usual suspects" with a few extra fun ones thrown in as well (corn, eggplant, etc). A satisfying and wonderful family dinner in a comfortable eatery with excellent service and zero complaints. We will return. Yes: VEGAN FRIENDLY Yes: KID FRIENDLY

What a fun place! Pizzas are unusual, really delicious though. All pizzas are made to order with your personal favorites on top. We really enjoyed the salads that they had as well as the meatballs! The meatballs were outstanding! I definitely like the food better than the cocktails. I was very disappointed with the rum punch which just tasted like orange juice. If they can fix the cocktails, I would love this place!

Service: 6/10 Food: 9/10 We usually get PIE for takeout when we stay in Bethany but this time we stopped in on our way back home. I had tried to call and make a reservation Saturday due to our family of 7, but was met with a voicemail that was not set up. Undeterred, I dropped my husband and bigger kids at the boardwalk and walked over around 6:10 to be greeted by a harried host who informed me that they were on a hold on seating because the kitchen was down. Waited about 45 minutes with my ravenous 3 year old before I called the rest of the family. Then we sat and sat...and sat, while watching two smaller tables get sat, served and leave before I politely insisted that we be seated at two very open tables. Sigh. The very kind host seated us and we waited another 15 minutes for drinks before he brought them. After 30 minutes I asked for the server, who was bussing another table and chatting with other employees, to come over. I immediately ordered 2 bruschetta for the table but we also ordered our entrees as we had been waiting so long everyone knew what they wanted!! Then we sat some more. They literally brought the bruschetta at the same time as the pizzas!!! DEFEATING the ENTIRE PURPOSE!!! We got no appetizer, had to request refills, and got to watch the staff socialize with each other around the bar! The food is good but the service is VERRRY SKETCHY. I don't think it's deliberate, perhaps just very poor training, but the fact that we had to basically seat ourselves, push our tables together, request refills, track down our assigned server, and the appetizers weren't fired first makes it clear that some training is in order. We watched a larger party walk out without eating before ours so I am thankful that the kids were beat from the sun and full of snacks and ice cream because my entire mouth was fixed for my mushroom pie!!! The food is always great. This was our first time trying the bruschetta, which is super unique but could use more basil. The house focaccia is divine, the balsamic drizzle was delicious, but it it needed some garlic and basil to bring it to perfection! Everyone loved their pizzas and we left full and happy ... at 9:15 lol. We will be back in September, and hopefully they will have the staffing issues sorted!

Excellent pie. Probably the best I've ever tried.

We decided to order from Pie to-go and tried their Bruschetta, House Salad, Meatballs and two pies (the spicy pie and pesto pie w/Italian sausage). When I say OMG amazing, I mean AMAZING!!! The pizzas were excellent and the meatballs were the best I've ever tried. The bruschetta and salad was delicious. We are vacationing in the area and plan on ordering from Pie again before we leave since we loved the food so much. I highly recommend this place. Easy online ordering process and our food was ready in no time.

Came here with some friends, good service and pizza! We got the margarita pie and prosciutto pie! Both were excellent. The pizza is grilled thin crust, we got 3 pies and a salad for 4 gals, perfect amount of food. Italian Salad was also delicious, I loved the hot peppers and olives which added some tang!

    Wild Mushroom Pizza and Summertime

Came in around 8PM on a busy Friday night and Pie didn't let us down! The place was pretty busy, but overall we only waited for about 15 minutes before being seated. We didn't have a reservation and all of the other restaurants down the street had hour long waits, so this place really saved us. My three friends and I split two pizzas and it was enough to fill us up. Some of the pizzas have creative toppings which definitely intrigued me. We got the Summertime which had crab and tasted surprisingly light. Although the crab topping was unique, it didn't really wow me, and I probably would opt for another pizza instead. The Wild Mushroom, however, was SO good and came with white sauce, ricotta and mushrooms. Definitely a very casual, family-friendly atmosphere that has some fun pizzas and drinks.

