I recently spent two days at Northside Hospital Cherokee, and the care I received was as good…read moreas--if not better than--I could have hoped for. Every member of the staff I encountered treated me with kindness, professionalism, and genuine concern. My room was spacious, comfortable, and exceptionally clean. The Environmental Services staff did an outstanding job keeping everything spotless. On the first morning of my stay, my wife immediately commented on how clean the room looked--something she had never said during any previous hospital stay. The staff thoroughly cleaned and dusted the room, mopped the floor, and even changed the trash bag even though it was barely full. Their attention to detail did not go unnoticed. I also noticed a small device under the sink that I later learned was a Synexis air purification system. It operates so quietly that I never heard it, but I was impressed to learn that it continuously helps improve air and surface quality by generating a safe form of hydrogen peroxide. It was reassuring to see Northside Hospital Cherokee investing in technology that helps protect patients from the spread of germs. The food service exceeded my expectations. There was a wide variety of menu choices, the meals arrived on schedule, the portions were generous, the food was served at the proper temperature, and every meal was exactly what I ordered. Hospital food often gets a bad reputation, but that certainly wasn't my experience here. My discharge process was one of the smoothest I've ever experienced. Nurse Brenda made sure my wife and I had everything packed so nothing was left behind. She asked my wife to bring the car around to the entrance, and within just a couple of minutes I was on my way home. The entire process was efficient, organized, and stress-free. The highlight of my stay, however, was the nursing staff. Their compassion, professionalism, and positive attitudes made all the difference. Brenda and Elizabeth cared for me during the day, while Nancy and another night-shift nurse--whose name I unfortunately cannot remember--provided excellent care overnight. Every one of them treated me with respect and kindness, and they always seemed to have a smile on their face. They should be highly commended for their dedication to their patients. If I ever need hospital care again and have a choice, Northside Hospital Cherokee will be my first choice without hesitation. Thank you to everyone who made my stay such a positive experience. Your hard work and commitment to patient care are truly appreciated. Irvin F

Staff was friendly at the check in counter, and I did not have to wait too long to get signed in. I had already spent 50 minutes on the phone for the preoperative interview. The preparation for my surgery didn't take too long either. The nursing staff was very friendly and professional. The Anestesia Doctor did his job, but he was not extremely personable. To him, I was just a number. However, my Doctor Karen Buhariwalla was amazing. She explained what would happen in the upcoming procedure, and made small talk to make me feel confident, and relaxed. After the surgery the dismissal process was easy. Noone wants to have anything to do with a hospital, but if I ever have to, I would chose this one.

Yet we have hospitals like Piedmont in ellijay.where people are sitting in a chair for hours at a time. It doesn't matter how sick or how bad you are hurting you will have to wait hours in a waiting room with absolutely no help until they have room for you. I wonder if the CEO of the hospital gets the same treatment as the helpless masses that flock there for help. And you might get it or you might not. If you want quality health care you will have to get out of Ellijay. The urgent care by waffle House is a cesspool. We need some leadership around here so inocent people won't have to suffer so long. If piedmont can't handle the job it's time to bring in someone who can. If you're in need of emergency help get out of ellijay. Piedmont has become a free clinic in a third world country. It's time we realize that we don't work for these hospitals, they work for us. If you don't have room for me then let's do an audit and see where all this money is going. It's time to take your health back gilmer county.

Upon going…read moreto Mass on Sunday, we visited friends nearby and while on our way to the bridal affair, my wife suddenly fell ill with piercing pain similar to a migraine. Piedmont ER was right down the road and got us right in. By the time I parked the car, she was being seen by the triage nurse and escorted to a bay in the ER. They were kind and compassionate and quickly ordered diagnostic tests to see what was going on. It's important to know that this facility is only an ER, not a hospital. If they deem you need further care, you have to either wait to be transported or drive to the hospital yourself. This is simply a limitation of this facility, but what they can handle, they handle well. This is basically an urgent care on steroids. But what they do, they do well and the doctor took the time to explain everything! I was visiting from out of town, so I'll likely never be back here, but if I lived here, I would not hesitate to visit.

They have several providers but most are not doctors. One visit I waited "hours" past my appointment time to see the provider to get my lab results.. They never bothered to call and inform me that there was going to be a delay. I sat and waited and was made to feel like my time didn't matter. I have been prescribed medications that I am allergic to at least twice. One provider sent the wrong medication to the pharmacy 3x and each time it was wrong. Three times we paid for the wrong medication. I had been taking it for years, and I feel there was no excuse for the screw ups! The owner of the practice, a doctor, prescribed medication for me that should never been prescribed for a Type 1 Diabetic. The insert from the pharmaceutical company, plainly states for Type 2 diabetic patients. The office staff are very rude and unprofessional. They do not relay messages in a timely manner. They talk over you instead of listening when you have a problem. Recently, one of the office staff even insulted me without cause, instead of being helpful. I had a medical condition that has been overlooked for years, and the one provider that cared left 3 or 4 years ago. She was the best doctor in the place. She cared and that's more than I can say about most of them. Their mistakes have been too many. Their mistakes have put my health and life in jeopard! They use computers to document your visits and health, but still don't read your chart to see your allergies & health issues before prescribing. when I finally stood up for myself about a staff member, it was never addressed. Instead they sent a letter telling me they would no longer provide services to me. Which was fine because, I had already fired them as my health care providers, and had already found a new doctor. The doctor who owns the practice cares more about the mighty dollar, his fancy cars, lavish vacations, and opening up more locations and extending the services they offer, instead of taking care of their patients that have been with them for 20+ years.