Some of the best pizza I've ever had. I recommend you do a "build your own" and go with the italian sausage or soppressata. As for the menu: They offer red sauce, white pizza, or pesto. I wasn't impressed with the actual menu choices-- the "prebuilt" pizzas. I would modify one of these or just build your own. Dining experience: The dining area is oddly decorated and quite humble. On our visit at the dinner hour after Labor Day, there were only a handful of dine-in customers and plenty of open tables. The service was friendly. The pizza was served piping hot, right out of the oven.

Our first visit took place on Mother's Day around 4:00 PM. Because brunch was still being served and dinner didn't begin until 4:15 PM, I booked a table for two, and we passed the time at the bar. We caught some live music while I enjoyed a $16 Maker's Mark Manhattan before settling the bar tab. Once dinner service opened at 4:15 PM, we were seated inside at table 45 to escape a breezy outdoor deck. It turned out to be the debut day for their new menu. I ordered another $16 Maker's Mark Manhattan and the $36 seafood stew--a rich combination of fish, clams, shrimp, fennel, pepper, onion, Spanish chorizo, and tomato seafood broth accompanied by grilled bread. It was a generous portion, so I brought the remaining stew home to enjoy later that evening. To conclude the meal, I tried the Lucky 7 porter from Evolution Craft Brewing Company ($7), which featured dark dried fruit and sweet toffee tones balanced by notes of chocolate, coffee, and smoke. Our server, Brendan V., did an excellent job caring for us and demonstrated great knowledge of the new menu, even while managing a large outdoor table with five children. Our total bill for that evening came to $114, excluding gratuity. We returned on Memorial Day for a second dinner, this time in a group of five that included family and a friend visiting from Scottsdale, AZ. Since the outdoor fire tables were completely full, we secured a table on the left side of the restaurant. I began with a spicy mango margarita for $14, which featured tequila, mango, lime, agave, jalapeno, and a tajin rim, and opted for the $36 seafood stew once again. Unfortunately, the cocktails were inconsistent this time; I ordered a Maker's Mark Manhattan up, but it tasted like watered-down bourbon. When a second Manhattan tasted exactly the same, I decided to cancel the order. Nevertheless, our server Nadine K. provided excellent service throughout the evening, and our bill came out to $92 before gratuity. Ultimately, we all agreed that we would gladly visit again.

All food had outstanding flavor and all things were cooked perfectly. The short rib rub was thoughtfully done and you didn't even need a knife to cut though it. We also loved the creativity of the fruity pebbles in the dessert. Review for Heidaway - Bethany Beach, DE…read more It was the weekend after Memorial Day 2025--when the beach is still buzzing, but you can actually find parking and order a drink without elbowing someone in a straw hat. We rolled into Bethany Beach to kick off our summer, minus the chaos, and Heidaway was the first place that pulled us in with a wink and a steel drum beat. Right on the edge of the boardwalk, this place has big tropical energy. Think Key West meets Delaware--palm fronds, sea breeze, and the gentle background hum of fun. The outdoor seating is shaded but still breezy, like Mother Nature knows you want SPF without sweating through your shirt. And the music? Bright, beachy, and setting the scene for "yes, we are on vacation, thank you." Service? On point. From the friendly hostess to our magical waitress who somehow knew when we needed napkins, another round, or just a smile--everyone brought their A-game. No tourist trap vibes here. Just good, solid hospitality. Cocktails: We kicked off with a Moscow Mule, chilled in a classic copper mug and strong enough to make you forget your group chat's been blowing up since Tuesday. Spicy, refreshing, and just boozy enough to remind you you're off the clock. And the second drink? Let's call it the Mystery Mai Tai of Joy. We don't remember what was in it. We just know it was tropical, delicious, and made us say "we should move here" at least twice. The Food: Oysters Rockefeller - Baked to perfection, smothered in a creamy, herby sauce and topped with crispy breadcrumbs. The kind of dish that makes you lean back in your chair and toss your plate at a fireplace (if they had one) Lobster Roll & Fries - A buttery masterpiece. Generous chunks of lobster, golden toasted roll, and fries that nailed the crispy-soft ratio. They didn't hold back with the portions, and we didn't hold back either. Beet Salad - A beachy surprise hit. Sweet roasted beets, creamy goat cheese spread, and peppery arugula doing a power pose on the plate. It made us feel like we were balancing out the rest of the meal... even if dessert was already a foregone conclusion. If you're heading to Bethany and want to dodge the madness while still soaking up summer magic, Heidaway is a great spot. Come for the drinks, stay for the oysters, and let the ocean breeze convince you that everything is right in the world--even if only until Monday.

The highlights (and lowlights): The service was awful: We arrived at 5:17 and were seated at 5:22. Drinks took 26 minutes to deliver and the order was wrong. My FiL clearly asked for a Pinot Grigio, but a Sangria was delivered. Cody, the server*, politely repeated that he ordered the Sangria, but that did not happen (my FiL drinks only dry wines). We waited to toast my in-laws anniversary, but had to wait another 7-8 minutes for the correct glass of wine to be delivered. There is no attention to detail in the dining room. The staff are on island time. The first appetizer arrived at 6:08--46 minutes after we sat down! At 6:20, I bussed our table. (After dinner, I bussed our table a second time). Even trying to pay the check Cody was MIA. He came by the table perhaps six times from 5:22-6:45. *There seems to be a lot of summer hires here--folks that want to hang out at the beach, but need to work to pay the rent. The training has be to incredibly minimal. I would guess no family meal, no 5-minute daily wine pairing rundown...basically no front of the house training. When the customer has to stack dirty plates and get a busboy's attention to grab them TWICE...not good, especially for the prices at Off the Hook. The food was quite hit or miss. The good: the crab bisque was excellent...really amazing! The scallop appetizer was also delicious with a base of grits and bacon underneath. However... The bad: we wanted to share the scallop appetizer and asked Cody how many scallops came with that. He said "three". The app was delivered with TWO scallops (Yes...TWO scallops for $19). They were not huge scallops...so 16/20 count. Wholesale, $18 a pound, less than a dollar each. To charge $19 for an appetizer with TWO scallops? Wow! The dish cost perhaps $3.25. A bottle of wine that retails for $15 is $30 in a restaurant. I get it, but marking up TWO scallops with some grits to $19 is insane. I asked the manager about the missing scallop. He advised that the entree came with three scallops--the app two. The entree was $39!! $39 for three scallops! If these were U/8 or U/15 scallops, I maybe could see it, but two 16/20 scallops for $19 and three for $39 is nuts. The pappardelle (appetizer portion) was completely flavorless. It was not cooked with any salt and pepper. It tasted like buttered noodles you find on a kid's menu. Adding salt and pepper (at the table) did little to fix it. My wife's pappardelle entree was equally bland. She tried mine; I tried hers. She looked right at me and said "There is no seasoning on this!". My thought exactly. My FiL had the salmon. He reported that it was tasty. While it was cooked well, $35 for an approximately 5 oz portion is again nuts. As a local, I really wanted to enjoy this meal. It was an anniversary dinner for my in-laws. $260 for four people with bad service and hit-or-miss food and the portions described is not good. I'm not a tourist. Lastly, I cannot forget to mention the FLIES. This is an INSIDE, white tablecloth dining establishment with $30-40 entrees, NOT a beachfront bar. 3-4 houseflies, accompanied by a gnat, joined us for dinner. Crazy. Bethany Beach, Delaware has limited options for dining and cars lined up 100 deep on the main road into town. This can be the only explanation for Off the Hook being so busy, so often. Tourists from NYC and Philadelphia don't bat an eye at paying $39 for three scallops. I don't know what other explanation makes sense.