Time goes on and I receive a letter that I owe them an additional $25.00 which was incorrect. I was advised to call insurance. I did, and insurance advised me that Prestige has to deal with it. I pass that information to Prestige and nothing progressed from there. Today, I was sick and went to Prestige, Jasper location. They tell me I have a charge on my account and refuse to see me unless I pay it. I explained the situation. They didn't care, demanded $25 or no service. They could see where I had called in to try to correct the problem to them but blamed me that it was unresolved and refused service unless I gave them more money for a coding error they made. I asked to speak with someone. This person showed zero compassion that I was sick, told me the bill is going to collections, and that it was my problem to fix. I left sick with a bill going to collections when I did absolutely nothing wrong and have never not paid a co payment in full prior to every visit.

I have had pacemakers for 23 years with no problems and my body had a perfect cavity to accept the new one. No Pereira decides he knows best he moves it creating another scar, placing it on top of a rib which will mean for the first time in 23 years it will be visibly sticking out of my chest for the next 10 years. He implants it with a processed pig offal pouch which my body rejects, he causes a massive seroma and hematoma. It was sticking right out of my chest and it burst out 7 weeks later oozing puss and I had to undergo a corrective procedure at another hospital performed by a proper Dr. The operation took 3 1/2 hours to correct removing blood clots, and debris from whatever he had implanted into me. Neither Pereira or the hospital can agree as to what he did implant as shown on my records! Not only that I was prescribed drugs that he knew I had an allergy to which caused me a debilitating c.diff infection. It has cost me $10's thousands and three months of my life. I have consulted with three other senior well respected Cardiologists and none of them could agree with his course of actions. Their view was that the relocation was totally necessary, gave a much increased chance of infection and risked damaging a pacing lead that had been in place 23 years. It created a great deal more trauma than was necessary by digging away at and tearing my pectoral muscle. One has to ask why some Dr. end up practicing in back of the woods hospitals. I guess some do by choice, others simply do not measure up to the top jobs on offer. I think its worth travelling to a major hospital and check the reviews very carefully. I was forced by circumstances to have my procedure by Pereira, check out the ratings and reviews on sites not related to the hospital before committing to what for me was a nightmare. First picture following corrective surgery 10 days after procedure. The five other pictures show Pereira's work after 10 days pics 2 & 3, after 4 weeks and after 7 weeks at the point where the scar burst!

From the very beginning, Dr. Adodo stepped in with compassion, professionalism, and genuine care. He went above and beyond to ensure my mom received the best possible care. What truly stood out was his advocacy for her. After she had a less-than-positive experience with the on-call surgeon, Dr. Adodo listened to her concerns and took them seriously. He worked diligently to arrange for a different surgeon (someone she felt comfortable with) and made sure she was confident and at ease before moving forward. That surgeon ended up being absolutely amazing, and we are so grateful. Dr. Adodo's dedication, communication, and willingness to advocate for his patient made all the difference during a very stressful time. I checked the website prior to going to see If I could call or make some type of online appt. On the site it said the wait time was 45-60 min and I was trying to get in during my lunch break. There is an option to call ahead (got voicemail when I called) and an option to "skip the wait" and check in online. I chose that option. They were to text me when my visit time was 15 min away. I got 1 text with a time to arrive plus 2 others updating me on when to arrive since they were running behind. My visit time was for 12:55. I got there and gave the lady outside the door (bc covid) my info and told her I checked in online. She took my temp and brought me to the waiting room. There were quite a few people in the lobby but I know they do regular dr. visits there, too. After about 3 people were called and I had waited over 1.5 hrs I asked the receptionist when I would be called back since I checked in online. She said that all the online check-in is for is to "let us know you're coming" but does not place me in front of the line. I was put in line AFTER I got there. Then why did I get a visit time. And why did they update it so I knew when to go? After about 3 hrs in the waiting room and after EVERY SINGLE OTHER PERSON had been called and the reception area was EMPTY I was finally told they were cleaning a room for me. At least 20 more minutes of waiting and I was finally called back. Waited another 30+ to see the PA. she was in and out within 5 minutes. Ordered steroid and pain shots and a steroid pack for the week. Finally out of there at 4:45!! Almost 4 hours there!! What?!?! Total waste of time!!! I almost left but I had no other option, except maybe another urgent care, to get relief. At the end of sitting in the most uncomfortable chairs ever for that amount of time my back was screaming! The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is bc I finally got some meds and was able to sleep without excruciating pain last night.

I had pneumonia... VERY DISPPOINTED in the care I received there, Definitely not Northside standards I expect.
